Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled to the brim with gist, and now it is time for you to post until the gist of the cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SOLILOQUY!

That's a great barstool and a wonderful painting, BK!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I wanted to sleep longer, but three raucous cats this morning absolutely forbade it. First, Stella climbed into bed and walked all over me. then Thatch knocked a couple of plastic bottles of Purell, a roll of paper towels, and the phone onto the floor. That got me moving.
-
Then, while I was making my coffee, Annabelle leaped onto the kitchen sink, nearly burning herself with boiling water and knocking an open tub of non-dairy creamer into the sink. All is now quiet and peaceful, which always happens after their breakfast.
-
Nice bar stool, BK! I'm happy the assembly person actually arrived.
-
DR John G, that wedding dance is something else. They worked so hard on it, I wish them a long and happy marriage.
-
DR George, fun pictures of THE HEAD! How do you feel the presentation went? Did you win the prize? Was there a prize?
-
I successfully entered all of the ASCAP registrations and managed to get - after more tsuris than I needed - the audio book for Annabelle & Thatch.
-
Really nice photos of the assembled barstool and the painting in today's notes.
-
BK, to the mind of this CPA/lawyer, that's a fascinating tale about your dealings with Heritage.
-
Strange that they didn't understand that you didn't have that money at that point.
-
Or that it was THEIR accounting department's error.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, friends.

-
Good morning, all.
-
Good bar stools!
-
And music stand! I have two of those tripod locking stands. The best ever.
Mine are now close to 20 years old (!) and one of them doesn't hold in position as well as it should. It now works best as a laptop stand for when I'm using MainStage.
-
The bar stool does look great!
-
DR MichaelG sez:
No, I hadn't heard of it. Looking it up on Wikipedia I can see why, it doesn't sound like the type of movie I enjoy, even with Detroit locations.
Understood. It's a weird one. Its locations, as I recall, are somewhat nondescript neighborhood-y ones.

R.I.P. Terence Stamp. Here's the link to the Times obituary.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/17/movies/terence-stamp-dead.html
"Terence Stamp, Luminary of 1960s British Cinema, Dies at 87
Known for his “heartbreak blue eyes,” he starred in “Billy Budd” and “The Collector,” and had a memorable role in “Superman” and “Superman II.”"

DR George, fun pictures of THE HEAD! How do you feel the presentation went? Did you win the prize? Was there a prize?
Thanks, Larry! I think it went pretty well, especially considering that we only had one day to set up, do a partial run-through, and take everything down. All the comments afterward were very complimentary.
-
And there wasn't a prize. We just had the opportunity to present our show to a larger audience than we ever had before.
-
DR GEORGE I didn't dare ask about a discount on the rocking chair.....I didn't want to press my luck.....as they say.
-
Terence Stamp was always an interesting actor. I first saw him in BILLY BUDD and thought he was terrific!
-

I can understand that. :)

Happy Sunday! On the new Broadway Radio Show there is indeed "Nothing Like A Dame" as we look at some of the amazing women who have received the title of Dame and have also graced the musical theatre stage! From Julie and Judi to Gracie and Imelda, plus the most recent addition, Dame Elaine, you'll hear from 17 wonderful women.

My most favorite thing with the new computer and keyboard it the touch ID - never having to type a password again - just love it.
Cool.

-
Bruce, the barstools look very nice, and comfortable.
-
I like the Moracco poster. I bet it looks even better in person.
-
Bruce, you might want to put felt pads on the bottom of the stools to protect the floor. It is possible a double pad on the legs that rock will solve the problem.
-
Watched Terence Stamp in a movie last week, the Agatha Christie-based Crooked House. He was good as always.
-
Now watching Paul Robeson in the experimental silent, Borderline. Fascinating editing. Sadly the racism the movie deals eith is all to prevalent 95 years later.

Keith could not alter the photo, by removing Freyja, of me walking the cat without making my body position laughable.
-
There is a less flattering photo of just me and the cat. I'll see if I can post it.

Hopefully this file isn't too large.

Yay, it worked.

Really nice review on Talkin Broadway of Jack Viertel's new show Let the Good Times Roll: A New Orleans Gumbo.
It's already been extended to Sept. 7.

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep. Got up at one, had bagel and lox number one, took pill number one, and maybe now I'll do a little proofing.
-
Is bagel and lox number one the alternate for muffin and jam number one?
-
Nice photo DR JANE.
-
I lost a couple of small branches from my crabapple tree last and this morning.
-
I just watched Good Morning, Miss Dove and now TCM is headed into Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.
Not sure I can survive both of them in one afternoon.

So many errors to fix on each page - this is going to take a very long time.

I don't recall the specifics of "Good Morning, Miss Dove" but I do remember how it made me feel - that I was surprised by how moved I was.

Wow, is this a job, or a favor you're doing?

That back on the new bar stool is very low.....that's more of a back REST.

New batteries in the remote.

That is such a good movie. I also enjoyed the book.

Bruce, I am reading a discussion regarding the changes in Mort's Deli and if it is better or worse. Maybe it depends what you order. One woman said "Average food now and the hustle bustle fun environment is gone. Looking for a new deli in the valley".

Very good, Kevin...at least, about Wordle.

Watching an overly earnest film called Pieces of Dreams with Robert Foster as a priest and Lauren Hutton as the woman he falls for. Roger O. Hirson of Pippin fame penned the screenplay.
-
Gratuitous post 102!
-
Slow posting day.
-
We need rain.
-
But that possibility is not in the forecast until Thursday.
-
So, five more days of temps in the high 90s.
-
Watching an overly earnest film called Pieces of Dreams with Robert Foster as a priest and Lauren Hutton as the woman he falls for. Roger O. Hirson of Pippin fame penned the screenplay.
And Roger O. Hirson is father of David Hirson of "La Bęte" fame.
-
DR John G. reminded me that I had wanted to watch Agatha Christie's Crooked House. And so I did.
-
I am terrible at guessing the murderer, and my (non) record remains intact with this one.
-
From Wiki on "La Bęte" -
"Its Broadway run generated a loss of $2.3 million, making it one of the biggest lossmakers for a non-musical play on Broadway at the time.
The subsequent West End production was a critical and commercial success and won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy. The London cast included Alan Cumming, Jeremy Northam, Timothy Walker and Simon Treves."
-
I didn't realize that the lead is the son of Jeremy Irons.
-
DR John G. reminded me that I had wanted to watch Agatha Christie's Crooked House. And so I did.

-
Frederick is a great name because it contains six names.
OK, you've got my attention. :)
-
I think the cast enjoyed chewing the scenery more than I enjoyed the cast chewing the scenery.
-
That six-name thing was kind of interesting.
-
My favorite Terence Stamp performance, I just remembered, was as an Edgar Allen Poe type in Fellini’s Toby Dammit.
-
That short was like Fellini was trying to outdo Ken Russell.
-
Michel Legrand and the Bergmans wrote the theme song to this movie. It’s not a winner.
-
It was entertaining, DR John G., but not a great movie.
-
I didn't mind staring at Mr. Irons for the duration.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
I didn't mind staring at Mr. Irons for the duration.
I sort of stared at Glenn Close, slackjawed at how poorly she was directed.

Yes, a favor.

I did see the more successful (I assume) Broadway version with Mark Rylance. I think I interviewed David Hyde-Pierce for that. The eternal opening monologue is the main thing i remember.
-
Today I watched a nice print on YouTube of the George Segal-Karen Black drug movie, Born to Win, directed by Ivan Passer.
-
I’d only ever seen it in horrendous VHS and DVDs where it was sold under the name Addict and made to look like bit player Robert DeNiro is the star.
-
I was wrong, I talked to Hyde-Pierce during the run of Curtains.
-
This version of the theme song is much better than the Peggy Lee version in the movie, which sounded kinda warped.

Starting My Favorite Things, a DVD of the concert celebrating 80 years of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
-
Not liking every performer. Like the woman singing What’s the Use of Wonderin’. A performer who doesn’t trust the song.
-
I watched about half.
-
Julian Ovenden did a nice job with This Nearly Was Mine, a song thst always gets to me.
-
I will finish it tomorrow.
-
First let’s ditch this page.
-
Tomorrow night, I usher for a flood relief concert.
-
Lyle Lovett is headlining.
-
Gabriel Iglesias, aka Fluffy, will host.
-
Some special guests are promised.
-
Six!
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing - a documentary comprised of the actual footage from the Eichmann trial, and then-contemporaneous commentary. Pretty riveting. The only thing I'd seen about it was The Man in the Glass Booth.
-
There are at least five movies about the discovery of him living in Brazil.
-
Guess I should write some damn notes.

And ask the all-important question: Where the HELL is everyone?

Isn't that in Route 66?
Flagstaff, Arizona
Don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstool, San Bernardino
:))
-
I love the actual song...especially, of course, The Manhattan Transfer's version.

Frederick is a great name because it contains six names.

And Leo Lionni's book, Frederick, is one of my all-time favorite children's books. :)

I don't know what they all are, though.

There was a local production done back in the mid '90s, and the actor that did that opening monologue was amazing.
