Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both hi and lo and had some mein, and now it is time for you to post until the hi and lo cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: UPBEAT!
-
To continue from last night about my Goofy watch:
The last time I needed to have the battery changed, the watch repair guy couldn't get the back back on! :o He said something about the gasket being the culprit, but looking at it now, it looks fine to my untrained eye. I think I'll take it to Fred Meyer's jewelry department and see if they can get it back on now (and change the battery, if they can).

I just read the notes. That's great about the woman from the library who might be able to help get your books in their system. :)

Good morning, all!
-
Good morning.
-
It took me forever to get to sleep, but once I did, I slept very well until 4:00. After my bathroom break, Annabelle became restless and couldn't decide if she wanted to cuddle or annoy me.
-
Good morning, DR Laura!
-
I never did hear from Ann yesterday. I would like to resolve this tsuris about the post office. I need a friend like Laura.
-
Friday afternoon, as I was cleaning up the cats' dinner dishes, my FaceTime began ringing with an incoming visit. Birthday greeting, I thought. I'll deal with it later.
-
About an hour later, I checked to see who had tried to reach me; it was a 917 (NY City area code) number I did not recognize, so I dialed it, and a voice said "This is Laura . . ."
Laura Who? I wondered.
-
So, yesterday morning, I called the number again. "This is Laura . . ." but no one picked up. I left a message "This is Larry Moore; you tried to reach me one last night, and I don't know who you are."
-
So, last night at 7:30. Laura returned my call. This is where it gets weird. The caller was Laura Parker, whom I last saw in 1979, in Middletown, Ohio, when she was around 10 years old. Her parents were friends of DR Ginny's and mine. Her uncle was my NYC friend, operatic baritone William Parker, who died from AIDS around 1990. It was at Will's memorial; that I last saw Laura's father John. By that point, her parents had divorced, and her mother had remarried an old community theater friend of mine. They all - Laura, her family, her mother and stepfather -are now living in Santa Barbara, CA. She swore she did not try to call me, so we figure it was the cosmos telling us to reconnect.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great story, Elmore.
-
On the bad side, her stepfather David is going blind and her mother's mental facilities are going, and since both are dear friends, this news distresses me. I last saw David and Nancy back in 2017, when they drove from North Carolina to Middletown to attend a party that DR Ginny and Richazrd had during my visit to Middletown.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.

It's pasta; what's not to love?
I feel that way about Chow Fun, too!
-
Well, I don't think I made it even halfway through The Long, Long Trailer last night. I was lying there watching contentedly, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up and staring at something unrecognizable. I didn't even remember the sleepiness coming on me like it normally would, I must have simply conked out at some point. I guess I needed it.
-
And now I have only a couple of hours before I must be leaving for the Bedford Playhouse. It's a noon showing.
I was reading up on Beau Geste yesterday because as familiar a tale as it is, I have never seen any of the filmed versions of it, or read any of the original books. I do know what's going on in the story, so it will be a thrill to be watching the original in its reconstructed/restored state.
-
I'm enjoying the Goofy watch story, George! I hope you can get it fixed.

Sunday morning greetings! Fr. Richard is off to church in Dayton and I’m easing into the morning.

DR Elmore, so glad you and Laura connected yesterday! I knew about her stepfather’s issue and wondered about her mother’s. They all do live in California, but I think it’s up north. Laura went to college in Santa Barbara.

Wild connection, Larry. Did her phone show that she had indeed called you or was this something completely spooky?
-
I did see Mickey 17 and don’t know if I was more repulsed by the gross aliens or the ham-handed performances of the villains.
-
What a wonderful meeting MR BK.
And you can be mutually beneficial to each other.
-
Glad you have TUBI DR RODZINSKI.
You might also enjoy the Al Adamson documentary.
And yes your takeaway from the Clift doc was about the same as mine. I would think that some of tsuris of his final years was aggravated by his treatment by John Houston - which he would not take without a fight.

Th,e universe could indeed have been sending you a message.
Sometimes folks just want to be remembered. You might think of some event that may have taken place this month/week that is especially memorable.

Enjoy the movie DR CHAS SMITH.
I indeed made it all through TLLT, and I was interested in the German film noir that followed. But subtitles are not for me after midnight.

Happy Sunday! On this week's Broadway Radio Show, it's a delightful conversation with songwriter Michael Finke about his life-long love of musicals and his wonderful new album, a collection of his songs called Get What You Want: The Songs of Michael Finke. It's a fantastic recording featuring a terrific line-up of singers and, if you're unfamiliar with Michael's work, you'll be a fan after giving it a listen!

Hey, Elmore. Speaking of spooky, one day I was wandering the city, might’ve still been the ‘90s, and I forget if it was a library or a museum, it was near Moma, but there was a songwriter showcase in their theater space. So I went to check it out, and they said the guy they’d scheduled couldn’t be there, so this other guy stepped in. Slender blonde guy, played several of his songs on piano, including a lovely song about a day spent at a lake.
Couple years later, I know you now, there’s a gathering at Fred’s apartment, and you bring a guest with you, and it’s that guy I had wandered in and seen perform! Any memory of who that was?

Was it Andy Monroe?

If it is indeed Andy Monroe, that would be an eerie coincidence, since on Facebook just yesterday, Andy Monroe's musical "The Tragic And Horrible Life Of The Singing Nun" came up.

DR Sandra, I'm sorry you missed playing with your family yesterday. Correction, I see you did have some quality time with them :)

As far as I know, we'd never met Andy Monroe before the time he was here.
Maybe it was while Larry and Andy were working on the "Singing Nun" musical?
(I know I'd met Blair Fell, who was Andy Monroe's collaborator on the "Singing Nun" musical, a number of times.)
-
Spooky coincidence that he came up on your FB yesterday.
-
Spooky coincidence that he came up on your FB yesterday.
Not Andy himself, but his show: Former DR Tomovoz and I were mentioning when the last time Tom and I saw each other in person was, and it was in 2006, when we'd all seen "The Tragic and Horrible Life of the Singing Nun" at the Theater at St. Clements at NYMF.
For reason I don't recall, Tomovoz wasn't able to come to the HHW gathering here that weekend.
-
I'm sure the reason we all went to see "The Tragic and Horrible Life of the Singing Nun" at the same time was that Larry worked on the show.
-
Feh, I somehow no longer have old emails from 2006, so I can't see the give-and-take regarding that 2006 HHW gathering here.

I don't know if I still have them (having had boxes stolen out of my garage years ago), but when they first were released, I bought both the CD and the songbook. :)

There was also a movie that went by "Johnny Get Your Gun" in 1919.

That leads to the 1917 song "Over There"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over_There
The verse starts:
Johnny, get your gun, get your gun, get your gun.
Take it on the run, on the run, on the run.
Hear them calling you and me,
Every Son of Liberty.
Hurry right away, no delay, go today.
Make your daddy glad to have had such a lad.
Tell your sweetheart not to pine,
To be proud her boy's in line.

This is interesting Facebook information.
"Community chats are going away soon
You can go to the group on Facebook to stay connected with your community."
"Chats linked to Facebook Groups will be permanently deleted.
You can download your messages from this chat in the Accounts Center.
Keep using the group on Facebook to stay connected with your community."
-
What was a community chat?
-
Google's AI says:
" Community chat refers to online group conversations for members of a specific community, such as within a Facebook group or using a platform like Mighty Networks. These chats facilitate real-time discussion on various topics related to the community. While platforms like Facebook have recently phased out their dedicated "Community Chats" feature in favor of "Messenger Communities," the underlying concept of group communication remains. "

I'm kicking myself for not making an appointment with my primary at least a week ago.
-
The PA I saw at urgent care agreed with our suspicions of what this is and initially wanted me to go to the ER for a biopsy. More than once I mentioned that my vision has not changed, and much of the urgency of doing a biopsy is so that you begin treatment and don't go blind.
-
She did prescribe meds to see how I react to them, and cough meds in a capsule I have never tried. I will begin those tonight and the other meds after breakfast tomorrow.

I'm not sure I want the meds to work because then I might have to go on them forever.

Hopefully I can reach my primary in the morning and see what he wants me to do.

I think I've put up five CDs today and got a couple of orders, too.

Ann came by. All is good, and we had a lovely visit.
That's great, Larry!

Very cute! ;D

That leads to the 1917 song "Over There"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over_There
The verse starts:
Johnny, get your gun, get your gun, get your gun.
Take it on the run, on the run, on the run.
Hear them calling you and me,
Every Son of Liberty.
Hurry right away, no delay, go today.
Make your daddy glad to have had such a lad.
Tell your sweetheart not to pine,
To be proud her boy's in line.
The things you learn on HHW! :D

My fake chili.....a made a saucepan of spaghetti, added the leftovers of the Manwich hamburger, diced tomatoes, onions, and a can of chili beans.....then the rest of the container of Manwich.....and cooked it up.
It's okay.
That sounds pretty good. I'd probably make it without the spaghetti, though...but that's just me.
-
The reason this came up is - as posted by Stephen Cole's thread on Facebook - that today (September 21) is the anniversary of the ANNIE, GET YOUR GUN production in the 1960s the was jokingly called GRANNY, GET YOUR GUN.
:))
-
Many people don't know that the Jack in the Box restaurant franchise was almost called Thatch in the Box.
;D

Attending a friend's 60th birthday party this evening. It's at a restaurant.
Have a great time. Happy birthday to your friend!
Ditto, and Ditto!!

What can you tell me about this BK?
-
Spooky coincidence that he came up on your FB yesterday.
I was there too.
I remember there was a random pop-up musical in the audience before the show

So sorry the answers aren’t coming easily, Jane. Hope your doc provides a good path forward.
Thank you.
-
Sending health vibes of all sorts, Jane.
-
Thank you DR Freddie.

Bed and Sofa is weird. I liked the cast so I did it. Some loved it, most didn't.
-
Finally finished the monster movie - I guess I just didn't see its greatness. Will start another movie after snack one.
-
I just learned that Joan Miro, a favorite artist, illustrated Canticle of the Sun by St. Francis of Assissi. Amazon didn’t have it, but I can get a used copy for a mere $2,470.
And probably still a bargain at twice the price! :o
-
Wow! Page Eight! :D

From Bill Maher's monologue this weekend:
"Trump is mad at the New York Times. Today, he put a tariff on Wordle."
Good thing I'm not paying for a subscription. ;)
-
Hopefully I can reach my primary in the morning and see what he wants me to do.
Good luck, Jane! :-\

Was it very expensive, Vixmom?

I remember that I enjoyed it. I didn't love it, but I'm not sorry that I bought it.

So, I took my Goofy watch to Fred Meyer and the woman there had the same problem. She couldn't get the back back on. :P
-
She, however, thinks that it's the back itself and not the gasket (she removed that), so I'm going to try to find an actual watch repair shop and see what they say...if I can find one.
-
But after I came home, I was able to find this:
-
Haven't found the CD, yet. ::)

Trying to motivate to watch another movie.
-
Trying.
-
Still trying.
-
Had snack one, took pill two, knit three.
-
The knit wit.
-
That should be the title of my next novel. Has anyone written a great novel about knitting? Lots of knitters out there, you know.
-
Good evening.
-
Busy day.
-
We just got a small amount of rain. Unexpected.
-
I hope you get things figured out easily, Jane, and that you feel better soon.
-
We're in the midst of staging rehearsals for Samson et Dalila. Today we had the dancers with us so we staged their numbers. That includes the famous Bacchanal. Staging an orgy scene is fun but tiring, even if we're not dancing.
-
Health vibes to DR Jane.
-
Back from the birthday party. It turns out there were 15 invited.
-
The food at Chianti Grill was very good.
-
Just finished watching Ruby Red Handed - a documentary about the theft (and eventual recovery) of the ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz (one of 4 extant pairs).

I don't know about a novel, but there is this:

Sorry to hear of your medical complications, DR Jane.
-
Using this Tubi, I watched a music documentary, this about the Canadian band, the Bells, who had a huge early ‘70s hit with “Stay Awhile,” which was the film’s title. Interpersonal conflict between husband and wife, etc. Nothing special but ok.
-
Good night, friends.
-
LUCKY #250
-
And others.
-
Cheyenne Jackson just appeared on Matlock.
-
Found a weird pecan pie recipe that doesn’t call for corn syrup, but does call for 1 cup corn oil.
-
I’m sure it was a typo

You can always say you took part in an orgy. And you got to practice for it.
-
;D
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Finally a movie with pace to spare.
-
And fun.
-
Certainly no masterpiece, but fun.
-
I just watched a fun new movie on Tubi with that same description. A comic psychological mystery called, Me, Myself & The Void. Does a lot with a little.
-
Last few hours of summer. Fall around 2:30 tomorrow.
-
New notes are written and ready to post.
-
Yes, they are.
-
They are near, not far.
-
Sure as a star.
-
Wait, I've done these rhymes before.
-
Where'd George get to?
-
Not here.
-
Page ten, baby.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
