Well, you've read the notes, the notes sparkled, and now it is time for you to post until the sparkling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPRIGHTLY!
-
John Barry is the berries.
-
Such memorable themes with such memorable tunes.
-
Tunes you can hum.
-
Tunes that aren't dumb.
-
Tunes to beat the drum.
-
And the movies they are from.
-
Some sprightly, some glum.
-
Tunes you listen to whilst staying mum.
-
Gimme some.
-
As a rule of thumb.
-
They don't leave me numb.
-
Congratulations, John G, on your wonderful new posting Millstone in last night's posts!
-
BK wrote in the notes: "Well, dear readers, let me just say this: This."
Relating to that, here's the song "This" that Skip wrote with Ellen Fitzhugh.
"This" - Music by Skip Kennon, Lyric by Ellen Fitzhugh

Loved the pie photos, John G!

TOD: I'd say the most pills in one day must have been when I was in the hospital after my surgery in June 2019. They'd give me a bunch of pills and a cup of water, but it was too many to swallow all the pills in one gulp.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I don't know if it's the weather or changing season, but at 5:30 this morning, it was dark outside. The cats and I cuddled until 6:00 when I decided we had enough of that.
-
I don't have to leave the apartment today, so I will spend part of the morning sorting the laundry, which I must do. I also have a few things I need to print, so I need to organize that.
-
DR Jeanne, thank you for purchasing my book. Annabelle, Thatch, and I are grateful.
-
DR Jeanne, I hope the condo search ends to your satisfaction very asoon.
-
I've never seen the Prime Suspect in today's notes, but I do love Pretty Poison.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
.
-
:)
-
:)
That IS interesting!
-
Happy heavenly birthday, Leonard Bernstein!

One of the reviews of my new book on Amazon said in his review that he had loved "21st Century Oldies" volumes 1 and 2, but he gives the new book four stars. I looked back, and he had given volumes 1 and 2 five stars. (He also mentioned "The Little Things You Do Together" from Company among songs he had to google to find. Maybe I need to emphasize more that the songs are mostly show tunes.)
I could "rationalize" that a 4.8-star average maybe possibly looks more realistic - but 5 stars as an average sure felt good for a while. :). I guess if I can stay at a 4.8 or so average, that'll be OK.
This is very nice in this review, though; it feels good to think of the books in this way:
"There are 69 songs this time – with the lyrics printed in easy-to-read typeface ...
The book is priced low as it is – honestly – time sensitive. Landau sure knows how to write clever lyrics and, if you have previous volumes, you’ll want this one too. This is the kind of book you leave in in your living room or den (after you’ve enjoyed it yourself of course), for when friend drop over and you want to keep them busy while you are out of the room. You’ll probably come back to hear them humming, and smiling, to themselves."

Page Two!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I take 9 pills a day. One is a pill I take two of in the morning and another two in the evening.
-
Good morning.
-
I take 16 pills per day. But that includes vitamins/supplements.
-
There are sometimes some pills that are on a different schedule than daily. These days, my doctor has me take vitamin D in a prescription capsule twice a month. He said it's best to keep it on the 1st and 16th of each month so as not to forget.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Monday.
Need I say more?
-
I've never seen the Prime Suspect in today's notes, but I do love Pretty Poison.
Same here.
-
Good to see DR Jeanne. Here's hoping for success, and soon!
-
DR Laura, thanks for the report on Let the Good Times Roll.

This should put Trump's Depends in a bunch!

DR Laura, thanks for the report on Let the Good Times Roll.
Yes, very happy to hear it's a good show!

Randy Rainbow has a new song.
-
The song starts at 3 minutes.

Congrats to DR JOHN G on his millstone.

Condo vibes for DR JEANNE.
-
DR singdaw that was a nice picture yesterday.
I like your shirt very much!

My MasterCard got sold to another bank - so I had to activate it today and make it my preferred payment today......time consuming....and then set up the card account to be paid by checking account....more time.
Just about done.

Very nice weather....67 degrees right now with a high of 71 degrees later this afternoon.
Tomorrow is my regular doctor's appt. We shall see what we shall see.

Do you have the link?
-
Thank you DR Jeanne.

Nice family photo DR Singdaw :)
-
DR Freddie, we have not watched Hostage. Thank you for mentioning it. I will ask Keith if he wants to see it. I'm guessing he will.

Congrats to DR John on your new milestone.

From DR George:

Nay from me as I prefer the center pieces of brownies.
My niece does, too.
When I bake brownies I take the pan out of the oven and cut the outer edges first so they will be moist, return the pan and continue baking until the inside is cooked enough. Bryan complained as he wanted the crispier edges and I had to adjust my brownie baking for him ;D
-
:)
LOL, we addressed this subject right here after I typed, my preferred, frig to fridge.
-
"while "frig" was an earlier spelling, the "d" in "fridge" was added to follow English spelling patterns for words with a soft "g" sound, making it the standard and accepted spelling today."
-
Monday afternoon greetings! I’m gearing up for the arrival on Wednesday of my sister and niece.

Same here, DR JRand. The new card doesn’t expire until just before my 80th birthday >:(

This is a very nice review, and from a person who rarely gives anything stars, I think four stars is excellent.

I am seeing a new audiologist today.
-
When I was on the phone with the office manager making the appointment she asked about insurance. I have insurance but I didn't think their office covered it. While telling her the story of having left a message with the office that carried my insurance, and that they never called me back, I looked at my notes to see who I had called. I then exclaimed "It was you I called".
-
I don't think she will forget me now, and she really was very nice. Plus her speaking voice is good. I had called another office and actually had to say "You do know I am deaf" ::)

Thanks, Jane.
That's an upbeat way of looking at it.

No, only the one which might cover something from my insurance. I have no idea if she was the office manager at the time my call wasn't returned. The person who doesn't speak well, but is very nice, is at a different office.
-
Thank you, all, for the milestone mementos. Onward.

They've remade Maurice?
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Pill one taken. I'm concerned about speech issues - I'm wondering if the Prednisone in conjunction with the other one I've been taking, which seemed to improve the speech issues, is causing a problem. I'll consult with the doctor because I don't have time for this to go back being bad.
-
BK, vibes the speech issues get fully resolved!
-
Smash that sandwich to make it easier to eat.
-
They've remade Maurice?
I think I've been taken in by a social media hoax. I can't find any credible evidence that this movie exists.
-
A new MAURICE?
I do not know if I am intrigued or appalled.
-
Interesting telephone story DR JANE.
-
I know DR GINNY all of those passwords and text codes.
I am now part of Barclay's Bank which I always thought was a British institution.
-
I like your shirt very much!
Thank you! It's funny; I don't even remember it.
-
It's still hot and sticky. Blech.
-
The weather website says big storms headed our way tonight. I hope for rain without the scary wind. And no power outage.

Oh no! Vibes you can get this fixed.

TOD: Probably 9 - my daily 4, the seasonal allergy drug, and 4-times-a-day antibiotics after some dental surgery. Never again for 4-times-a-day if I can help it; 3-times-a-day works way better for my schedule.
-
TOD:
Right now I am at seven including all presscriptions and supplements.
-
I take a lot of supplements so I won't even go there. I only have three prescription pills. Two I take around 6:00 or as soon as I wake up if I sleep through the 6ish time. I can't eat for an hour after taking those so I wait at least that before taking the 3rd pill.
-
After the first pills I have to wait four hours before I can take a calcium supplement.
-
Bruce, I found one Glycine three times a day, with the last one about half an hour before bedtime, works better for me than melatonin..
-
Big haboob hitting the valley.
-
I'll wait for another day or two to see how the speech thing goes. About to take pill two and then the four pill thing - took the Prednisone an hour ago.
-
Food arrived - very good but missing coleslaw on the pulled pork sandwich - but boy do they make a good sandwich - smallish, but great meat and sauce. Had baked beans with it.
-
Otherwise, have just been proofing with a couple of breaks.
-
Big haboob hitting the valley.
Do you think it will hit you? Be safe. Vibes you at least get some rain with it.
-
Oh, it hit!
-

Since you are on Prednisone I suggest you watch your weight carefully.

The wind is fierce.

I'm watching videos.

I know ChasSmith will love this video on YouTube, but I think others will, too - home movies on Hollywood Blvd. Sabucat, whose channel it's on, is someone I've known for forty years - fellow collector from way back when. He lists this clip as being from 1970. Close, but no cigar. The double bill at the Hollywood opened on February 10, 1971 and played a couple of weeks there. However, on Feb 10th, the Chinese was playing The Great White Hope. They didn't ever take a shot of the marquee and were pretty far away from the one-sheet display, but I could tell the one-sheet wasn't The Great White Hope. So, I went to February 17 - the double bill at the Hollywood was still the same and the Chinese opened a new movie on that date, Promise at Dawn, and that is exactly the one-sheet in the display case. So, this footage was shot between the 17th and the 23rd. I think Jane will enjoy this, too.

Laura, is it dark outside from the storm?
-
Swallowed all four pills in one go - they're TINY.

Now for some chocolate licorice.
-
Swallowed all four pills in one go - they're TINY.
My favorite kind of pills.

It was really dark. The rain helped with the dust. The rain was coming down sideways.
-
Interestingly, the weather map shows the really big cell skirting right around me. It must have really been something in the middle of it!

Yay for the rain. I can easily imagine how hard the wind was blowing if the rain was sideways.

DR Laura I hope you don't have any damage to your property.

I’m glad the haboob wasn’t worse, Laura.

Five!

Today is the 50th anniversary of the release of Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run.
-
That makes me feel old.

I also finished a book today, Tonight in Jungleland, about the recording.

It was a little too journalistic.

Taking another break, but if I proof a few more pages, I'll have done two-thirds and I can probably finish in a few days. They sent me a $250 gift card for The Cheesecake Factory, so that's fun. More gift cards coming, I'm told. So many misspelled names or wrong names completely - so cleaning all that up is a good thing. She also talks about seeing Richard Pryor in 1976 (she didn't - it was late 75) and how there was no opening act, but there was - I have an image of the poster from that, his ONLY engagement at the Shubert in Century City - Etta James. She said no at first, but then thought about it and agreed that Etta had opened the show.
-
So, my burning question of the day is: what do y'all think of hot (spicy) honey? It seems to be everywhere these days - recipes, menus. I have never tried it myself, but I'm curious.
-
I am glad you are getting some gift cards, BK. You are sure earning them.
-
I've been invited to the 100th birthday party of a woman who lives in our building. It's in a few weeks.
-
Wednesday night we are going out to dinner with our across the hall neighbors plus the couple that lived in our apartment before us.

So, my burning question of the day is: what do y'all think of hot (spicy) honey? It seems to be everywhere these days - recipes, menus. I have never tried it myself, but I'm curious.
Too sweet.
-
Starting Crossed Swords, which isn’t as good as the Musketeers movies.
-
But some of it is a pleasant diversion.

Can gift cards be used for takeout?
That could be as good as getting paid. It could keep you having good quality meals for a long while.

Kill me now. There's gold in this thing, and it will get much further study. Some absolutely precious shots of things, big and small. That's funny, M*A*S*H at the Vogue, because I think I saw it at the Egyptian sometime in the following year. Amazing, all of it.

It seems to usually be a gimmick to sweeten and spice otherwise boring food. If it's a savory, I don't need it sweet; if it's dessert, I don't want it spicy.
-
Thanks for your interesting opinions about hot honey.
-
I saw it used to drizzle on a watermelon salad with mint and feta.
-
But watermelon is already pretty sweet on its own.

Our best hope is that 47 is taking medical advice from Robert Kennedy Jr.

Good night, friends.

Crossed Swords is losing its charm.

Good night, Singdaw.

Page turn!

I just read a fascinating book called Sammy and the Pecan Pie.
-
Sadly it did not come with pie.
-
But it did offer some philosophical insight:
“Some people think that life is like a pie,” Mom began. “If someone gets a big piece, there is less for you. But really, life is more like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Everyone can have all the pie they want.”
-
Gift cards can't be used for third-party delivery, but can be used for pick-up and dine in. Cheesecake Factory is only five minutes from here, so I may just go over there in the afternoon and have some nice meals there, like I used to do at Jerry's. I figure I can do about eight or nine meals there.

I don't know from hot honey.

Nice link in MR BK's post.

And where exactly has George been this ENTIRE day and evening?

Where oh where?

Which is why we're on page six.

Most unseemly absence.

Absence does not make the heart grow fonder.

Absence is like an abscess - irritating.

Any relation to Jiminy Glick? ;)

Gone the entire day and evening, until now.
-
I'm quite sure everyone would like to know why.
-
I know I would.
-
Time is of the essence.
-
Essence is of the time.
-
Today was a day.
-
First, I drove my friend Shelly do a dermatology appointment in Lakewood. I also go there, so it wasn't difficult to find.
-
And yet, there he sits, eating a fatty meat sandwich and twiddling thumbs.
-
Just as we were leaving, my mom called, asking if I could come over to Lacey because she couldn't get her car out of gear.
-
She was able to get it started, so it wasn't the battery, but she wasn't able to make it move.
-
Fortunately, Shelly was done with her appointment, so we headed south, which took about a half hour to get where she said she was going to be.
-
But she wasn't there. :o
-
I haven't been able to get out of gear since last Friday.
-
Missing mother.
-
I called her, and it turned out that she was finally able to get her car to move, and since she didn't have her cell phone with her (she called from a hair stylist's phone), and she didn't want to go back into the hair stylist, she just went home and called me from there.
-
Get Perry Mason.
-
She left a message on my phone, but I never noticed that she had called. I don't know what THAT was about. :P
-
Anyway, I was able to call her, and since she got her car moving, she decided to celebrate by going to the casino. ::)
-
;D
-
That's all fine and well...so Shelly and I left where we were supposed to pick up mom.
