Well, you've read the notes, the notes popped, and now it is time for you to post until the pill-popping cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BLABBER!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
And a VERY happy heavenly birthday to the much-missed TCB.

And a VERY happy heavenly birthday to the much-missed TCB.
Yes, TCB is greatly missed.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Oh, God, do I miss TCB! I think of him often.
-
And now I'm blubbering like a baby. He was such a good friend.
-
Speaking of dear friends, DR George and his sister's boyfriend, whose name happens to be Larry, were able to produce for me several wonderful souvenirs of the Indiana University video of the closing performance as well as a Blu-Ray DVD of the complete videon excellent sound, which I watched last night.
Our DR George is a true mensch, one of the absolute best. Thank you, DR George!
-
I have a few piddly jobs today, so I'm taking it easy.
-
DR Ginny, thanks for the book promotion!
-
As soon as BK mentioned Donovans Reef, I thought, I saw that, but thinking about it now, I cannot remember a thing: plot, cast, visual memories, not a stinkin' thing.
-
Your government at work!
-
I went to IMDB and looked up Donovan's Reef. Nothing rings a bell, so maybe I never did see it!
-
Our DR George is a true mensch, one of the absolute best. Thank you, DR George!
I absolutely concur!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.

-
I love putting on warm underwear, fresh out of the dryer.
-
Plus, it's fun to look around the laundromat and guess who they belong to.
-
Most days, I'm happy with my life choices.
But someone on Gavin Newsom's social media team is getting paid to bully 47, and I didn't know that was a career option.

I don't think I have read any novels of Fannie Flagg beyond Fried Green Tomatoes. Perhaps I should.

I wonder how Fannie Flagg's career would have been different if she'd been allowed to go by her birth name, Patricia Neal.

Good morning, all. (Just in time.)
-
Got to sleep in a little bit, and it's quite the beautiful day. Breezy, but sunny and clear, and won't get too warm. The proverbial first day of fall type of feeling.
-
I've always had the vague memory of my family going to see Donovan's Reef at a drive-in, but no memory at all of the movie. If that did happen then, I haven't seen it since, and I'd really like to. It sounds delightful.
-
I really need to do some outdoors-y work today.
And I've been saying this all summer, but this evening I really must go down to the Sycamore Drive-In and take in the vintage cars and have a cheeseburger and their delicious root beer.

After posting this quote ""Future dystopia books can be hard on the stomach these days because, you know, reality." I began reading The Dream Hotel by Laila Lalami. It truly fits the quote. I had to begin another book for reading at night while saving The Dream Hotel for the gym.
-
The "hotel", never to be called a prison, is actually a holding faciltiy while the main character is assesed since it was dertimined by her dreams that in the future she will harm her husband.
-
The book I am reading for fun is about a chinese girl sold to a family and gowing up a slave.
-
It is much easier to read about the past knowing that the story is in the past. Reading a dystopian novel that relates too closely to what we see happening these days is really hard.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of good sleep.

True. But it can still be aggravating.
-
I really don't like horror movies at all, unless they are really well done, like Psycho or The Curse of Frankenstein or Black Sunday or Rosemary's Baby. I've never watched a Friday the 13th film, never seen Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. But while Orphan does have a couple of horror scenes - the opening especially - stick with it. The acting is really good and Isabelle Fuhrman is brilliant as Esther. And any movie that uses The Glory of Love throughout is okay by me.
-
Nice weather today.
Weeds have been eaten.
-
Watching some hoss racing.
-
I began the clearing of brush and other crap on the messy hillside behind the house. It was time to clean it up anyway, but I want to because we'll be having tree people in to take down a tree there in a couple of months. They'll need access, and like I said, I'd let it go to hell these last couple of years.
-
I don't watch the Friday the 13th kind of "horror" film either. I'm trying to think of any of those franchises I've liked. Hmmm? Maybe none. I lump all of those in with slasher films, which are of no interest. I do like good horror, though.
-
My cousin Miriam is coming over after synagogue. She's in The Bronx but goes to synagogue in Manhattan.

Thanks. It was lovely seeing her.

That looks great!
-
Keith's description of the movie, Nobody, that we watched last night....."It is very violent but a feel good movie". That's about it-lol
-
I do appreciate every couple of years watching Halloween, the original. You can't fault that one. Carpenter hit it out of the park, and films of that ilk have been unleashed on us ever since.
The second one is inferior but watchable, even if I never remember anything about it. Same with III, which is just off-the-wall bizarre and I've enjoyed sitting through it a few times. Beyond that, no way no how.

Last night (so I guess this is kind of a Friday TOD) I TCM'ed it again. It was Sinatra night, and I was totally up for staying awake through The Man With the Golden Arm for - I kid you not - my first time ever seeing the whole thing. My god, it's fantastic. And there is nothing better than Saul Bass main titles accompanied by an urgent jazzy score like this one of Elmer Bernstein's. A winner.

I've always called it an organ recital.

Today is the first anniversary of Mom’s death. Not easy, but I know she’s better off.
Hugs, John. I know how you feel. It's been over 20 years since my mom died, and I still miss her.
-
I went up north today to look for butterflies. It was a bust. It was nice to hike with other folks, though, and the woods were nice and cool and beautiful.
-
I do not watch horror movies. I learned when I watched Creature From the Black Lagoon as a child not to watch scary things.

Finished Donovan's Reef.

Genghis Cohen has now been disappointing three times. Something is awry there - maybe it's just the day chef, but the orange chicken isn't even a shadow of what it used to be, same with the string beans. I don't get it. It says it's the same owners since 2015, but the last three or four times I've been there, no one, and I mean not a single person, is there from the old days.
