Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of gold in the Goulds, and now it is time for you to post until the golden cows come home.

And the word of the day is: INGENIOUS!

From yesterday:
Congrats to Keith's Wordle-in-4!
~~~FEEL BETTER VIBES FOR BK!!~~~
~~~FEEL BETTER AND TRAVEL VIBES FOR SINGDAW!!~~~
Congrats to John for his new momentous millstone!!
Wonderful pictures of MichaelG's orgy opera!
-
Congratulations, John G, on a most successful signing yesterday!
-
Also congratulations to John G on your brand new posting Millstone!
-
All kinds of feel-better and safe-travel vibes to singdaw!
-
MichaelG, thank you for sharing those terrific photos from the opera in last night's posts.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was very chilly last night, and I need to winterize the bed. I had all three cats with me and my feet were freezing. I had several dreams but I only remember a bit of one. In it I appeared to be babysitting several teen-aged boys, and the dinner I had prepared from frozen food in the fridge was a disaster.
-
Nice photos, DR MichaelG. What is that strange costume Samson is wearing?
-
DR singdaw, be careful. Supposedly, Hans Christian Andersen died from a broken neck after falling out of bed.
-
DR John G, Carrie Pipperidge doesn't sing "If I Loved You"; Julie Jordan does.
-
DR John G, Carrie Pipperidge doesn't sing "If I Loved You"; Julie Jordan does.
I realized that later and never went back to fix it. As BK said, it might be AI generated anyway.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think my only plans for the holiday are to go to the movies.
-
Strange dreams of getting some massive 50-DVD Criterion box set of a nonsensical TV show from Japan that was actually a hoax. Diane Keaton supposedly starred and directed in some, though it wasn’t marked which discs were hers. It had you use a QR code that didn’t actually work, but had you calling random numbers in Japan for some reason. It rank up your phone bill astronomically and pissed off the unsuspecting folks on the other end if the line. I was upset because it took me five times to realize I had been duped.
-
I have no plans today; I am pretty much stuck here waiting for a Fed Ex pickup. I thought those 25 books were going to Florida, but I was mistaken. They're going to West Barnstable, MA.
-
Congrats to DR JOHN G on his millstone and on his signng/selling.
-
Nice photos from DR MICHAEL G.
-
In a bit, I am going to pick up a prescription.

Travel and healing vibes for DR singdaw.

Feeling better vibes for MR BK.

For Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day, my main plan is to post the link to my Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day parody video as many places as seems appropriate.
-
Good morning, all.
-
What a dreary day!!! It's still raining, still blowing now and then, and even though it's a "tropical" storm, it's chilly in the low 50s.
I'm glad I had no plans to do anything at all. I certainly do not want to go out for anything. I don't even want to step outside my door.
-
I watched both Notorious and The Man Who Knew Too Much last night, then went to bed and started watching the very weird silent movie Häxan (1922) - which I have owned and watched little bits of over the years, but have yet to ever get through the whole thing. I certainly didn't see it all last night, either, as I fell asleep no more than halfway through it.
-
Great photos, DR MichaelG. Looks like one heckuva production. Beautiful stuff.

I have never seen Haxan either. Must correct.
-
My watching was exactly the same as that of DR CHAS SMITH....I, too, have never made it through that witch movie. But I got further than I ever have before. I think I got to Part Five.
I love The Man Who Knew Too Much. When I was about 8 years old or so, I was with my sisters and a cousin at a park. While they played, I was reading a book. A boy a bit older than I was stopped and sat down beside me. We started talking and he began to tell me about this movie.....
He was very excited about it. And of course a few years later I realized he was talking about TMWKTM. He finally said: "Just tell you parents to take you to see it!"
As if it were than easy!
-
Finished a Taylor Jenkins Reid novel called After I Do. Sloppy, cliched and sappy, I couldn’t stop until it was all wrapped up in trite ribbon of mush. I feel I should shower. Or start another.
-
His name was Dan.
I know because he took off his gold (plated) ID bracelet. When he ran off - home I guess, he forgot his bracelet.
He didn't come back, so I took the bracelet and wore it now and then. So I had an alter ego: Dan.

Yeah, it was never easy, was it? And their stubbornness always produced the opposite effect.
-
Nice to meet you, Dan.
-
From DR Singdaw:
Watched The Girl in Cabin 10 tonight on Netflix. The second half of the film is markedly different from the book.
Was it better?
-
DR Singdaw I hope you recover quickly from your fall last night.

SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES FOR DR SINGDAW!

DR John, congratulations on selling more books.

John, congrats on your 104000 post!

It is an interesting memory.
I recall seeing the movie when it came out. I'm sure I saw it with my sister. I just can't remember if my parents took us or not.

Hmm, maybe my childhood were unusual in that respect. Especially when it came to theater. They'd hear me listening over and over to a Carol Channing cast album, and then I'd find us the next weekend going to see a new play Carol Channing was starring in.
The one that didn't make sense (at the time) was that they thought I was way too young to understand the mature subject matter of "A Little Night Music," so we ended up seeing "Over Here!"
-
Nice memories DR Freddie.

I went to pick up my prescription and then I went to the FLUX Computer place where I always take my computer to get worked on.
In 2022 I bought a nice used laptop there. The guy had a book that listed refurbished computers so I thought they might have a nice All In One Desktop with Windows 11.
When I rang the bell I was hoping the good guy would come out. But it was the other guy. He told me they didn't have any computers. I said that I got a laptop from a book once - and he said "We don't do that anymore."
So I left and started to get into the SmartCar. It wasn't locked and the window on the driver's side was down. I looked and there was a plastic bin on the passenger seat. I looked at the license plate - and it wasn't mine. Mine was parked one row over....looking exactly the same...weird.

On the Mt Rushmore of Mortons in the easy listening/classical/instrumental world of my vinyl hunting, Morton Gould is carved alongside Mort Garson and Morton Subotnick, the latter two did a lot of electronic stuff, but not all.

Very strange! I've recently been seeing other copies of my car, and I've parked close to some, but there's always something different about theirs (mine is very plain, no add-ons), so I notice the differences easily.

Getting ready for the movie.
Did you tell us what you are seeing? Did I miss it?

Nice photos, DR MichaelG. What is that strange costume Samson is wearing?
It's just a one-piece robe / cloak, similar to part of most of our Hebrew costumes. I didn't post those because the Philistine costumes and sets are much more fun. But here's Samson in his full Act I costume. He's stripped of all the outer pieces in Act III.

My receiver of the 25 books did not bother to tell me the Fed Ex was Express, not Ground which I always use, so the Fed Ex man arrived around 2:00, saw the shipment was Express, and told me I had to schedule another pickup. I did that around 2:30, and the Fed Ex Express man arrived at 3:00!
The cartons are out of my hair. Fantastic!

I went to Kiss of the Spider Woman, and I enjoyed it. But it’s not great, thanks the writer and director, Bill Condon, who makes musicals and hates them at the same time.

Had a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog from Pink's - very good - onion rings were great last time, lousy this time.

This is the heavy pill day. All have been taken save for the one I take three times a day. I'll take the second one at six and the third at eleven.

The score was the best thing about the movie. And the performances were excellent. Graciela Daniele has a good cameo. Among the orchestrators were Doug Besterman and Michael Starobin.

I'm trying the hearing aids again that I was wearing when this condition began. I initially thought the severe pain was from the hearing aids. If only that had been the reason. Fingers crossed the pain doesn't return. I need to know if I can tolerate them or not as I do hear better with them.

A new AI abomination I have been noticing in my feed are "BANNED SONGS" from the 40's or 50's.....that are obviously newly created "songs" sung by robotics.
Very irritating.

Good afternoon.

We were caught in a fast-moving severe thunderstorm while driving this afternoon. From sprinkling to pounding rain happened in less than 30 seconds. I was able to pull off the busy road to a residential street, where we waited out the storm. Over a half inch in about 10 minutes.

It’s one of the best Stephen King works in recent years. And maybe his most life-affirming.

If the movie gets the book, then I can imagine it being his recent best.

Stanwyck sings! Watching a weird 1936 flick called Banjo on My Knee. Stanwyck croons, Joel McCrea plays harmonica, Buddy Ebsen shuffles and Walter Brennan is, well, Walter Brennan.

Broadway musicians have voted to strike. Oy.

I haven’t decided what Diane Keaton movie to watch next.
-
Not sure I’m up to something as brutal as Shoot the Moon.
-
Maybe Something’s Got to Give.
-
I always liked that one.

Just watched a film I’ve been seeking for years. “Didn’t You Hear,” from 1970, which features a fully electronic score by Mort Garson. It’s easier to find the soundtrack than to see the movie, which had a vhs release in the early ‘80s. This was a student film with some elements of amateur incompetence akin to Manos: The Hands of Fate. Yet it is also strangely beautiful, shot in the islands off the Washington coast, young people trying to make deep art. Early roles for Gary Busey and Dennis Christopher. It played in theaters only in the Seattle area.
-
The library doesn’t have Love and Death.
-
Neither do I.

Diane Keaton: “It’s greater than keen. It’s Cugat!” –Sleeper

I quoted that line for years.

I think we can get off this page.

John G! I’m good. Kinda chilly here tonight.
What means this word chilly?

“Didn’t You Hear” yeah, I’m glad I saw it. It has a lot of heart and it attempts to do some big things on a micro budget.
-
I now have started a TV drama called The Missiles of October. I had started watching it when it first aired, but I never saw the finale because it was past my bedtime.

Chilly in Texas would be like 72?

William Devane is a great JFK. Martin Sheen is a good Bobby.

I'm too tired.

Good night, all..

Don't know if the novella it's based on is considered a good one. I'll go look it up.

I've already shaved and I'll shower in a bit, as she of the Evil Eye comes early.
