Well, you've read the notes, the notes tried to remember, and now it is time for you to post until the September cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SIMPATICO!
-
Vibes BK's two important envelopes are at the mail place!
-
Regarding the TOD:
I know that for years, we resisted adding on HBO and HBO Max for some reason. Now that we have those, I'm very glad we added them. If I'm remembering right, we got HBO for a specific series, convinced we'd drop it soon after, but I'm glad we kept it.
On the other hand, we got Acorn as a free trial, and found one series we really enjoyed, "The Madame Blanc Mysteries" - but somehow not much else felt to our liking on Acorn. So we watched the several seasons which were available of "The Madame Blanc Mysteries" and then discontinued Acorn.
-
I think we will go back and renew Acorn at least for a while when a new season of "The Madame Blanc Mysteries" becomes available. It's a bit goofy in its plotting, but the leads especially (the characters and the actors) made them as a couple solving crimes great fun to follow.

Good day everyone

Good morning, Michael and Freddie. :)

Hello George
-
Topic of the Day: I have none. ::) My sister and quite a few friends subscribe to some streaming services, but I just never jumped on the bandwagon.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good day everyone
Hi, Michael!
-
Vibes BK's two important envelopes are at the mail place!
Ditto!

I am quite exhausted. I spent much of the morning and afternoon tidying up the apartment. I hadn't had real company in some time, and the place needed as much of a going-over as I could give it. But it was hard work, and by the time Peteer Filichia showed up, my body was really aching.
-
So, Peter arrived at 6:00 with two boxes of pizza, each containing two slices, one for each of us. His was cheese, and mine was the works: peperoni, olives, and God aloe knows what else. I hadn't had pizza in maybe six month or more, and it was really, really good!

Annabelle was a complete pest and Stella was a cautious one. Thatch did his usual hiding under the bed when strangers enter his space. We gossiped, he told me about his show at 54 Below, which sounds like a lot of fun, and I lived vicariously through his accounts of things he'd seen this season. It was quite a wonderful visit, and he left just a little before 8:30 with a signed copy of Annabelle & Thatch and Grover Dale's autobiography, which I had read and really enjoyed.
-
I checked my emails and sent BK one, thanking him for some help yesterday. Then I tidied up a bit and was in bed by 9:15. Thatch and Annabelle hopped in with me, and I couldn't get to sleep because of the intense pains in my right arm. Around 11:45 I reset the alarm to give me more possible sleeping time and tried another sleeping position that sent Annabelle up to her mountain chalet and irritated Thatchm but the leg pains were so bad I soon returned to my previous position.
-
I slept poorly on and off the rest of the night. It was hell and now I can barely stay awake.
-
I will try to do the laundry this morning. I hope no one else has the same idea.

Good morning, all.

It is time to happily labor. Or happily not labor. Which is it to be?
-
Good to hear the visit from Peter Filichia was good. Pizza sounds great, too.
-
So... night two of Truffaut and beach partaying.
Jules and Jim was rather incredible, me having not seen it probably since my Nuart days. And Muscle Beach Party was a nice dessert. I had forgotten about Buddy Hackett being in this one, and he actually comes off like a more normal person, as opposed to his more pronounced character roles in The Music Man and Mad World prior to this one.
-
I've tried to watch Mister Buddwing a few times over the years. It certainly seems like something that would be right up my alley in atmosphere and intrigue. But as I recall, I found it boring. And maybe I had lousy copies of it, but I'm thinking it always looked kind of murky. BK's observations are probably right on. The elements are there, but it just doesn't work.
-
Next Truffaut movie will be The Soft Skin which I know I haven't seen. I didn't know I had it, but sure enough, it's a Criterion release that I'd picked up whenever. It's so nice to find little gifts like that in the collection once in a while.
-
Well, the laundry will wait till tomorrow' I cannot get my energy up to face it. Kitty cleanup was worn me out, so I plan to le down for a while and hopefully nap.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on her millstone.

Good news from DR JEANNE about her S. Crow.
-
DR ELMORE you know the best people and vice versa.

I just edited my review to add two letters because a "the" had been typed as "he" and "Blog" and been typed "bog."
Thanks to MR BK for posting it here and for all the nice comments.

Now I keep imagining DR LAURA starring in a church version of Highway Patrol.

Congrats to DR Jeanne on this step forward! Wow! At last! Finally! May the progress continue!

Yes! I forgot to mention that when I posted earlier.

From DR Laura:
Also ... people with guns. We had someone show up once with a gun looking for his ex-girlfriend.
Oh my, that is scary.
-
From DR George:
The theme song is different in every single episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood
Very interesting. Question though, can your niece watch or listen to this guy. I can't without getting a headache.

I am listening to the 2016 Studio Cast recording of William Finn's Elegies.
The entire thing is ruined by Jonathon Qualls, who can't match pitch for the life of him. It's almost like a parody. Can't believe this was actually released.
If you want to listen to this, the original 2003 recording released by BK is the only way to go.
-
I am listening to a CD (Gershwin/Copland/Schuller/Bloch on Mercury Living Presence) playing through the KLH Model 20 turntable/AM/FM machine I just dusted off. That was a very lucky community tag sale find years ago. The turntable is gunked up and will have to be dismantled and cleaned by someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure the electronics can use some attention, too, and I need to add an antenna for better reception on the AM and FM.
The CD player is a Denon first generation, or nearly so - seriously, like, from the 1980s, a really solid piece of equipment I'd found at yet another community tag sale. I used to use both of these enough to keep them in shape, but it's been a while and I wanted to see how they play. After a little futzing, they're playing quite beautifully.
The KLH speakers are fabulous. Separately, I think these were sold under different Model numbers (I'm thinking 17, for anyone who remembers KLH). They're wonderful. This was one of the college-era systems the likes of moi lusted after in the late 60s, early 70s, and I was thrilled to find it in beautifully preserved condition. Love this stuff.
-
I chose this CD because I'd been jonesing to hear Schuller's Seven Studies on Themes of Paul Klee. We played that in my first year at school. Well, not "we", I didn't play in it, but I followed the rehearsals and I still have the Leinsdorf/Boston LP, the only one around in those years (I think). This one's great, too, with Dorati conducting Minneapolis. Now I need to see if I have the score. I think I had it, but I can't visualize it so it's time to look.
-
Now it's playing BK's "Rare Tracks". It must be WAV files because this player surely wouldn't be able to deal with MP3s. Sounds great!
But now for my stupid question: I don't remember when this one was issued. Totally blank on that. I'm sure I have the info here, but I didn't write it on the CD. It was a companion to one of the books, wasn't it?
-
Yes, it may have been with the lyrics book, although I think it was long before that -

And speaking of pizza, I'm at the local Brewery City Pizza (https://www.brewerycitypizza.com/), waiting to pick up a Harvester (without bacon for my sister and niece) and a Spartacus for anyone else. We're all going to my mom's for the holiday. :)

I don't know. I know that she can turn down the volume (which I do, as necessary), but I don't know if she regularly watches a lot of YouTube.

The best part about being an adult is having your own ice cream - you can eat it straight out of the container and not have to dirty a bowl.
The worst part is everything else.

Have you seen the meme that tells us a great thing about being an adult is that you can have birthday cake any time you want - you can buy the birthday cake, and no one will even ask you if it's your birthday!

Just curious with her condition. I have trouble with videos presented like that guys does them. They seem to be more and more popular.

I’m Still Here is a true story.

Started another early Ingrid Bergman movie called Walpugis Night. It’s from 1935 and it deals with abortion and extra-marital affairs. Very adult for the time.
