Yesterday was the fundraiser for which I made the caramel corn. It was selling well and there were only a few bags available when I left about an hour before the closing. I helped with ticket selling early, then Richard came in for lunch. We bought homemade vanilla and homemade peach jam and visited with a lot of our neighbors. I came home and took a nap.
:)
I don't think people say "Looky Here!" enough anymore.

If anyone is following the horrific news from Grand Blanc, Michigan, my sister lives there and can see the smoke from her house :'(

Just saw on Facebook that former dear reader Michael Druxman aka Druxy has passed away. He was controversial here because all he ever posted about were his plays and everything he seemed to be publishing on a daily basis. He wasn't asked to leave, but I believe he got the drift that many people were irritated by what he was doing. Still, my experiences with him were okay in terms of directing and/or acting in one of his projects.
Today's our anniversary, so we celebrate it in our traditional style, with an opera staging rehearsal. After that we come home, change, and head out to dinner.

DR George, Rupert is much older than my little Annabelle; his career ended long before she was born in late 2016. She does want to read his book.
Some cheerful dancing, and singing about dancing, for John G's birthday

I love this! And it's especially funny when just as the chorus line enters down the stairs, a couple of audience members are leaving and get in the way! :))

DR George, thanks for the congrats last night.
For the last major elections we have been driving to an official ballot box to drop of our ballots.

When I supported a controversial production of The Diary of Anne Frank that pointed out the similarities between the Gestapo and Jews and ICE and Latinos during Trump's first term, he posted that I was pissing on Jewish graves. I thought he was a horrible man.
I read a story about a DC firefighter who was mugged and shot as he was close to home. It was late, 911 was not only understaffed but busy. After holding 3 minutes he called his fire station and they rushed over to help him.

My mom's cat Henry can get in the way when we're playing Phase 10, but his presence never stops the game. ;)

There's a ballot drop box just two blocks from where I live. It's in front of the Tumwater library and just across the street from the Tumwater city hall, so it's quite safe.
George good luck finding all the supplies you need for the handyman next week.
Thanks. I did get most of it ordered, but we're going to see if we can rent an adjustable ladder.

I did something very radical. I ordered a chili cheese and onion hot dog and onion rings from the legendary hot dog jernt Pink's. If you actually go there, you'd be standing in line for an hour. For some reason, DoorDash now delivers from there. It's quite far away, but the hot dog was still hot when it arrived, which was amazing. Now, I have lived here all my life, and I'm not sure I've ever had a Pink's hot dog before. Maybe once at some point in my teens, but no real memory. The dog was great and so were the onion rings and just the right amount - five.

I met Druxy once, back in 2012 when BK and I were at the Burbank Marriott for a Home Theater Forum event and a Monsterpalooza-kind of thing was also going on there. I think Druxy had a booth for his books. It was just a brief hello type of thing and he was certainly nice enough, but I remember the postings very well indeed.
Thanks to that evening, BK was also able to introduce me to Bert I. Gordon. That was nice. He died in 2023, but seemed frail, even then.
Ack. Memories!

Yesterday was my own 11th anniversary (my wife’s too, coincidentally). And we spent the night in Vancouver and had a nice dinner (with the youngsters).

My anniversary was earlier this month, when we were at church camp. We packed up camp and drove home in separate vehicles. So romantic.

Aunt Sassy got three shots at the pharmacy today. We went to Costco and got a few things (including Halloween candy), and we got The Lorax from the library for me to read to the precious children at church next Sunday during Banned Books Week.

DR Laura - your quote makes me feel so sad.
CONGRATULATIONS, DR Laura, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!
I'll be seeing her when we travel back east in a few weeks.
THREE (3) (count ’em) SHOTS!!!?
I feel a bit faint already.
Hope you had a good day, DR John G.
The film editor for a lot of Corman's movies was Ronald Sinclair - who starred in a couple of movies at MGM as the new Freddie Bartholomew.....
I particularly remember Thoroughbreds Don't Cry. Mickey Rooney was behind him riding a horse and Rooney's motions made it seem that he was sodomizing Ronald....and then there was a scene in a bedroom where Rooney kept pulling Ronald's pants off on the bed.....very strange.....
