Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a musical comedy, and now it is time for you to post until the musical comedy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ADJUVANT!

Wordle 1,601 5/6

-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, and the cats behaved. I hope the omens mean it will be a good day.
-
DR George, are you avoiding medications?
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Hooray for Miss Madison!
My idiot niece is one of the Real Housewives of Orange County. She failed as a model for "large" women, dumped her first husband, married a wealthy man, and now is one of the many untalented stars on a lousy Bravo franchise about wealthy women of tiny intellect, little talent and huge egos and facelifts.
-
And others.
-
Where did I park?
-
Why aren't hemorrhoids called ASSteroids?
-
That's what I'd like to know.
-
People with OCD should not live in this building.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I was up early in case the floor person arrived early, but I just checked the emails and he's not due till between 9:30 and 10:00.
Which is fine. At least I'm more or less up and at 'em.
-
Congrats re Ava Madison Gray and the song!
-
Good morning.
-
Here I am, posting about being up and at 'em at 7:30 a.m., while DR Laura is posting at 4:30 a.m.!
Edit: Actually, maybe it was only 5:30 a.m. there in AZ? I never remember that.

Last night TCM showed the Costa-Gavras film Z, which I hadn't watched in years, but it was an exciting movie for some of us back in the day. I couldn't stay awake for the whole thing so I should take it out and watch it soon. I went to it in both Cleveland and Aspen, where I spent part of the summer of 1970, but I'll have to do some research to figure out which was first. I suspect Cleveland. Movies in Aspen at that time were shown at the Wheeler Opera House, and I just remember the place being packed.
Something else I wonder is whether I saw the dubbed English version of Z one of those times. I believe I saw it both ways back then. Skimming over its page in IMDb, I see someone reporting that it was Hal Linden who dubbed Yves Montand.

Isn't it weird how you can trust your dog to guard your home, but not your sandwich?
-
Notes prevaricated. Preambled.
-
TOD: Costco has some chocolate chocolate-chip muffins that we succumbed to buying in a moment of weakness the other night. I did not expect them to be so very good.

I want cameras rolling for the moment Hugh Jackman says, “Wow! Where did you get this song from?”

Isn't it weird how you can trust your dog to guard your home, but not your sandwich?
:) This is true in our home, too.
-
Great news about Ava Madison Gray singing BK's song!
-
TOD: Amazon Fresh makes something they sell by the package called mini-scones that are quite wonderful. I especially like the lemon poppyseed flavor.

Continued rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.

ABC News might want to get a different guy to write the headlnes.

My sister was scheduled to fly out of IAD Dulles Airport on Saturday.
I haven't if hers is one of the flights that has been canceled.

Good luck to your sister that her flight isn't cancelled.

Well, we have a setback because the flooring people say we need more work done in order to put the tiles and carpet in. They have a policy that when water goes from one room to another, it's likely that the adjoining wall (sheetrock) has absorbed some of that moisture, and they require an insurance approval for them to do the work. We don't want to involve insurance because it would be insane to make a claim for something small like this on top of last year's storm damage. My agent even said as much. So we have a good trusted contractor friend coming over to inspect and see what really needs to be done.

Well, I think I have finally reached Jen's limit. I got a check in the mail from New York State as an "Inflation Refund," and I asked Jen if she would deposit it for me when she walked Oscar. When she came by to pick it up, she said, I think it's time you looked into e-Deposit. Since I maybe get 4 checks a year,I think she's getting tired of helping me out.
-
This saddens me, since I really do not want to be a burden to anyone.

DR Jrand, I read an article with tips on flying right now. One suggestion was to carry paper tickets and travel info in case there are system shut downs as well.
The other suggestion was to carry snacks in case you have long waits at airports.
Hopefully your sister won't have any problems.

You should get e-deposit, if it’s available. It’s easy.

I’m not a big muffin person, but I do love a homemade biscuit.

VERY trustworthy. He was just here. He's totally swamped with jobs, but he says it's not that horrendous and he'll see if he can take it on soon, and be in charge of all of it. So we shall hope that can happen.

I'm not a big muffin person, either. I'm also not a big cupcake person.
Don't get me wrong. Put either one in front of me, and I'll eat it. But I've always found those things messy and kind of annoying.

What a relief. I expect she is feeling much better.

I like muffins. Favorites are a good bran muffin and blueberry or marionberry. There used to be a place in Ashland that sold delicious pumpkin muffins for awhile and I was hooked on those.
When we are traveling we often share a muffin when Keith's gets his coffee. There is usually a tempting selection to choose from.

I agree. I’ll eat most anything in front of me, and they are messy.

Scones are wonderful with enough butter. And fresh. Stale, they’re inedible.

It was exhausting at food pantry today. We had many newcomers. And the line of cars stretched down the block. We had a different check-in process because of handing out turkeys.
In a way it felt like elections again.

Do we have any David Cronenberg fans here?
-
I saw Crash, his version was excellent. (Not the horrific Best Picture winner). I am now watching The Shrouds. But what else do I need to see?
-
I forgot he directed A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, both of which I own.
-
I love certain Cronenberg movies, others I can't watch at all. For me, his masterpiece is The Dead Zone, the best Stephen King adaptation ever. If you haven't seen it, stream it immediately - Christopher Walken gives one of his best and certainly most normal performances in it, Brooke Adams is very moving, Herbert Lom is terrific, Anthony Zerbe, ditto, Colleen Dewhurst, chilling, and Martin Sheen - well, think of who's in the Oval Office.
-
I also really like The Brood, love Scanners, love his version of The Fly, and love Dead Ringers.
-
I'd start with all those because they're all better than Crash and The Shrouds.
-
Thank you, BK.
-
For food, I tried the new Big Shack Burger, kind of Shake Shack's Big Mac. Limited time only. It's VERY messy but very tasty. I don't love Shake Shack to begin with, but this big boy burger just hit the spot. Be sure to get some extra "secret sauce."

Just had one of our ensemble ladies quit. Amusingly, she'd already quit the show that opens next at Group Rep. She said we told her it was "light dancing" but that it's anything but light. Well, please, it could not be lighter - I'm a stager - it's movement - it's walking in rhythm on beats, it's gestures - the only thing we've done so far that you could actually call a dance step is the Charleston. The fact of the matter is the writing was on the wall and I'd already discussed having to lose her because she could not do anything that resembled movement - nothing. She kept telling me she'd "get" it but I sensed not, although I was being very patient.
So, we need a replacement gal now and hopefully we can find one.

Not cool.

She was fabulous in the one-person play on Broadway and in the movie version of SHIRLEY VALENTINE.

What’s the lead girl from Drat! The Cat! up to?

When is a cast finalized anymore? People seem comfortable quitting at any time.

Wow, Keith got Wordle in two again :)

I think she's trying to help you. E-deposits are faster and more reliable. They're easy to set up, and they'll give you more independence. Also, more and more government agencies are requiring it, for money going in either direction. So it seems best to have it all set up before you have to.
-
Drat girl just finished doing a show - but this is ensemble and she's anything but that.

I shall shortly be on my way to the theater.

That's too bad, Larry. But as other Hainsies and Kimlets here have been advocating to BK, getting checks deposited electronically really is a great convenience. And you usually get the money in your account much more quickly than a mailed check. Just something to think about. :)

Pauline Collins, star of Shirley Valentine, dies aged 85 (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c62e0n957y9o)
Here are the first two paragraphs:
Pauline Collins, the star of the film Shirley Valentine, for which she was Oscar nominated in 1990, has died at the age of 85.
She died "peacefully" in her London care home surrounded by her family having had Parkinson's disease for several years, her family said.

Back from more fun at rehearsal and accidentally having a really important thing come to me when staging a number - probably the best idea I've had because not only is it a really good idea, it solves everything in terms of what follows - that is my kind of idea. I staged another number, we drilled and drilled, learned more songs and finished around nine-thirty.
-
I've been home for forty-five minutes trying to catch up on everything, plus get some food for the final pill.
-
Hopefully that will be here soon.
-
Can't be soon enough.
-
Will be nice to have tomorrow off.
-
Food eaten and it was good, last pill taken, and I guess I should write some damn notes.
