Well, you've read the notes, the notes had solid kishka, and now it is time for you to post until the solid cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ROBUST!

Today, we have our first J&H performance of the second weekend (of three), AND it's a Pay-What-You-Can actors' benefit performance, so we'll get to split all the money at the end of the run!
-
Good morning, all!

Yesterday's laundry followed by the hour it took to make the bed and tote the old bedding to the clothes hamper really did me in. Too much kneeling, crawling around the floor, lifting and wrestling the mattress to put on the bottom fitted sheet, pushing the ed about, all of this have given mke a worn out, broken body. I can barely mve this morning. I hope I can spend the day doing very very little.
-
DR Rodzinski, I hope things with Mrs R's employment are okay.
-
The first movie I remember was Disney's Cnderella at Middletown's Paramount Theater in 1950. I remember seeing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in its 1952 re-release and Alice in Wonderland in 1951.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
My first recollection of seeing a movie was Snow White at a Los Angeles drive-in. Must have been the 1967 re-release (30th anniversary).
I spent all of the Wicked Queen's screentime hiding in the back seat.
-
Notes decimated. Thrashed.

Thank you all for the vibes. News was not good. Her whole section of the biz is being shuttered. We have luckily a few months to find some new paths. Living in this particular locale was a great idea at the time, but it has isolated us both from career opportunities. Stay tuned.
-
I shoulda been smart and robbed the Louvre.
-
TOD: The first movie I remember the experience of seeing was MARY POPPINS. But that opened in fall 1964, when I was already 4 years old - and I can't imagine I wasn't brought to a movie before then.
-

:( We're so sorry about your news.

Good morning, all.
-
That's awful, DR Rodzinski. I'm sorry.

DR John G., have you ever had peanut pie?

It's supposed to taste like peanut brittle, I think.
-
DR Rodzinksi, what lousy news. Hate that. I hope you find new directions soon.
-
A propos of nothing, I hate the modern phrase, "Do me a solid."
-
A drive-in Disney might’ve been my first movie too. A Bambi rerelease in 1975. But it may also have been a 1975 rerelease of What’s Up Doc?
-
Feels like there must’ve been something sooner, maybe Herbie Rides Again in ‘74.
-
I, too, name Snow White as being my first, even though I'd only have been three in 1952. Which doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? Did people take their three-year-old to a movie at a nice downtown theeder in Columbus in 1952? For a Disney movie? Maybe?
The next Snow White re-release I see on IMDb, if correct, is 1958, and that doesn't ring true, either, because my movie memories from the 1958-1960 period in Columbus are not nearly so vague.
It's just that I've always carried this image of being with my mother in a dark theater and getting scared at the appropriate places, and I can't shake it. But there's literally no way to prove this one. If that wasn't my first, then MAYBE Oklahoma! in 1955, which seems a little late. Oh well.
-
Bambi! Okay, wait a minute, let me check those releases.
-
Hmm. That's not till 1957. Oh well, like I said before: oh well. La di da.
-

This is not well known, but the theme song for SOLID GOLD was originally written as "Solid Kishka," but "Solid Gold" scanned better.

Thursday morning greetings! There was frost on our neighbors’ rooftops this morning (and presumably on ours, too).
-
DR Rodzinski, I’m so sorry to hear the news about your wife’s employment.
-
TOD - my first movie theatre memory is “Carousel” when I was 5. My mother drove my 15-year-old sister and her friends, so I got to tag along. The actual movie experience is vague, but I have vivid memories of driving home in a carful of weeping teenage girls.
-
I don’t think 3 is too young to have been at a movie and have memories of it. That’s quite possible.
-
My most vivid early movie memory was my “aunt” Roberta had my sister Anne and me for a weekend and took us to a decrepit theater in Hammond, Indiana to see For the Love of Benji. At one point a criminal kicked Benji’s dog girlfriend and I was so upset. Not even sure we could stay to see the rest.

Who here uses ClipGrab? I think BK mentions it sometimes.
I've downloaded any number of videos from YouTube using ClipGrab, and I went there just now to grab a couple of things. But suddenly today, "No downloadable video could be found" regardless of what I choose. I tried a few miscellaneous things that would never be a problem, and...same thing. I wonder if new blocking controls on YouTube itself have just been implemented.
AND - I'm getting ads there which I normally don't get when using this particular browser (Chrome). Gotta wonder what's up.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vibes for the Rodz family.
-
I don’t remember Mary Poppins or Sound of Music in the theater, though I remember parts of those movies. I remember a bit of a drive-in screening of Gidget Goes Hawaiian but falling asleep before The Ten Commandments, which was the second feature. I also remember a bit of seeing the original True Grit in the theater.
-
My Facebook memories tell me I went to a movie theater 12 years ago to see a screening of Merrily We Roll Along. I guess that was Maria Friedman’s London version of the show.
-
DR CHAS SMITH I just tried Clip Grab and it works fine. I use the FireFox browser....maybe you can try downloading the program again. They've had several updates this year.
-
Bad news DR RODZINSKI.....but I am sure things will work out.
-
Freeze Warning here. Maybe we have mowed our last lawn for the season.
-
Our parents took my older brother and I to the Ritz Theatre in Mooresville to see Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein when I was about three.
It had to be a re-release in 1953.
We both laughed all through the movie. There may have been a Disney cartoon and a Little Rascals short.
-
I haven't used Firefox in a long time. Last several years it's been Safari and Chrome, each for certain sites. Might be time to give it a try.
-
Oh - BTW, DR Jrand75 --
I stayed awake for about half of Looking For Love, I was enjoying it, and that's the last thing I remember. But as soon as it started, I at least had the presence of mind to start the DVR recording it. I hope I got it, will check later. But definitely a movie to see. And what an iconic main title sequence!
-
If ClipGrab is not working, the most common solutions are to update the application, check your internet connection, and ensure your system's permissions are correctly configured. If these steps fail, you may need to reinstall the program.
So sayeth the internet.

Freddie thanks for reminding me Solid Gold had a theme.

Freddie thanks for reminding me Solid Gold had a theme.
Naturally, when that now-convicted New Jersey Senator was found with all those gold bars in his house, I did a lyric to the tune of "Solid Gold." (Never recorded it. It seemed too nasty.)
-
The first edit in the Looking for Love opening credits sequence happens at 1:53. Take that, Orson Welles!

LOOKING FOR LOVE credits choreography to Robert Sidney. George Sidney directed the movie BYE BYE BIRDIE the year before.
Guess the LOOKING FOR LOVE title sequence was a tribute to Ann-Margret in the BIRDIE title song.
-
Sorry to hear the news, DR Rodzinski. Best of luck in your paths forward.
-
Forgot to say: I did have the latest update of ClipGrab, but I trashed it and downloaded again to see what would happen. Also restarted the Mac. No change yet.
It's not like I need anything today, anyway, so I'll try again tomorrow. I know sometimes just waiting till later can make a difference in such things.
-
TOD: The first movie in a theater I can remember for sure is Mary Poppins, but there might well have been something earlier.
-
It looks like both Equity and AFM now have tentative agreements with the Broadway League. Hopefully they're ratified and my trip to NYC next month won't be mostly wiped out by strikes.

Tune of Theme from "Solid Gold"
They found lots of cash there,
A sizable stash there.
But there's stranger truth to be told.
Along with the money,
What struck them as funny
Is one hundred grand of pure gold!
Solid gold,
And there's no way to explain it.
Solid gold,
How do people get this bold?
You can touch them and feel them,
But there's no way to conceal them.
If you are getting paid, don't take it in gold!
Solid gold!

I can understand how upsetting that was. It still would be today.

I’m off to a scheduled checkup with my radiation oncologist.
Bye for now!

Vibes for DR GINNY.

Could be DR FREDDIE....Connie is really rocking out to that tune in a costume by Don Loper!
I hope you got it DR CHAS SMITH - the Danny Thomas sequence is also a lot of fun.

I just tried to download a Sean McDermott song I orchestrated. No problems.

I'm glad to hear that. There's something wonky with my setup, then. And just today.

Maybe the computer of DR CHAS SMITH is haunted.
-
Well, it IS getting close to Halloween.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a bit over eight hours of good sleep. Really had a runny nose last night and the shortness of breath - I took Ny-Quil for the second night. So far, today there's no runny nose and the shortness of breath, while still hovering, isn't as bad and hasn't led to coughing yet. Digits crossed that continues.
-
So sorry to hear about the missus, Rodzinski. Hoping something better is in the ether.
-
Clip Grab working fine via Safari here. They do occasionally update but that's an instant alert while it's happening.

Thank you, all, for the good doctor vibes! They worked and I don’t have to go back for a year.
