Well, you've read the notes, the notes were signed and shipped, and now it is time for you to post until the signed and shipped cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AVIDITY!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Vibes for BK's doctor appointment.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept okay; would have been better if I weren't so restless and my bladder out of control. The cats - all three - behaved, but I was uncomfortable: too warm under the blankets and too cold with them off.
-
DRs John G and Laura, thank you for pointing out DR John G's interest in page turns. It completely eluded me.
-
BK, you've made me want to see Orphan, and I try to avoid watching horror movies.
-
This is a trip to the basement day, and I have no plans after that.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Friday.
-
The gateway to the weekend.
-
Back from the basement; the hall outside the apartment is cooler than inside.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Elmore, did you see my note about the library ordering your book?
-
The gateway to the weekend.
That gate needs to swing open wide.

Appt. vibes for MR BK.
Great news about the Books.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE - it was must avoid TV for me.
-
Friday.
-
Jrand, I thought of you when I read this in an article about STEREOPHONIC playwright David Adjmi.
"David Adjmi Has a ‘Perverse Love’ for Ayn Rand
“Not her politics, but the relentlessness and archness of her characters,” says the prizewinning playwright behind “Stereophonic,” which is now up in London."
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/21/books/review/david-adjmi-stereophonic.html
"Do you count any books as guilty pleasures?
I have a perverse love of Ayn Rand — not her politics, but the relentlessness and archness of her characters. I love the crazy Leni Riefenstahl monumentalism of 'The Fountainhead.'"
-
I'm up, I'm up - six and a half hours of sleep.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Here's to a good commute and doctor visit for BK.
-
I haven't seen Orphan yet, either. That, and so many other new movies, continue to fall off my radar. I do love ketchuping with them.
-
DR Kevin, good job on the Wordle in four yesterday.
-
DR Laura I hope you got rain.
Darn, I see you only got a sprinkling. At least it was something.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to the doctor.
-
Thank you DR Singdaw. The proceedure is easy, it is what comes after ;D
-
From DR Singdaw:
Watched The Ballad of Wallis Island tonight. Thanks, DR Jane, for the reminder! :)
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
-

-
Bruce, good vibes all goes well at your appointment with the neurologist.
-
I have one doctor that I see in Portland and I stress about the drive, always allowing more time just in case. Once there it can take awhile to park in the large complex so I need to add extra time for that.
-
Fortunately I only go to that doctor once a year.
-
Elmore, did you see my note about the library ordering your book?
I did. I hope lots of readers check it out. Thanks for requesting it.
-
Neurologist vibes for bk!
-
Doctor vibes also for DR JANE.
-
Thanks for that link DR FREDDIE.
Most entertaining. I think there are many folks who feel that way about Ayn Rand's books......ignore the politics and enjoy the story.
-
Elmore, did you see my note about the library ordering your book?
I did. I hope lots of readers check it out. Thanks for requesting it.
I hope they order multiple copies.
-
I cleaned a little. Drove myself crazy with a new vacuum cleaner. Baked a crustless pinto bean pie with coconut and pecans. Watched the rest of Queen of the Desert.
-
The library has ordered the Lodon cast live recording of Opening Night.
-
Thanks for that link DR FREDDIE.

That can be applied to moi. On my first read-through of Atlas, I was thoroughly taken with Dagny's cross-country search for you-know-who. I even read that entire middle part again on a couple of occasions.
But get this, DR Jrand74: Guess what the very first inspiration was for me to learn how to fly? I kid you not. I had read it several years before being taken on that first flight around L.A., but that initial spark was already in place.
-
To be clear, I liked many other parts of that book, and others, as well, but that section was the standout.
What else did I read back in the day? The Fountainhead, Anthem, We the Living (really liked that one), don't remember what else.
(I caught the last ten minutes of The Fountainhead on TCM last night prior to watching Hud - which believe it or not, I had never seen before. Enjoyed that very much. I would have carried on with A Face in the Crowd, if sleep didn't matter. But it did, and I own that one anyway.)
-
Friday afternoon greetings!
Elmore, did you see my note about the library ordering your book?
I did. I hope lots of readers check it out. Thanks for requesting it.
DR Elmore, I just came from Zooming to this month’s book discussion at the library where my career began. After we discuss the monthly selection we go around and tell what else we’ve been reading. I showed my copy of Annabelle & Thatch and said the author graduated from both Middletown High and Miami University. Without any coercion the current director said he was going to order a copy!
-
Good work, DR Ginny! :)
-
Doctor vibes also for DR JANE.
Thank you.
-
I love numbing drops.
-
Hopefully once the drops wear off I'll still be ok with the plugs.

That's great. I believe libraries should carry books by local authors.
-
From the ophthalmologist's office I walked over to the gym to meet Keith. The sun was on my back and I kept having to pull my shirt away from me it was soooo hot.
-
I had time to use some of the equipment but not the treadmill.
-
I requested the library order my latest. They bought the others.
-
I'm changing my top and getting out for a walk before it gets too hot. I will mostly stay in the shade.
-
Hopefully once the drops wear off I'll still be ok with the plugs.
Vibes all will be OK.
-
DR Jane, I wonder if those plugs are similar to what I got after the two cataract surgeries. I think those were steroids, and mine were working their way out after a few days so they changed me over to drops. Hope you have better luck with keeping them in! :)
-
How DOES one request libraries to buy books?
-
Back from the neurologist and a very confusing search for my car - somehow I ended up in the wrong lot for the east tower - have no idea how that happened but it took fifteen minutes to figure it out.
-
Had a good visit. Definitely have Myasthenia Gravis. Tomorrow, I add to the pill count with Prednisone, some supplement, and one other thing that I take weekly - four in one day to start, then six, then eight, but only the one day a week. He wants to wait on the other two pills to see how these work. I have a phoner in four weeks for progress. Interestingly, all these new pills have zero co-pay and I think they did the other pills incorrectly and I will be bringing that up when I go to pick all this stuff up this evening.
-
I decided to chance Laurel Canyon and it was fine all the way there and all the way home.
-
Just ordered food from Stanley's with a 50% off coupon. Through Grubhub where there are zero fees so this was a great deal. I have two more meals at fifty percent, so that takes care of Sunday and Monday.
-
I do hope ChasSmith and Jrand give Orphan a try.
-
Food is on the way.
-
I'm hungry.
-
Hopefully once the drops wear off I'll still be ok with the plugs.
Vibes all will be OK.
Thank you. So far the irritation isn't too bad. I really need to give these a try for at least a couple of weeks.
-

These are to keep my tears from draining and to help them stay on my eyes and keep them moist. For the first couple of days they are can fall out if I rub my eyes.
-
Because my eyes were irritated and red this morning, and had been itching more than usual, I now have steroid eye drops. They are only to use as needed, and only for a short period of time.
-
After my cataract surgery I was given eye drops, not plugs.
-
How DOES one request libraries to buy books?
I just sent this link for the LA library system to my brother https://www.lapl.org/about-lapl/contact-us/suggest-purchase#:~:text=We%20will%20make%20every%20effort,the%20status%20of%20the%20request.
-
Bruce, do you have an active library card with the LA libraries? Do they include the Valley?
-
How DOES one request libraries to buy books?
There is a dropdown on my library’s website that’s called Suggest a Purchase. I filled it out.
-
Back from the neurologist and a very confusing search for my car - somehow I ended up in the wrong lot for the east tower - have no idea how that happened but it took fifteen minutes to figure it out.
Confusing lot like when I go to the large hospital in Portland.
-
Watching my first Sean Baker movie, Prince of Broadway. It’s ugly but not unbelievable. I am halfway through, and I don’t like the main character yet.
-

Very good new. Vibes you do fine with the Prednisone.

I am reading about the crazy controversy over Cracker Barrel changing their logo.
-
I do not understand how changing from the bottom image to the top image is "woke" or political ::)
-
Elmore, did you see my note about the library ordering your book?
I suggested it for my library today.
-
If they order it, they automatically place a hold for me. But if they don't order it, I don't think I even get a notice about that...but I could be wrong.
-

One argument is that they too out the cracker...the white guy.
;)

George, I suspect you are right about not notifying you if they don't get the book.

Very cool!
-
The last 30 minutes of Prince of Broadway have been good.
-
Hopefully once the drops wear off I'll still be ok with the plugs.

LOL, I thought cracker referred to actual crackers, not a white guy.

Thank you.

BRUCE, FUTURE PARKING TIP:
USE YOUR PHONE & TAKE A PHOTO OF WHERE YOU PARKED!
There's supposed to be a way in Google Maps to save your parking location, and I did that, but I can't figure our how to change it! It's stuck on the same parking place in Tacoma! :o

I'd read that somewhere and it may have been a joke, but in this day and age, you just don't know anymore. ::)

I have used my air tag to find my car, but only on streets and not in a parking lot.
-
I did take a photo but didn't notice the color was different - the wrong lot was orange, mine was blue - once I figured that out, I figured out how to get back to the west tower lot.
-
Food was a LOT - not usually this big. I also accidentally let a fly in the house and that is REALLY bugging me, so I'll wait it out and unalive it.
-
Helper has the books.

;D
-
The local hospital where my primary physician is located uses a different animal for each level. I like that. Of course not having two towers is much easier to begin with.
-
Good afternoon.
-
Stirring from a nap.
-
Gratuitous post 100!
-
Hi, Laura!
-
Back from the neurologist and a very confusing search for my car - somehow I ended up in the wrong lot for the east tower - have no idea how that happened but it took fifteen minutes to figure it out.
It's obvious: the parking lot gremlins moved your car.
-
It only got to 90 here today. I know you’re jealous.
-
I had two drops in my rain gauge from the Big Storm.
-

They are dastardly.
-
It's only 108.
-
I made a trip to Costco today to buy flour, walnuts, and sugar for the upcoming hosting season at my church.
-
Which made me remember why I chose not to renew the membership.
-
It's way too crowded and the checkout lines are too long.
-
First world problems.
-
It only got to 90 here today. I know you’re jealous.
It is currently 99 here.
-
I had two drops in my rain gauge from the Big Storm.
:(
-
Keith got Wordle in five.
-
I do not understand how changing from the bottom image to the top image is "woke" or political ::)
Because certain people need a new thing each day about which to have performative rage. They're addicted to it.
-
Glad you had a good medical appointment, BK.
-
Opening Night does not appear to be streaming yet on iTunes.
-
OK. I will see if this picture thing is working again.

As I thought, crackers.
"The name "Cracker Barrel" refers to the traditional practice in old country stores where a large barrel of soda crackers would be a central gathering point for people to chat and catch up on news, much like a modern-day water cooler. The founder, Dan Evins, chose the name to evoke a Southern country theme for his restaurant chain, which was designed to resemble the country stores of his childhood."

I just did something similar for Annabelle & Thatch on the MidPointe Library System (formerly Middletown Public Library) website.
-
BTW, they checked my vitals - all good!
-
Very good.
-
BTW, they checked my vitals - all good!
Good news, BK!
-
Having good vitals is vitally important.
-
Having good victuals is also important.
-
In fact, Vital Victuals would be a good name for a catering business.
-
Smoke on your pipe and put that in!

Opening Night does not appear to be streaming yet on iTunes.
It's due out in full on September 12, but 4 songs are up already. Searching for "John Cassavetes' Opening Night" may help.
-
That did the trick! Thanks so much, DR MichaelG!
-
And why do the streamers make it so hard to find stuff unless you know the exact sequence to search on? Criminy!!
-
Sunday is "Jazz Sunday" at the church where my DH is the music director. He has programmed the Claude Bolling Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano (No. 1) with guest musicians. Should be swingin'.
-
That was a big thing 30 years ago, but you almost never hear it now.
-
Whilst I was searching for Opening Night, I found Rufus Wainwright's Prima Donna, which appears to be legitimately classical.
Don't know anything about that.
-
Thanks for all the vibes for my mother. She is recovering nicely, although right now it looks like she has 2 black eyes.
But - she is cancer-free!
-
Good night, friends.

And others.

Sounds like fun.
-
These NewsRadio episodes really make me laugh.
-
Had a nice dinner with my friend Gail tonight.
-
It’s the end of Restaurant Weeks.
-
We went to a French place. Everything was wonderful, including the lamb shank for the main course. I even got marrow skewers and a fork to get every last tasty morsel. Yum.
-
I like vittles with my vitals.
-
In a little while I'll go pick up my pill assortment.
-
Does anyone know Ben Jones and Laurence Hobgood? They’re performing in town at a club that’s also hosting Tony Danza for an evening. I haven’t been to the club before.
-
But I don’t know if I want to go.
-
It’s getting late.
-
But we’re close to another page.
-
Guest stars on NewsRadio included John Ritter, who is very missed from the sitcom scene, and Bebe Neuwirth.
-
I hope I have time tomorrow to get to High and Low.
-
Listening to Fannie Flagg read her latest, Something to Look Forward To.
-
It’s pure Fannie Flagg, which is a mighty good thing to be.
-
Lots of laughs wrapped in something warm and familiar.
-
I was introduced to her once at a book festival. She was as warm as her writing.
-
I also have an autographed copy of A Redbird Christmas.
-
Finally.
-
Seven!
-
Hello, Rupert!
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from picking up pills - one of the new ones wasn't quite ready and I have questions for the doc before I take them, so I'll get that one tomorrow or Sunday.
-
Computer needs to do update.
-
Updating stuff on the old computer usually took thirty minutes to be completely up and running. This took about twenty seconds.
-
Cannot recommend this mac mini strongly enough.
-
Back from the neurologist and a very confusing search for my car - somehow I ended up in the wrong lot for the east tower - have no idea how that happened but it took fifteen minutes to figure it out.

And just imagine what would've happened if he had been driving a Gremlin! ;D
-
Are there gremlins for Gremlins...Gremlin gremlins?? :))
-
It's way too crowded and the checkout lines are too long.
That's too bad. :(
-
Things like that never really bother me. :-\ I don't know why.
-
My niece can't be in crowds anymore because of her hearing, but my sister just doesn't like crowds in general.
-
So, I do a lot of shopping for them. ::)
-
Keith got Wordle in five.
