Well, you're read the notes, the notes were from the new mighty mini, and now it is time for you to post until the mighty mini cows com home.
-
And the word of the day is: GUFFAW!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well. Annabelle decided that she wanted to sleep with Thatch and me, so we had a full bed last night.
-
BK, that computer is a beauty! I think my monitor is 21 inches, and that's plenty for me. Much as I like mine, which was new two years ago, its lack of USB portals leaves my computer table a tangle of hubs, hard drives, and too much wire cluttering up the space around the mouse pad.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I got an email that my Amazon mini-review of RICHARD AND ME is online.
-
DR singdaw, thank for the link to The Choral preview. I looked it up on IMDB, and the cast is impressive. The preview is charming and funny, but 1916 was not a good year for the Brits in the war (to end all wars and decimate the British male population), and I suspect the film is going to be a tearjerker as more young men are sent off to Europe to die. Oh, what a lovely war!
-
And good morning, DR ChasSmith!
-
I have things to cart to the basement. After that, a bit of housework.
-
Day Two of looking like something that should only be going out in public when wearing a bag over my head.
When I got home yesterday I took extra strength Tylenol, and a little later a couple of aspirin as a chaser, and by the time those had worn off, I was no longer feeling the heat. I watched a little bit of this and a little bit of that and kept dozing off like I hadn't slept in a week. Other than that, I felt fine, but I must make sure to have all the mirrors in the house removed.
-
My copy of A&T arrived late yesterday afternoon, so I've finally got a look at the finished copy. We lost one illustration, and I miss it, so I'll display it here. I was hoping it would be the title page whe you opened the book.
-
While I was writing the last post, my phone rang. It was my publisher telling me that A&T is currently the Number #1 bestselling NEW hardbound in Contemporary Literature & Fiction.
I checked Amazon.co.uk, and we have invaded the UK.
-
Computer looks great, and I really like the Mac Mini setup.
DR Elmore mentioned USB ports. I think Apple has remained more reasonable with the Minis than with the other systems, as far as continuing to provide a decent number of ports in general. One of the reasons many musicians like to keep the older laptops going is because of the lack of ports on some of the models that came along after mine. You can so easily get into an adaptor-and-hub nightmare, which is likely what DR Elmore is describing.
-
DR Elmore - Do you mean that page isn't in the paper copies? It's in my Kindle edition, between the front cover and the text-only title page.
-
While I was writing the last post, my phone rang. It was my publisher telling me that A&T is currently the No. 1 seller on Amazon's "Contemporary Fiction."
Excellent news!
It's also in the Top 100 in the area of "Performing Arts (Books)"
-
John G wrote last night: "I learned my book will be released Sept. 5."
Good to know. Not that there's a lot of audience overlap, but to stay out of the way here, I'll time pushing and shilling and hawking for my new book to have that over well before Labor Day.
-
I'm running into a similar issue as others with how Amazon is defining the age range for my book. I had filled out that it's suitable for anyone age 5 and up, and I thought it would clearly mean that it's suitable for all ages - but Amazon is insisting that it's for age 5 to 18!
-
DR Elmore - Do you mean that page isn't in the paper copies? It's in my Kindle edition, between the front cover and the text-only title page.
Yes, it's in my Kindle edition too.
-
Millstone alert for Elmore. Could even be today or tomorrow!
-
DR John G, thanks for the Love Life link. I ordered it and the John Wilson recording of My Fair Lady.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I also found that illustration at the beginning of my Kindle edition of DR elmore3003's book.
-
My hard copy arrives today.
-
DR Elmore - Do you mean that page isn't in the paper copies? It's in my Kindle edition, between the front cover and the text-only title page.
I sure didn't see it in the hardcover. It was on the back cover of the galleys, but it's been replaced by blurbs in the new paper edition. I'll see if its in the paper edition when it arrives tomorrow.
-
Wow, DR John G. September 5! That is some quick turnaround. It seems like yesterday that you were just starting your research.
-
I wonder if any of the places you wrote about are no longer after the flooding.
-
BK, does writing just two or so sentences for an Amazon review count as much as a longer, more detailed review for the Amazon algorithm?
And does the Amazon algorithm count a "Verified" purchase more than not Verified?

Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
I wonder if any of the places you wrote about are no longer after the flooding.
I got the flood covered. Only one winery was deeply affected.
-
Started a new audiobook last night and listened late into the morning. It's called There Are Rivers in the Sky and was a Booker Prize finalist. Three stories from different times all woven together somehow.

Friday. Not much happening today and that is fine!
-
Let's see if we can get to this millstone this morning.
-
Thanks to MR BK for the photo of the new computer set up.
-
I am starting to research computers for my changeover!
-
Walla!
-
Walla!
Congratulations, Jrand, on your marvelous new millstone!
-
Amazon sent me an email saying that my mini-review of Annabelle and Thatch is online.
-
Here you go, DR Jrand74!

That's great information!
-
Q: Is Friday, August 8, 2025 really INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY ??
A: I do believe it is.
As soon as I dressed, Annabelle started bugging me about posting. I think she Googles every day just to find something to rag on me about.
-
For International Cat Day, the West Midlands Railway named one of its trains today after my beloved George, the Stourbridge Junction Cat.
-
Thanks DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Here you go, DR Jrand74!
Now that it's been officially memorialized, congratulations again, Jrand!

Here's George with his Daddy Ian at the train naming ceremony.

I have been asked in for an interview at a temp agency.

It’s Monday at the unholy time of 8:15.

That's great! Ebook purchased.
What is the Sept. 5th date? For the paper copy?
-
It’s Monday at the unholy time of 8:15.
That's early! Will you take the interview?

Whenever it's on Amazon, isn't it "launched" only when you decide it's launched?
-
Sept. 5 is the date of the physical book.
-
I will go to the interview. Of course. I need the insurance.

Since it feels (in a good way) like a mini-HHW-book-festival, I'll try to upload the back (above) and front (below) covers of my new book.

DR Singdaw, nice page six you did last night.
-
Did Rodzinski accidentally get cremated in the Phoenix heat yesterday?
-
DR Kevin, well done on Wordle last night.
-
He's lucky that it is supposed to cool off today. Only expected to be 112.
-
I guess he know why they got a good rate for the convention.
-
DR John, I haven't read the King novella and am looking forward to your comments comparing the story and the movie.
-
John, it is exciting that you have a release date.
-
From DR George:
I haven't (yet?) been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, just psoriasis. Maybe my dermatologist is prescribing this as a preventative.
Has your psoriasis gotten worse?

Great looking book, Freddie.

Listening to Redwood. Not enjoying it.

Too much lazy indy rock.

Where O where is DR Ron Pulliam these days? He's been posting on Facebook.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
Ron comes, Ron goes, like Grand Hotel.

So, the movie theaters on Dec. 5 will have Merrily We Roll Along and Hamilton both playing. Is that when The Choral opens, too?

I’m tired.

But not tired enough to miss this.

The Choral's trailer says Christmas, so probably a few weeks later. Thanks for the heads-up on the Merrily date.
-
Congratulations to all on their book releases (current and imminent) and new computers (likewise)!

That was true for MacBook Pros a few years ago but the current models are as port-rich as the older ones. They're just using USB-C where the older ones used USB-A. Lots of newer devices are USB-C now, and the USB-A to USB-C converters are pretty small and handy. If you use an external monitor, those tend to come with lots of ports too nowadays. No more external hubs for me.
-
Listening to Redwood. Not enjoying it.
It seemed "people" thought that, especially given it was a Times Critics Pick, it would at least get Tony Nominations for its set and Lead actress - but as we know, it didn't.
Those seem to have been regarded as genuine snubs.

That's very good to hear, DR MichaelG. And of course USB-C is great.

Inching back up, we're at $2.91 today. I think I paid two cents less a few days ago.

Normally, I get the softcover test book in about a week - then the hardcover a couple of weeks later, although that's taken longer the last two books. Today, I got the hardcover ahead of the softcover - a first and boy does it look great.

Annabelle and Thatch has arrived in San Antonio! And it looks great.
-
My copy arrived today too, and I am so happy to have it. That one illustration does appear to be missing.

Friday afternoon greetings! Fittingly for International Cat Day my copy of Annabelle & Thatch was waiting on our doorstep when we returned from my cardiologist appointment. It’s a masterpiece, DR Elmore!
-
No drastic measures from cardiologist. He added a second diuretic, recheck in 2 months.

Keith got Wordle in four.

Sounds like good news. Is it?

No drastic measures from cardiologist. He added a second diuretic, recheck in 2 months.
Have you been feeling at all better with the first diuretic? It sounds like your cardiologist is moving slowly in order to evaluate each medication separately.

No. I don’t think there are photos inside.

Just your beautiful descriptions :)

Tonight we are going to watch the first episode of the 2022 show, Wednesday.
-
Has anyone watched it?
-
We watched the first season of Wednesday. I found it interesting but too weird for my taste.
-
Season 2 is out now, isn't it?
-
Sat in my living room armchair, made a call. As soon as I hung up, I fell asleep. For two hours. Plopped down on the bed and slept another hour.
-
Made a batch of Wacky Noodles.
-
They were good.
-
Very hot here.
-
Looking forward to John G's book.
-
We watched the first season of Wednesday. I found it interesting but too weird for my taste.
We watched a few minutes of it and stopped. After hearing good things about it we will give it a try again.
-
Season 2 is out now, isn't it?
Yes, and we read it is better than season one.
-
Looking forward to John G's book.
It's very interesting in looking through the ebook.
Wine is a world I've never really followed.
-
Season 2 is out now, isn't it?
Yes, and we read it is better than season one.
That's worth knowing. Thanks for mentioning it.
-
We're almost through season 1 of THE GILDED AGE. Just one episode left.
So far, we see that most people were rotten then, both the rich and the not-rich, just like today. But they sure dressed nicely while being rotten back then.
I hadn't known that this was from the same creator and writer as DOWNTON ABBEY.

PAGE SIX!

I bought DR Freddie's book! It is supposed to be here Monday.

Congratulations, DR Jrand74, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

Thanks so much for buying it, singdaw. Who knows - Maybe you'll see it before I see it.

Back from Greater Tuna. Two great performances but the pacing was off. I’ve never known that show to drag. This one did in spots.
-
This was the first production I have seen that used a woman in the cast. She was effective as both the male and female characters she played.
-
Good night, all.
-
I don't know - maybe I just don't want to watch movies anymore. I cannot get up the energy to do so.
-
So, I watched a TV show I'd never heard of starring George Nader called Shannon and then some completely wacko YouTube videos.
-
I think the heat brings on lethargy.
-
Or perhaps lethargy brings on heat.
-
One of the two.
-
I might order a sandwich or some soup or something. I had the Wacky Noodles at four and less than I usually make.
-
I'll see what's what.
-
I also ran out of English muffins, so I'll see if anyone had 'em on DoorDash.
-
No posts in two hours.
-
Wacky.
-
Wicky-wacky.
-
Ticky-tacky.
-
Overtly overt.

Inertly inert.

Ridic.

And certainly not very sporting.

Is there gaslighting going on?

Certainly would appear to be the case.

See?

Up are new notes.

I've seen them.

I've read them.

I wrote them.
