All that sleep and here I am, wide awake. But I'll try and get to bed by two.
-
Yesterday's J&H matinee went quite well. We were almost sold out, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance! The president of the Olympia chapter of PFLAG and her husband were there! We chatted about the show during the No Kings rally. She said that was interested in seeing it and she actually came down and saw it!
-
Later last evening, the cast and crew of TAO's The HEAD!!! That Wouldn't DIE! got together at a local bar/karaoke joint to have a fun evening, get the HEAD t-shirts, and to celebrate pug's birthday. There was a lot of karaoke singing. I even sang Barry Manilow's "Copacabana"! Then I came home and zonked out. ::)

I slept so well I did not want to get out of bed this morning. I had several dreams, none of which I remember much. In one, I was in college working on a production of Candide. My best college friend, who died several years ago, was in the dream. I remember another dream where I was at the Clonial Theatre in Middletown, Ohio, purchasing a groyp of tickets for friends and I to see a hooror movie. When I left the theatre, I was at 44th Street and Eighth Ave. in Manhattan, chasinjg down a 104 bus.

DR John G, have a good day with the voters.

44th and 8th? Walk on over to my place on 44th and 9th and let’s have a time of it. Speaking of time, we’ll just need a Time Machine to take us back to 2015 or earlier, but in dreams all things are possible.

BK- I agree with what you said about OTHER WORLD.
It still doesn't make sense. These https://otherworldmusical.com/
are very gifted musicians and writers. Why did they decide to do a musical with a basic storyline that, even in the description Jen Tepper herself gave in the article, sounds so much like THE LAST STARFIGHTER?
" the show follows a gamer and non-gamer who are sucked inside the world of a video game"
Except that in OTHER WORLD it's two people, a gamer and his sister, the very description in the "one-line pitch"-style description conjures up LAST STARFIGHTER for anyone who saw the movie or the musical.
-
Rodzinski mentioned TRON last night. Or maybe TRON, too, whose remake just opened.
-
It almost sounds like they really really wanted to do LAST STARFIGHTER, couldn't get the screenplay rights which had already merged in 2004 into our musical, so twisted it just enough not to be copyright infringement.
-
Hunter Bell, one of the Title of Show guys? I couldn’t find a coherent plot description. But people seem to like the lights and puppets.
-
Hunter Bell, one of the Title of Show guys? I couldn’t find a coherent plot description. But people seem to like the lights and puppets.
From Jen Tepper's BroadwayWorld article: ""An inventive original musical that has received two pre-New York productions, Other World explores the phenomenon of multiple role player video games. With book by Hunter Bell, and music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and Ann McNamee, the show follows a gamer and non-gamer who are sucked inside the world of a video game... "
Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen are the co-writers of TITLE OF SHOW. Ann McNamee is a richly gifted musician, and also (not so incidentally) is one-half of the billionaire couple Roger and Ann McNamee.
-
From their wiki page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Other_World_(musical) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Other_World_(musical))
There's real bucks going on.
"Usually producing effects for theatre and film, New Zealand-based five time Academy Award winner, Wētā Workshop, made its American theatrical debut with Other World with the Workshop's Rebekah Tisch serving as the art director. Tisch and her team developed Other World to be a complete, albeit fictional game. Rather than coding it, they created a virtual world for live stage. The creation of the game was an integral part of the development of Other World from the beginning, with project collaborator Ann McNamee approaching the Workshop nearly 10 years ago for creative ideas. According to Workshop designer Tisch who was involved with the project from the start, "It's possibly a first of its kind, a game that's not actually a game.”"

Hello DR GINNY!
-
I had my furnace on this morning for the first time this season.
-
I start running the furnace for, say, half an hour in the morning and maybe again at night, sometime around mid-September. That's to take the chill off, and we don't leave it running beyond that. Lately, it's been running more steadily at a fairly low setting because of our temperatures.
But this is stubborn New England. (The people here are like Iowans.) I know quite a few who refuse to consider turning the heat on until November. They insist everything before is "sweater weather". Hey, would I like to be that way? If I could, yes, but we can't get away with that in this house.
And some of those Stubborners, when they do run the heat, don't allow it to get over (I forget, but some ungodly low setting). It's crazy.

Darn if today it hasn't left me. I hope it returns before I head out this afternoon for my CT.

Freddie, to answer your castrecl question: Into the Woods in previews had a different second act from the show presented on opening night. I think I heard there were three versions. The version I saw was touching and sentimental, with a reunion of the father/narrator, his son (the baker) and the newborn. The version on opening night, of course, has the narrator offered up to the witch.

I think I liked the first version better.

Well.....probably not - but she was very good....I ran the lights so I saw many rehearsals and all the performances.
It was the first play there that we used music during scenes of a play - the publishing company sent along an LP with music.
Jim said can you run the lights and play this music? I said OF COURSE.
I transferred it to a cassette player that made the cues easier find and play.....and it was lovely....I'm trying to think of the composer of the music....
oh Paul Bowles. Henry Mancini used it in the 1987 movie version as well.

Yup, a big ouch. At least it is done now.

There was so much stress getting this test booked that I have been nervous something would jinx it.
-
I went extra early to my appointment, didn't have any traffic and immediately found a convenient parking spot.
-
They checked me in early, and then even called me back a few minutes early.
-
The guy doing the test was very nice and explained everything to me (they don't always do that).
-
I was arranged as comfortably as possible on the machine.
-
All was going well, and then he attempted to put the IV in. It was a bust. :o
-
Then he attempted a second IV. He thought he could get it to work correctly and kept fiddling with it. He did keep asking if it hurt. Finally I said YES, and he pulled it. :o :o
-
He put a warm pack on my veins to relieve the pain a bit, and then went and called someone with more experience to come do the third IV.
-
While I waited about 10-15 minutes for the other guy to arrive I stayed calm, even while concerned they wouldn't be able to do the test if they could not get an IV in me to add the contrast.
-
Second guy did a great job using my other arm, didn't hurt me at all. He then did the CT.
-
I did not want to interupt myself with a FIVE post ;D
-
Vibes for Jane.
-
I survived day 1. We had 453 voters. We were expecting no more than 250, so that was good.
-
The new equipment and new procedures worked well. They cut the checkin time way down, so voters should be happy.
-
I’m now at a fairly good Mexican joint having a torta (a type of sandwich) with a chicken milanesa pattry, avocado, lettuce, tomato and jalapeno.

Thank you.

I'm glad you survived, and that you had a good turnout.
-
I'm drinking lots of water to flush the contrast out of my kidneys. They just said to drink lots of water, not how much to drink. I looked online and read 8-10 glasses in the 24 hours following the test. Oh my. I've maybe had three glasses.

Got some melon chunks from Gelson's and some grapes and some apples, all with an Instacart credit.
-
I might just have turkey sandwiches all week - I used to do that at Jerry's Deli.
-
I'll try to watch a movie but who knows.
-
He put a warm pack on my veins to relieve the pain a bit, and then went and called someone with more experience to come do the third IV.
I'm so sorry you went through that pain during the tests, Jane.
-
I did not want to interupt myself with a FIVE post ;D
:)
-
I survived day 1. We had 453 voters. We were expecting no more than 250, so that was good.
So nice to hear about the good voter turnout.

Thank you. It wasn't horrible and it feels better now. The one that hurt is in the crease of my elbow and it was difficult to bend my arm for a few hours. Now I'm really noticing it much. I was more worried about not being able to get the test.
-
I'm feeling rather water logged ;D
-
Good night, all.
-
I started to watch Killers of the Flower Moon - three hours and thirty minutes - I made it to thirty.
-
Dozed off for a bit.
-
Made a couple of tacos for snack.
-
So, just a sandwich and the two tacos and some melon chunks.
-
Still one pill to go - I'll do that with a few more melon chunks or some grapes or an apple.
-
Just not in the mood for a movie.
-
One expectorates, oh, yes, one expectorates. And sings this catchy tune:
I'm gonna get that gunk right out of my throat,
I'm gonna get that gunk right out of my throat,
I'm gonna get that gunk right out of my throat,
And send it on its way!
:P
-
;D

~~~No-More-Gunk Vibes for BK!!~~~
Thanks DR FREDDIE.
Well.....probably not - but she was very good....I ran the lights so I saw many rehearsals and all the performances.
It was the first play there that we used music during scenes of a play - the publishing company sent along an LP with music.
Jim said can you run the lights and play this music? I said OF COURSE.
I transferred it to a cassette player that made the cues easier find and play.....and it was lovely....I'm trying to think of the composer of the music....
oh Paul Bowles. Henry Mancini used it in the 1987 movie version as well.
Very nice, Jrand.
Well, it's been a HELL of a day. And it's a Monday, so it was one HELL of a MONDAY.
"Well pump replaced" -- three words that can strike fear into the hearts of homeowners everywhere.
Don't ask. Don't. Even. Ask. ($,$$$)
:o
-
Again with the page six.
-
Most unseemly.
-
That's too bad, ChasSmith...but better now than in the middle of an emergency. :-\
-
Ridic.
-
Not very sporting.
-
The guy doing the test was very nice and explained everything to me (they don't always do that).
Very nice, Jane.
-
Second guy did a great job using my other arm, didn't hurt me at all. He then did the CT.
WHEW!! My friend Margo has "small veins" and always asks for someone with a LOT of jabbing experience.
-
The new equipment and new procedures worked well. They cut the checkin time way down, so voters should be happy.
That's great, John!
-
I'm drinking lots of water to flush the contrast out of my kidneys. They just said to drink lots of water, not how much to drink. I looked online and read 8-10 glasses in the 24 hours following the test. Oh my. I've maybe had three glasses.
Yikes! :o
-
Does it have to be plain water, or can you add flavor enhancers?
-
Those help me drink more water than when it's just plain.
-
Wordle: 6/6. Didn't think I'd get it today!
Qhew! Ditto and Ditto!
-
Keith got Wordle in four.
Good for Keith!
-
Now eating the second half of my turkey sandwich.
What a coinkydink (sort of)! Today, I had the second half of a Subway sandwich that I got yesterday. :)
-
And now that we're so close...
-
SEVEN'S RUPERT DANCE PAGE!!
:D
Got some melon chunks from Gelson's and some grapes and some apples, all with an Instacart credit.
I got some organic grapes a few days ago, and they were huge! I could only fit one at a time in my mouth!
-
They weren't necessarily as flavorful as I would've liked, but they were tasty enough, and the fact that they were so big and refrigerated made them still pretty darned good.
-
I finished off today what I had, so I'll more than likely get some more tomorrow when I pick up my meds from Fred Meyer's pharmacy.
-
Sporting it ain't.
-
Oh well.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
