Well, you've read the notes, the notes had many BB choices, and now it is time for you to post until the BB cows come home.

And speaking of diet Coke, Fred Meyer is having a sale on 12-packs of sodas: if you buy five or more of Coke and/or Pepsi (you can mix and match!), they're only $5 each! I got three packs of diet Pepsi, and two of a new, limited edition Zero Sugar (they also have full sugar) Shirley Temple, which is a pomegranate and cherry flavored soda:
-
It's quite tasty...in my humble opinion (IMHO in Internet lingo). :)
-
Good morning, all.

What was the link to BK’s eBay page again?

Good morning, all!

I'm very sleepy this morning, and my body did not want to get out of bed when the alarm rang.

I must find this!

DR John G, I can barely wait to see "Blue Moon," since I'll probably never get to a movie theater again. While I've seen several places where Sondheim knocks Hart as a lyricist, I do not recall his ever mentioning meeting Hart, who remains my favorite lyricist (sorry, Steve!).
-
I liked much of Grantchester, but I got tired fast of James Norton's romanric travails with his married girlfriend. When I saw him as Rafferty in House of Guinness, I thought he looked familiar, but I never realized it was the same actor; he seems beefier. and he's much tougher than Sidney. And more sinister as the Guinness famil;y "fixer."

It’s a very short scene. Stevie is almost autistic. And insufferable. What doesn’t ring true about the scene is that Sondheim is criticizing someone on an opening night, even if it’s not Hart’s show. And he wrote about how rude he found that behavior.
-
But an Easter egg in that scene is delicious

I was wondering this, too.

You should see him as a serial killer in Happy Valley!

Many people don't know that in the first draft of Damn Yankees, the song was titled "You Gotta Have Hart."

A rare plug for another lyricist.

Why yes, I do believe it is. Rehearsal tonight!

Also not widely known is that those same songwriters also mentioned another songwriter in "Steam Heat" with "Shovel more Cole in the boiler."

Here's a casual question that anyone may answer, or not. It was inspired by a couple of posts seen on Facebook which triggered some memories.
It's been a couple of decades since any were around, but did you like Howard Johnson's restaurants, or maybe just the ice cream or something else about them, back when they were everywhere? As a family, we ate at them fairly frequently - in Columbus, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and other such highways, in Fort Lauderdale, and finally in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
When I moved to L.A., I was into everything else and didn't go to one for years...not even the one that was at Hollywood and Vine for most of the years I lived there - which is surprising, but I wasn't into it then. But while in Florida for a short time in 1980, there was one near where friends and I were staying, and we sort of rediscovered the goodness of certain menu items and the desserts. I got hooked, and when I returned to L.A. I stopped in now and then at one near the 405 and Marina Freeway interchange, behind the Fox Hills Mall, and that was a nice one where I'd sometimes eat or just pick up a pint of the ice cream.
Moving east, I again rediscovered them by coming across a few of the older ones in Connecticut, and the Times Square one. We visited that one a couple of times when it was about to close. That was 20 years ago. I now look back on them in much the same way I view the great L.A. coffee shops and other such places everywhere, as the kind of wonderfully ubiquitous thing that has largely disappeared from the landscape.

Early vacation memories are Howard Johnson’s kids meals where you got a metal cup of orange sherbet for dessert. I regret never visiting the Times Square one when it was lingering.

The summer before I met Keith he went on a teen tour and had Howard Johnson's ice cream on the East Coast. Neither of us ever had it in L.A.
We were driving in Northern California, possibly on our honeymoon, when Keith suddenly pulled into a Howard Johnson's telling me that had very good ice cream. I had the peppermint stick and found it to be excellent.
Not that we traveled much back then, but when we did see a Howard Johnson's outside of LA we often stopped and I always got peppermint stick.
-
The ice cream was superb. People are always wishing for their recipe to be brought back.
My favorite, and my standard for excellence, is vanilla. Everywhere. In fact, I think that started with my loving their dessert items in 1980, because it was always vanilla that I'd buy there to bring home. And here at home, the few times I've pulled out the little ice cream maker and made vanilla, my goal is that it taste like Howard Johnson's, whether or not my taste-memory of it is accurate.
-
Yes, Howard Johnson's was a go-to spot for our family when I was a kid. My favorites were the hot dogs and the fried clams.
-
Of course those were just clam strips. When I moved to Boston and discovered whole fried clams that was a revelation!
-
The Howard Johnson's on 46th Street across from the TKTS booth was really excellent, and a regular go-to place when in the Broadway theater area!
-
The Times Square one had the bar in the back, something a lot of people liked about HJ's. My family weren't drinkers at all, but it felt like we were in a slightly more "sophisticated" place because so many HJ's had the cocktail lounge. I know people now who feel the same about the NY/NJ/New England diners that serve cocktails, and I always remember this family I knew in California who commented about going to Johnnie's (see: Miracle Mile) for that very reason. It's a funny thing.
-
I ate a lot of things there over the years, but something that always stood out for me was the "ground steak" plate, or whatever they called it. Basically, hamburger meat or slightly better, and it might also have been "charbroiled".

Crazy cray cray with my CVS pharmacy. They keep telling me I can't refill three of my prescriptions until end of November - BS - they say something to do with insurance - BS. Turns out that if they get multiple refills it messes with their system. So, they are now refilling everything and they'll be delivered in the next three hours. I thought I had Mestanon for today but I don't, so I'll need to take that one right away. I had the Prednisone and Folic acid here. Only the Mestanon is a co-pay - so I gave my cc number. And I get a text from BofA asking if I made the charge. Mind you, they've already declined it. I say YES, they say thanks for confirming, it can now go through. Only they declined it. I will never understand why they do this on a one-time small charge. I would totally understand it if it were a big and unusual charge or if I'd been using that card all day, but I haven't.
-
Then they got the dosage wrong on the Prednisone - which was supposedly cancelled over a month ago. So, they had to correct that. It's just wacko - one thing after another.
-
Then Ann Hampton Callaway posts on Facebook that she's at a session with Melissa Manchester, who's just done a Sondheim song and nailed it in one take. Who does that, she asks. I respond, Who does that??? Well, someone I've done three solo albums with plus a ton of other albums. Your sister. Perhaps you've heard of her.
-
I have gotten more texts today than ever before, one after another - the pharmacy, the bank, my cs link, DoorDash, and of course all the spam texts.
-
I think I shall go mad.
-
Of course, I may have gone mad long ago.

-
There was something interesting at our house this week.
-
We kept hearing a beep coming from the bathroom. Not always. Intermittently. Sometimes it would beep a few times, then stop. Or beep once in a while.
-
The obvious reason was a smoke alarm or CO alarm battery going dead.
-
However, we had no alarms in the bathroom.
-
It seemed to be coming from the air conditioning vent, which is over the sink.
-
The only place in the house we heard the beeping.
-
We are old people, so no climbing a ladder to unscrew the vent and see if something was there.
-
We haven't heard it in a couple of days, so we're assuming the battery finally burned out.
-
But what in the world could it have been? Something left in the attic space when they installed the air conditioner four years ago?
-
We'll probably never know. There's no need for anyone to go into the attic space again. Until we replace the AC again in ten years.
-
My DH wondered if a camera was secretly installed? In an old people's bathroom? That would be disappointing viewing. But a secret camera battery wouldn't beep.
-
Strange.
-
Ghosts.
-
Such CVS madness.

And on it goes. An hour ago the delivery guy was there to get my order. But he didn't because the one they cancelled was what was in his system. So, he left. The pharmacy then had to start everything over again. Supposedly, it JUST got picked up and SUPPOSEDLY he's coming here first, but that was ten minutes ago and I'm a mere five minutes from there. I have to leave for the theater no later than six-thirty. But I'm hoping he didn't just say what they wanted to hear - I'm hoping he's on his way here.

Just so annoying.

Been dealing with it since one o'clock.

I honestly thought I had the three Mestanon pills for today. So, I haven't even taken the first of them.

GROAN!
-
Clearly the little creep lied to them - it's been over twenty minutes and since he was five minutes away from here he did not come here first, as promised. Just messaged the pharmacy again and asked if they could text or call the guy and find out why he didn't do what he said he would and get an ETA and that I had to leave at six-twenty and if he's arriving after that I won't be here to receive them. I have never in my life seen such ineptitude from a pharmacy.
-
I hope they see your message. Can you not speak to a live person?
-
Difficult to get them on the phone. They usually call after getting the message, but I think they're have enough of me for one day. It's way too frustrating.
-
I'm sorry. I can imagine how frustrating this is, and you need your meds.
-
I'm lucky that I don't have to deal with traffic or parking when picking up my prescriptions making it easy enough for me to drive to the pharmacy.

Ann Hampton Calloway recorded for Ben Bagley. Did he ever do two takes?

Thank you, all, for the kind words. It helped that we were busy the second half of the day. Busy can be a friend.

They can't leave it. Against policy. But she just arrived and told me that their GPS determines the route and she can't change it. She already knew all the BS that had gone on all day and was very apologetic.

Starting The Muppet Christmas Carol, which I have only seen once.
-
I'm not sure this is even real...but it is funny.

I'd watch it! :)
I would, too!

Starting The Muppet Christmas Carol, which I have only seen once.
I must confess that I've never seen it. ::)
-
Nor have I seen Scrooged with Bill Murray. Several J&H castmates have castigated me for not having seen Scrooged.
-
John, I think your four 4s are worth memorializing, so here they are! :D

Thank you.
-
I’m fading.
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from auditions and Gelson's for snacks - some lobster salad, California roll, and creamy tomato soup.
-
I think we may have our cast - we saw two gals for the leading lady - the first we all liked very much. Singing voice is a little operatic for my taste but we can make it work. She's worked with several folks I know, so I'm gonna ask a couple of folks, but she's spunky and fun, which is the key.
-
Snacks eaten, pill two taken.
-
What a damn day.
-
This was a damn damn day.
-
A double damn day.
-
A day of multiple damns.
-
Meanwhile, where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
After all, I'm here.
-
Having a few M&M peanuts.
-
I can't remember the last time I had actual chocolate candy.
-
Which is weirdly weird.
-
Nobody here but us chickens.
-
Not a single soul.
-
I has Flonased.
-
Eating more M&M peanuts and I don't care who knows it.
-
Why are we still on this page?
-
Shouldn't we be on another page?
-
Apparently not.
-
Apparently so.
-
See?
-
Say what?
-
Still nobody here but us chickens?
-
It doesn't seem right.
-
Why are we still on THIS page?
-
It's a bit of a fright.
-
It makes me uptight.
-
It's late a night.
-
We should be bright.
-
That’s good casting news, Beekay.
-
And take flight.
-
Reach a new height.
-
Go fly a kite.
-
Try with all our might.
-
But this is our plight.
-
Quite.
-
It's shite.
-
And trite.
-
Michael Caine should’ve been Oscar nominated for Muppet Christmas Carol.
-
Black and white.
-
Rodzinski is here.
-
I'm here.
-
Where in HELL is everyone else.
-
Not here.
-
Listening to a favorite piece - A Colour Symphony of Arthur Bliss - so many wonderful performance and am enjoying the one now playing on Chandos, conducted by Richard Hickox. Bliss was an amazing composer.
-
He brings me bliss, Bliss does.
-
Isn't it Bliss?
-
Are we a pair?
-
Losing my timing this late
-
And most of my hair.
-
Well, we made another page, no thanks to George.
-
George was not here to help.
-
He was absent.
-
Absent whilst sipping absinthe.
-
Do you enjoy Eric Coates?
-
8 pages is swell these days.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I do like Eric Coates - have quite a bit of his "light" music.
-

Very cool, BK!
