Well, you've read the notes, the notes were dreamy, and now it is time for you to post until the dreamy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPRIGHTLY!
-
Notes embroiled. Foiled.

Drove to Kent, WA yesterday to meet a friend of the wife’s for dinner. Tire pressure monitoring system light came on. Tires seem fine when I checked. Added some air. Could be a sensor failing. We’ll see what the morning brings.
-
I sometimes miss the 20 years I lived in NYC without a car.
-
Good morning.
-
It seems those sensors fail and need to be replaced more often than they discover a low tire.
-
Bedtime for BK.
-
It appears a storm blew through a small part of town overnight. Not here, though.

VIbes everything is OK.
-
Rodzinski, on the plus side, you are very near a nice, roundish HHW posting Millstone.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, but I still want to go back to bed and sleep until I really feel like getting up.
-
Last night Rob Berman sent me this photo of his dog Hudson.
-
I hope he's reading it and not eating it. I have never met Hudson, but he's smaller than I imagined.
-
This morning, after I finish up kitty cleanup, I will spend a couple of hours with my student's score. We have a session at 2:00, and I look forward to it.
-
Last night Rob Berman sent me this photo of his dog Hudson.
That's lovely! Hudson has good taste in reading.
-
Good morning, all.

Good morning, all.

I sort of watched Sweet Charity on TCM last night, falling asleep to it at some point but waking up at the break between that and Two For the Seesaw, of which I barely even lasted through the main titles.
-
Last night Rob Berman sent me this photo of his dog Hudson.
Nice picture! I'll bet he's a great dog, too.
-
I had a weird dream the last two nights involving ghosts of people who aren’t dead. I could see the ghost of a male actor and I was communicating with someone who could see the ghost of Cindy Pickett, an actress who is still alive, too. They were both in a movie together that was being rediscovered.

I don't know at what point I'd call my book "launched" but I put up the Amazon link on my blog
https://music-and-comedy.blogspot.com/2025/08/the-link-for-new-mainly-theater-related.html
and the Amazon link is
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLPRB2Z7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
and sent info to some press try to get a little "advance buzz" before I figure out the best approach to launching.
So I'm still in "advance buzz" mode, I guess. Since I'm expecting that the book could become more of a calling card for the writing, maybe there's no rush to launch.

Good luck.

We rented a car yesterday. The first car flashed the pressure light up. At least we hadn't driven it yet, and didn't have luggage with us.
-
Keith got Wordle in five.
-
DR Freddie, good vibes with your advanced buzz.

Thanks, Jane!

DR Singdaw, thank you. We had a nice day.

Nice keychains George.

I was very pleased to see Freyja wearing a traditional watch. It is designed to help a child learn to read a watch and she has it figured out already.

DR Elmore, and others:
I had printed out the JPG that DR Elmore provided of the missing title page illustration, but it came out softer in resolution than the rest of the ones in my Kindle. A few days later I had a brainstorm (which could have been something else, of course, but I believe 'storm' is the right word here), and found a way to get it totally sharp and clear.
If this attachment doesn't work here, I'll have to make it smaller, so let's see...
-
Okay, good. Click on that to make it larger and you'll see how sharp and clear it is.
What I did was display that page on my Kindle and then take a screenshot, which goes into the Photos app. Then on the Mac, I opened that up and selected "edit in Preview", and saved it as both a JPG and a PDF to see if either looked better. They both looked great, and this is just a reduction of the JPG.

I'm read for my student today. We're working on a big band arrangement of Kurt Weill's "Speak Low."

Thursday.

Thursday.
You won't get an argument from me.
-
Tonight's the last night of our French cinema class. We see Catherine Corisini's Summertime from 2015.
-
After which we vote on our favorite film of the class. First it gets narrowed down to three films, then the top two, and then the winner.

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.

No e-mail from the assemblers.

Called Wayfair - not happening today. Unbelievable. Rescheduled for Saturday morning. And the refunded me 10% of the order.
-
Supposedly I will get an email today AND tomorrow confirming Saturday.
-
From day one, this has been one of the worst cockups of a purchase ever.
-
I've always had okay experiences the couple of times I've used Wayfair - never again after this.
-
Guess George is driving to Seattle.
-
Where the Darling Daughter used to live.
-
I've been there a couple of times and liked it.

That doesn't sound like decent customer service.
-
In good news, BK, you're getting quite closer to a record-setting new Millstone!
-
Way Unfair!
-
Rodzinski, you're also getting quite close to a nice round new Millstone!
-
I am in the Seattle area, and it seems pleasant. I’m not in Seattle proper, but Bellevue. In a high-rise air bnb. About which I can tell you the water has been shut off today for some reason.
-
Rodzinski, you're also getting quite close to a nice round new Millstone!
Thanks, Fred! You’re always looking out for others.
-
We're getting pretty close to page 3
-
Today is overcast. Well the sky is. Other parts of the day are clear as can be.

When Last Starfighter was at a theater in Redmond, WA, I learned that Bellevue means something VERY different in Washington than in Manhattan.
-
Tires seemed still inflated this morning.
-
George and TCB and Jane and Keith came to Redmond, WA, for a nice HHW get-together to see Last Starfighter. That was wonderful of them to come!

‘Cause they’re waiting for you at Bellevue
With their oxygen masks
But I could give it all to you now
If only you would ask.
-
A little early Springsteen for you.

Once a CPA, always a CPA!

A little early Springsteen for you.
Also Manfred Mann, or am I confused?
-
Oh, I see - Manfred Mann's Earth Band did the later cover of Springsteen's "For You"
-
George and TCB and Jane and Keith came to Redmond, WA, for a nice HHW get-together to see Last Starfighter. That was wonderful of them to come!
We had a wonderful time.
-
I guess I went down a brief Manfred Mann - Springsteen rabbit hole.
I didn't know this -
"Manfred Mann's Earth Band's recording of "Blinded by the Light" is Springsteen's only No. 1 single as a songwriter"
-

It was great seeing all of you!
And it was also so nice of you and Keith to take me to the Seattle airport the next day.
-
That was June 2018! Over seven years ago!
-
Tires seemed still inflated this morning.
That sounds promising!
-
Food ordered - mac and cheese.

Just saw an announcement of a workshop of a "new" musical that happened last week. The "new" musical is Ever After, based on the film of the same name. New? This thing had its first reading in 2007. Many workshops later, it had its first production a decade ago at Paper Mill. Many workshops later here we are again, almost two decades on. I just don't get it.
-

I have never ordered from Wayfair, but now I doubt I ever will.
-
We have never had a problem with Wayfair.
-
The kid is creating art at the zoo, something the Milwaukee Art Museum is doing.
-
I hope DR George is having a great time in Seattle.

A Superfragilistic Tribute to a Once-in-a-Lifetime Friendship!
Richard and Me: A Superfragilistic Friendship by Bruce Kimmel is more than a memoir—it's a tribute to friendship, music, and an indomitable spirit that defies both time and age. Artfully and insightfully, Kimmel unveils the exceptional relationship he had with the legendary Richard M. Sherman, half of the iconic Sherman Brothers who gave wings to dreams of generations.
The ebullient 200-page work establishes the foundational truth that we can make our dearest friends in golden chapters, rather than youth: Kimmel was 51 years old when he met Sherman, who was 72 years old at the time. The meeting occurred by chance while Kimmel was at his desk at the music label Varese Sarabande, where he received an unexpected call from Sherman. For nearly a quarter of a century, they grew and evolved from that point into something unique and resplendent. Since then, Kimmel—a record producer, author, and the driving force behind Kritzerland—has consistently utilized his label to honor Sherman's timeless songs. Sherman, ever affable and radiant, sat in on virtually all of their sessions, ate dinner with Kimmel (and Sherman's wife, Elizabeth), and gamely partook in their collective adventure.
The book includes a wealth of intimate, jubilant, and touching images to accompany the text—stills that showcase private moments between Kimmel and Sherman, as well as moments with Sherman's wife, Elizabeth. The pictures serve as a frame and filler for this special bond across the pages. That classic Walt Disney title font is also a lovely homage to Sherman and his years at the iconic studio. There is a seal of approval from Disney publicity executive Howard Green, found on the back cover, which provides a further touch of enchantment.
The most emotional ramble here is rightly from Sherman's daughter, Victoria, who makes it deeply personal and tells a poignant tale of the strength in this lasting friendship.
Most people spend their entire lives without experiencing this kind of soul connection. Undoubtedly, Kimmel and Sherman's discovery—as well as our own—was a fortunate event.
This book is not solely intended for fans of Disney or the Sherman brothers, but for anyone who firmly believes that friendship can be the most precious gift in life. Kimmel's writing is tender, lyrical, and touchingly human. It sings thanks, dances remembrance, and is the dessert to the intense burn in your chest.
A must-read. A must-feel. It is a magnificent celebration filled with love, laughter, and melodies.

Spit Spot, as Mary Poppins says.

Speaking of spitting, what do you think about people that hock phlegm in public? I think it's gross and uncalled for. I just saw someone do that on the side of the road yesterday.

We had a fun day at the zoo. I especially enjoyed the ride on carousel and the train with the kid. We also got to take her into the special dinosaur exhibit. Her parents had seen it and didn't care to go again.

That does sound like fun!

Yet still on page four.

Four is a bore.

Not feeling motivated to either watch something OR finish the manuscript. I spent too much time today fixing hundreds of mistakes rather than just mushing on. There's something in me that just wants to fix when I see them. I have forty-five pages left.

Pinto bean pie right out of the oven.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show opened 50 years ago today. I feel old.

It’s just a jump to the left …

Pie is interesting good. The cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice make it an autumnal treat.
-
The filling is creamy and sweet.
-
I started with a recipe from the late 1800s. It made enough filling for two pies, so I have added pecans and coconut to the extra filling.
-
Should be wonderful.

I let the crust rest longer than the recipe called for. Then rolled it and filled the pie plate. Then I let it rest again.

It’s flaky and really good.

Oh, I see - Manfred Mann's Earth Band did the later cover of Springsteen's "For You"
Very good memory! Blinded By the Light was such a massive hit, but Manfred Mann’s “For You” kind of tanked nationally, except where I grew up in Chicagoland it was huge, and everyone knows it.
