Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave up the ghost or the ghost gave up the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the ghosted cows come home.

TOD:  If fast food counts, I'd say hamburgers of some sort, in part because they're so easy to handle as a quick lunch when in an office working environment.

If we're talking deli, then roast beef on rye, often with a slice of cheese.

On the question of whether the Broadway revival CHESS is a concert, this person who saw it

at 14:10 here for three minutes or so

says it's not a concert, but compares it to an Encores presentation

I'm not sure if I had a Halloween moment last night, but we reasidents of Apt. 3C had an unsettling evening. I went to bed at 9:00 and set the alarm for 5:45. Annabelle and Thatch settled in with me and I dozed off. Around 10:00, I was awakenedby a high pitched ringing over and over and over . . . .

When I could make sense of it, I thought one of the cats was sitting on the computer keyboard, and that was what I was hearing. The ringing stopped, and I settled down. A momemnt later,l the ringing began again and rang and rang and rang and rang . . .

I realized it was my doorbell. It sounded as if someomne pressed the button and held it down as the bell rang and ranf. I turned on the light and looed at the clock: 10:02. Who in the hell was ringing my bell? Maybe it was Ann or Jen with something for me? Was Judy making another ical and unwanted food delivery? Was there a hit man waiting outside the door? A monster? Death?

The cats meanwhile were acting skittish and clustering around the door, so I got up and went to the door. There was no one there and no sign anyone had been there: no note, nothing hanging on the doorknob, so I locked the door and went back to bed. I was so spooked by the situation that I kept the lights on ad read for a while before I finally went back to bed.

I haven't bought or read any "late" Stephen King at all. Maybe there's something new and interesting there.

Oddly, I have the hardcover edition of his 11/22/63 which I must have picked up not long after it was published. I know I didn't buy it new, perhaps it had been donated to a library sale, but it's the first printing. Anyhoo, I have absolutely no idea what direction he takes on the event but I figured I'd be interested in at least giving it a try. Maybe I'll get around to that someday...

DR Freddie, I think you asked me this question before. My publisher has no money for promotion or publicity. The reason I spent two years trying to get a literary agent was because I wanted to get the book seen by major publishers with money. After two years and over 140 rejections, some kind and positive or constructive, but most of them a form letter "thank you for your submission but . . ." I went woth Robert Armin because he had published Paul Ford's memoir - and condensed a sprawling 1000 page ramble into a more manageable 250+ pages - and he was willing to take it on. I was also hoping an agent might lead to other writing work, but after my experience, I think most literary agents are unimaginative frauds. A lot of the agencies use the same submission form, and what was the book: humor? serious fiction? sci fi-fantasy? biography? young adult? I honestly think that today no agent would take Mark Twain, Thorne Smith, Patrick Dennis, Jean Kerr, James Thurber, oe EB White as a client.

There are maybe twenty-thirty of them I would say are good. My favorite agent rejection said "I don't know how to sell this book to a publisher but please send me the next thing you write."

Tonight I've been "comped" by the second keyboardist with a seat at the musical Almost Famous here at A.C.T. in Ridgefield. I'll have to familiarize myself with it so as to better appreciate it, but I have a long way to go on that because I never even saw the movie it's based on, and I know nothing about its goings on. At all. It's at least professional theeder, and their Waitress several months ago was tops, so it'll be good to be there.

I hadn't realized that getting what I'd mentioned yesterday would require the publisher spending any money, just maybe connections.

Yet another crisp gorgeous fall day here. I have to start moving my ASS on some outdoorsy work soon. But not yet. Not today.

Yesterday I started on a scanning project for myself, and for DR Elmore because it turns out he doesn't have this score. The workflow on this one is great because of how I'd photocopied it so carefully years ago. So it's going very smoothly, it's looking as good as these things ever look, and I'm excited to get it done. I'm extremely picky about maintaining whatever quality I can when doing this myself, and even then, I'm only looking at a couple of hours work.

When I started reading plays submitted into a New Play competition, I was optimistic.

By the time the deadline had been reached, I was convinced that typewriters should be registered like guns and everyone should have to pass a test before they were permitted to "write" a play.

For me, sandwiches of all types are one of the greatest things ever. And I've eaten so many kinds of them throughout my life that I couldn't begin to forumulate an answer. That doesn't even take burgers of all kinds into account.

Seriously, I believe the hand-held food groups - sandwiches, burritos, wraps, hot dogs, burgers, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera - represent one of mankind's highest achievements.

Actually, they're doing fine so far. It took a while to get the old bolts off the tank, but Eddie has done this before. The frustrating part for them is having to make repeated trips to Home Depot for tools or parts they don't know they need until they get to them. Even though the stuff for the job comes in one kit, you still need:  more stuff.

Oh no June Lockhart.....all my life I have admired her....and even more so now that I know all of the parts she played....including in MEET ME IN ST LOUIS and ALL THIS AND HEAVEN TOO and of course LASSIE and LOST IN SPACE.

I remember a scene in LASSIE in which she was driving the Dodge pickup truck down a big hill and when she jumped out (in the same shot) she was still in focus and concerned about Timmy.

I look forward to Jon Provost's and Billy Mumy's comments.

I was only the other day watching a Billy Mumy interview clip where he talked about his castmates. Of Lockhart he said the last time he saw her (at the time of the interview) she was able to lift her foot all the way over her head still. And that she was big into heavy rock music. Just a hip chick, always.

It was a lousy winery with weird beer and an array of meads, which is honey wine. It was hard to taste them, even with spitting out everything.

Oh my, I guess going to a better winery after would have gotten rid of the bad taste.

The Dairy Queen in Blanco got rid of the bad taste by having cherry-dipped cones. I hadn’t had one in ages. They haven’t been sold in Texas in who knows how long. It was still magical.

So many sandwiches eaten in a lifetime, especially growing up where I had a sandwich for lunch almost every day.  While chunky peanut butter and preserves were enjoyed back then, I didn't really eaten as often as I did as an adult.  They are just so easy to carry with me.  I did it all the time when hiking.

I guess I will say I have eaten more peanut butter and preserve sandwiches than any other, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Okay, movie time. I had to set the record straight for some guy on the home theater forum who kept posting BS about Eleanor Parker and The Sound of Music. I called him on it and said link me to the proof and evidence. He didn't but said it was on YouTube if I searched her name and the movie title. I did. And I instantly found the video that he took as fact. An AI bot channel with one of those tired overused AI narrator voices, with lie after lie after lie, all provable lies, BTW. And people believe that crap. And whatever human actually is behind the channel is making money duping everyone. I just wrote a scathing post exposing most of the lies, one after another.

On the question of whether the Broadway revival CHESS is a concert, this person who saw it

at 14:10 here for three minutes or so
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WVXUpX01Jo

says it's not a concert, but compares it to an Encores presentation

I've always thought that Chess seems to work better with a concert-type presentation so that the songs and performers can shine.  The story (and stories over the years) seems to be the weak link. :-\

I've never heard that score...hopefully, it won't be a slog to sit through!
