Well, you've read the notes, the notes had less gunk and more voice, and now it it time for you to post until the less gunk and more voice cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DILIGENT!
-
Notes spic’d. Spanned.

Topic of the Day: I'm not a fan of true crime books, documentaries, and movies, so I don't partake. ::)
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
What can one say about today?
-
Not much.
-
Yet.
-
But time will tell.
-
The truth will out.
-
As they say.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I began watching the Netflix documentary Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich. Filthy is indeed a good word for this piece of shit.
-
I don't care what the FBI or Dept. of Justice tell me: I believe the info on Tramp in the Epstein papers will document Tramp's and Malaria's involvement with a lot of things that good ol' Christian Tramp never wants released to the public.
-
DR Ginny, I'm sorry you've gone through a cardiac scare, but it sounds like you're on the right track with the situation.
-
Yesterday, I got my first job since the work on Gypsy ended last November. It doesn't pay well, but it's a prpoject I like, and it will keep three cats in luxury for the next month.
-
Oh, no. :(

That's great news, Larry!

No rain. But we're under a flood advisory. They do that every time there's a cloud.
-
We're going to have a church potluck this weekend, so maybe I'll walk to the grocery store to get ingredients for pizza beans.
-
"Groceries" is a new word I just made up. It's a good word. Groceries.
-
We got down to 53 degrees last night.

It's remarkable, isn't it? Living in this Age of Stupidity.

Thursday morning greetings! Tonight my book club is discussing Ina Garten’s new memoir.
-
DR Ginny, I'm sorry you've gone through a cardiac scare, but it sounds like you're on the right track with the situation.
Thank you, dear DR Elmore! There are still some unknowns, but we’re making progress.
Congratulations on the new job!
-
Good morning, all.
-
And here it is, a Thursday once again.
Tonight we start our last weekend, three more shows, closing Saturday night. No Sunday performance, as they're already in tech for the next show.
-
And one last (I hope!) day of 90+ and high humidity. If the forecasts I've been looking at are valid, tomorrow and Saturday we fall back to a high of 80 degrees, still with sunny clear skies, and won't it be glorious for tomorrow and Saturday nights if that actually comes to pass.
But today will be another Hell no matter how you cut it, and I'm cutting it fairly thick.
-
I just paid an ugly bill. And this morning, soon, I must go out and mow the "lawn" which is badly overgrown. Later I have to finish re-putting up a set of bookshelves that have been down for a while, in a new place. I think that's about it, before getting ready for the show.
-
Sounds good, DR Ginny. Keep making that progress.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Excellent news, Elmore. May it lead to more.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Tonight my book club is discussing Ina Garten’s new memoir.
I enjoyed that book. It was a little scattershot, but fun. I have never watched her show.

Yes! Indeed!

Thursday morning greetings! Tonight my book club is discussing Ina Garten’s new memoir.
I enjoyed that book. It was a little scattershot, but fun. I have never watched her show.
I had seen her here and there, but didn’t watch Barefoot Contessa consistently. After reading this book, I binge-watched her “Be My Guest” series and one of her guests was Erin French from The Lost Kitchen. So I read HER memoir, Finding Freedom, then binge-watched her “Getting Lost with Erin French” series.
-
Good news DR ELMORE.
-
I shall have to think about the TOD.
-
Tonight is show #5 of The Cemetery Club.
So much laughter and heavy mitts - about six minutes was added to the show last night.

From DR Jrand:
The curtain speech was a great success with the audience and there was much laughter going on in the first scene when I made my departure.
Very nice :)

Thanks George.

Most of my group was underwhelmed. It was an easy read.

Wow! I gather you really liked her book.
-
True crime really isn't my favorite thing to read or watch. These two were excellent reads.
-
In Cold Blood was the first one I read, after I had seen the movie.
-
The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America stands out. Only half of the story is a true crime story.
-
Oh, no. :(
:(
-
I don’t seek out true crime. But my mother loved Dateline, so I have seen quite a few episodes.

Excellent movie viewing last night. Marnie was so intense, I really liked it. Now I need to see the operatic version. The Trouble With Harry provided some lightness after Marnie's darkness.
-
Tonight's film class is the French New Wave with Truffaut's The Soft Skin.
-
Yesterday, I got my first job since the work on Gypsy ended last November. It doesn't pay well, but it's a prpoject I like, and it will keep three cats in luxury for the next month.
Congrats, Larry!
-
That's a hell of a double feature, DR MichaelG. Glad you enjoyed Marnie. Like DR John G. says, the opera is based on the original novel, but the film gives you plenty to go on and I believe you'll enjoy the opera just fine. I was one who always liked the film, and I've developed even greater respect for it over the years.
The Trouble With Harry was a tougher nut to crack when I first saw it as a kid. Going in cold, I was wrongly expecting it to be something with more suspense or perhaps even a little bit scary. I think about ten years passed before I was seeing it at Hitchcock festivals in L.A., and of course I "got it" and liked it just fine then.

-
I don’t seek out true crime. But my mother loved Dateline, so I have seen quite a few episodes.
I loved the book Helter Skelter; the Manson fami;ly really spooked me. I never saw the TV movie.
-
Shaved and showered and following an online auction - nothing for me, really, but several are things I have so I'd like to see what they go for.
-
Voice is a bit better today. The real problems are, for whatever reasons, at night, especially later. Don't understand it really. But in addition to the Claritin I took a Mucinex - I read up on it and there's no problem taking both at the same time, and I think the Mucinex really helps overnight.
-

I admit I didn’t like Marnie when I first saw it. But when I watched all of Hitchcock’s movies a few years ago, it became one of my favorites. As for the opera, the countertenor is an interesting writing/casting choice.

Sure is. And it's a character who isn't in the movie, right? Wow, I'm forgetting now. I read the novel many years ago. Maybe I should pick it up again, especially since we have the opera now.

I just read this news. For some reason I did not see your post. I think there was a delay in the photo showing up.
-
Boring auction - to me, it seems mostly dealers trying to get bargains but not letting anyone else get them and dropping out as soon as the price precludes the kind of profit these vultures like to make when they jack up the price. When they get to the mysteries I know exactly who'll be doing just that.
-
Most of the stuff I want to watch won't come for another thirty or forty minutes.
-
Don't ask me.
-
Hot outside, but cooler in the house and I hope it stays that way for rehearsal because I'm not turning on the air.
-
Good afternoon.

Well, I guess that's that for this storm system. Not a drop.

I walked over to the church to visit with the ladies' sewing group. They are making a quilt out of the squares that the kids made at Bible School.

That's a weird sounding recording DR JOHN G.
-
That was fun to see DR FREDDIE.
-
Which reminds me of the apocryphal story that Gower Champion was putting Miss Ginger Rogers in as a replacement in Hello, Dolly.
He was getting frustrated and walked out onto the street and there he met Hermes Pan...
Gower: Hermes, why didn't you tell me?
Hermes: I thought you knew!

I would say, unscientifically, of songs that went to number one from 1955 onward, Connie’s “My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own” is one that has gotten the least airplay over the years.

Connie's first Billboard Number One was Lipstick On Your Collar and her final one was Vacation!
For awhile the only other artists who had more top ten hits were Elvis and The Beatles.

Page four after four hours???
-
Rehearsal was really fun and of course I talked more than I should have so right now I'm a bit hoarse, but I wasn't hoarse when I was talking - so that's good. Now, hopefully after shutting up tonight and all of tomorrow, I'll be fine on Saturday.
-
I ordered a sausage and peppers sandwich and three slices of pizza from a well-reviewed jernt in Studio City. The sandwich looked like a six-foot size at Subway. It was HUGE. And the slices are so big that three of them would probably make a whole pie elsewhere. Pizza was pretty good, sandwich was tasty, but I only at one and a half slices and less than half the sandwich and I feel like I'm going to explode.
-
Vibes you continue to improve.
-
It was nice to see Sydney - haven't since we closed. I gave her three songs she's perfect for - Belle, Part of Your World, and The Parent Trap/For Now, For Always.
-
I really have to go sit on the couch and try to not explode.

For awhile the only other artists who had more top ten hits were Elvis and The Beatles.
I think you mean first and last top ten tunes. Lipstick peaked in Billboard at #5 in ‘59 and Vacation peaked at #9 in 1962. But what a run she had over 3 years!
Her Billboard #1s were:
Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool 1960 (as a b-side!)
My Heart Has a Mind of its Own 1960
Don’t Break the Heart that Loves You 1962
After 1963 she never even hit the top 20 again.

"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" to end in May 2026 (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-late-show-stephen-colbert-end-may-2026/)

And I do want to say ... that the folks at CBS have been great partners. I'm so grateful to the Tiffany Network for giving me this chair and this beautiful theater to call home. And of course I'm grateful to you, the audience, who have joined us every night."
