Well, you've read the notes, the notes made overtures, and now it is time for you to post until the overture cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RENOWNED!

Vibes the books get to BK today!
-
TOD: Besides GYPSY of course, I've really enjoyed the overtures on the cast albums of MAME and ANNIE, and for the soundtrack to THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I couldn't get to sleep at all. I think I finally dozed off around 12:30. I'm blaming Thatch, who couldn't decide which side of his bed he wanted to sleep on. Annabelle seemed happy to curl up next to me.
-
Before Ann moved to New York, she lived in St. Paul. so yesterday she and Jen flew to Minnesota to see friends and attend the state fair. I told them to send me a postcard.
-
BK, I love it when you tell us in the notes what live theatre was playing in a certain year. It reminds me of my many years ofd looking through the photos in the yearly Theatre World volumes.
-
I'm not sure what I am up to today. After kitty cleanup, I will bathe. I need to do some book promotion and I need to locate a sheet of 8.5x11 acore paper. I want to scan it and then be able to print out blank worksheets for the ballet. All of this would have been an easy task twenty years ago, but these days it's a lot more work.
-
Good morning, friends.

Good morning, all.
-
I slept like a rock, something I don't always say these days. But I had to get up a little early, so I have to wonder how much longer I could have stayed asleep. Ah well, you never win.
-
I wonder if I ever saw The Earth Dies Screaming. I don't have it here, and I'm betting I never did see it.
-
I don't go for the fatty meat sandwiches, either, and some of the pictures people take of their corned beef or pastrami or brisket sandwiches are positively gag-inducing with the slabs of fat in them that would be so easily removed.
When I make my corned beef here, I'd guess that what I eventually serve after all the trimming would have to be termed EXTREMELY LEAN in restaurants and would therefore cost a bloody fortune. In truth, I probably go a little too far with that, even for my own taste. I know you need a certain amount of fat, for moistness and flavor. When eating, say, a steak, while I'd never put a hunk of fat into my mouth, I do know how a tiny bit as part of a bite of meat can be a good thing.
-
Back to previous post - I've always liked the scores I've heard by Elisabeth Lutyens and I always vow to seek more out.

:) This is very funny because it's very true.

Good morning, all.

Had a bad dream in which I misplaced JB in a pet carrier and couldn’t find him. Don’t need to repeat that one.

No, you don't. And neither do any of us. I've had a dream like that involving a cat at some point, and it's the most horrible thing.
-
DR Elmore, what's the number of staves, etc., you need on that score paper? Are there sites where you can download blank pages of various kinds? I tried to post my own silly one that I scanned several years ago for quick scribbles, but it's a PDF so it can't appear here. I'm sure it's not nearly what you need, anyway.
-
I am like DR DAKOTA CELT - reading takes me away to different places. And certain authors [MR BK] can certainly make you think YOU ARE THERE as they used to say on CBS on Friday night.
-
LOL DR singdaw, I'm sure the pair of keets are completely over the view as well.
-
Tomatoes from Canada were $2.17 lb. today.

15 or 16 staves. I think Joshie will create a template for me. When I need paper, I buy here:
https://www.jgmpaper.com
I knew Judy before her death, because her copy service had been copying for various jobs I had done. I also had been buying paper on and off from her after Associated Music in NYC went under.

Bath over. I didn't slip or fall or kill myself, so it went well.
-
Oh and BYE BYE BIRDIE.
Yes!
-
I kind of liked the creatures in THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING.....scary. And Willard Parker and his wife Virginia Field (who played Vivian Leigh's friend in Waterloo Bridge).
And David Spenser who played the young married guy who used the money he made on this movie to buy a house that he and his partner lived in for the rest of their lives.

August 21.
-
DR Vixmom, enjoy the show tonight.
-
DR Jrand, I am sorry about your shelf breaking.
-
DR John, I liked Before We Were Yours, as well as other books by Wingate.
-
DR George, I'm impressed you stained the boards while you are sick. At least you beat the heat wave and can rest today.

Tomatoes from Canada were $2.17 lb. today.
What do they normally cost?
-
I'm up, I'm up - up and down since three-thirty in the morning. Ridic. Maybe five hours of sleep overall, but who knows.
-
I did like the design of the whatever they were in The Earth Dies Screaming.

According to Fed Ex, packages are out for delivery.
-
Does FedEx provide a reason that it was scheduled for yesterday, but then they changed it to today?
-
Busy morning. And I forgot one ingredient I need at the store.
-
Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos are worth skipping.
-
Even as a pie crust.
-
DR John, I liked Before We Were Yours, as well as other books by Wingate.
I will have to look for her other books.
-
I’m currently reading a collection of letters and writings from Gertrude Bell, a pioneer of Arabia from around the time of T.H. Lawrence.

Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos are worth skipping.
I would think so ;D
-
DR John, I liked Before We Were Yours, as well as other books by Wingate.
I will have to look for her other books.
I thought I had read more than three of her books. Of the three, this was by far the best one.
-
Browsing her other books I see why I passed on them. Her earlier work is labeled "Christian Fiction" and I tend to shy away from those as too often I feel as if they are trying to convert me.
-
But I am more interested right now in this:
Interested in what?
-
Good afternoon.
-
I think it was a page turn, Elmore.
-
We spent over an hour at the bank this morning, closing out our account and opening another one. Plus all the upselling.
-
But I am more interested right now in this:
Interested in what?
The page turn.
-
I’m over it now.
-
Need to get ready for dance class.
-
I’m not looking forward to it because the heat is still oppressive.

They look grandly grand.
-
Hooray for the book arrival!
-
TOD: Candide.
-
Books are here and I'm signing now.
Fantastic!
-
DR JOHN G pet dreams can be most disturbing.
-
Thanks for the On The Twentieth Century link.
I love the move with John Barrymore and Carole Lombard.....the scene with all of the chalk marks on the floor during the "blocking" scene still makes me giggle with glee.
-
DR LAURA I hope you are pleased with the results of your time spent at the bank.
-
I am watching Patricia Neal Day at TCM.
The Grave Digger right now featuring a naked Nicholas Clay which is the ONLY way Nicholas Clay should be seen on screen, in photographs, or in real life.
The Fountainhead, Hud, and A Face in the Crowd coming up.
I had to deal with the execrable Samantha EggAR in Psche '59. The woman has no talent and NO upper lip. Most distracinting. I had to deal with her during Walk Don't Run, The Collector, and Doctor Doolittle. BEGONE! Thank you.
-
Gary Cooper is NOT my idea of Howard Roark....and the final scene seems to be photographed in reversed with his clothes blowing weirdly in the wind.....but then again there has never been an satisfactory film version of ANY Ayn Rand novel....for me.
My name says it all.
-
My email name is Jaynrand....so everyone calls me Jayne......which belabors the point.
-
Such lovely weather today.

Books are here and I'm signing now.

Wonderful :)

I would have thought Jay or Jayn, but not adding an e.

I am hoping for a miracle tomorrow.

DR Jeanne, if you are reading I am getting plugs to treat my dry eyes. I know it is a longshot but I have to give it a try.

So I guess the ANNA AND THE KING sitcom starring Yul Brynner and Samantha Eggar was not must-see TV for you

Keith got Wordle in four.
Me too!

It's looking promising for a storm here! The sky is brown. Hopefully it will be more than just a dust storm.
-
Books are signed and boxed up for the helper - I suppose she'll come tomorrow, but I have my doctor thing and then lunch so won't be back until one or so.

~~~ULTIMATE-STRENGTH PROCEDURE VIBES~~~ for DR Jane for tomorrow!!!
DR John G.'s JB says, "Hello!"
-
Watched The Ballad of Wallis Island tonight. Thanks, DR Jane, for the reminder! :)
Listening to the soundtrack now. There are two: one for the film score, and one for the songs. I am enjoying the songs.
-
My boss took off work today and went to the opening day of the State Fair.
-
Here are a few and sundried samples of foodstuffs.
-
Well, I had about 10 posts to make out that, but this here site is not letting me post photos at the moment.
-
Oh well.
One more.
PAGE FIVE
Good night, friends.
-
PAGE FIVE
Obviously, I am too tired and bleary-eyed to count.
-
DR John G.'s JB says, "Hello!"
Hi, J.B.
-
I'd call it sprinkling. Not much rain. I walked over to the church to put the cover over the soundboard, because the roof leaks over it.
-
I survived dance class. The heat is still oppressive at 10 pm.
-
Sprinkling is better than none.
-
Let’s ditch this page.
-
Now.
-
Five!
-
I’ve started watching Queen of the Desert, which I had never heard of before today.
-
The self-important Nicole Kidman is playing Gertrude Bell I mentioned earlier I was listening to her letters.
-
Werner Herzog directed it about 10 years ago.
-
It’s interesting so far, even Nicole.
-
I just saw this note, Elmore, from my library. They’re ordering Annabelle and Thatch.
“This title will be ordered. However, because we are unable to obtain it from our regular library suppliers, please allow 12-16 weeks for it to appear in the catalog. When it appears in the catalog, you will be able to place a hold.“
-
I am now about an hour into this movie and, well, it does great disservice to a great woman. Herzog doesn’t capture her bravery, intelligence, daring or revolutionary spirit. He defines too much of her life by romantic relationships, which take up only moments in her biography. In other words, he defines her by the men in her life and not on her own terms. A woman should have written and directed this.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Notes are written and am about to shave.
-
But page five?
-
Really?
-
That's a little nutty.
-
A little wacky.
-
Not to mention tacky.
-
Where's Bob Mackie?
-
Or Nurse Jackie?
-
Perhaps if I wear khaki.
-
Or find a lackey.
-
From Iraqi.
-
Or maybe watch Boston Blackie.
-
Must shave.
-
Have shaved.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Page five.
-
Crazy.
-
And lazy.
-
Not fresh as a daisy.
-
A little hazy.
-
Maybe they need some bolognese?
-
They sure need something.
-
Where the HELL is page six?
-
See?
-
Is anybody there?
-
Does anybody care?
-
Does anybody see what I see?
-
I see no one here, that's what I see.
-
And where might George be?
-
Finishing up the three weeks in the making review? :)
-
George, in fact, has not been here once today or this evening. This seems very wrong.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Topic of the Day: Ditto!
I'll also add Merrily We Roll Along and Carousel. :)
-
George, in fact, has not been here once today or this evening. This seems very wrong.
I was at my mom's house today, helping finish up putting things back in her garage after painting the floor a few days ago.
-
We didn't paint under the fridge and freezer yet, so there's that still to do, but it should be fairly easy when we do do it.
-
I came home, ate a bit, then completely zonked out for a few hours. ::)
-
I'll still have no trouble sleeping tonight/tomorrow morning.
-
