Well, you've read the notes, the notes were pitted at over 100 miles per hour, and now it is time for you to post until the pitted cows come home.

And the word of the day is: BENIGNANT!

Tonight will be the first read-through/rehearsal for Theater Artists Olympia's next production, Anna Considers Mars. by Ruben Grijalva. I haven't read the script yet, but I do have a copy of it. I think it has some sci-fi element(s) to it, but I don't know how sci-fi-y it is.
-
Sci-fi-y...technical term. ;)
-
Good morning.
-
A 2 a.m. phone call from Nigeria woke me up.
-
I didn't answer.
-
But since I'm up, I blanched a few pounds of green beans I got in my veggie box Saturday. We're having a Thanksgiving potluck at church on Sunday.
-
I invited a bunch of people and they seem interested. So I'd better make sure there's enough food.
-
There always is.
-
I sure wish dear reader Laura would come visit. I remember a time that whenever Mr. Graae was playing she and Darling Daughter Sandra would be here at the drop of a Swedish Chef Hat. Come for the 12/10 Kritzerland show - Jason would love to see you and so would I.
-
I wish we could. It was easier when she was a kid. Now she's grown up and has a job.
-
I'll ask her if she still has three days of vacation time she can take.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The cats behaved, and I could have slept better, but this has been a really bad week for the neuropathy in my lower legs and feet, and the arthritis in my hips and knees only worsens. I remember no dreams but I do remember bweing up several times. Around 1:15 I woke fearing that my legs were paralyzed and would not work. Faithful Thatch stayed with me till my panyt calmed down.
-
I grew up in two different haunted houses. When I was born in 1946 - after conception in a haunted boarding house in the French Quarter of New Orleans (there's another story about that!) - my parents were living at 711 Tenth Avenue with my mother's parents, her oldest, unmarried sister, and two high school brothers. Around 1949, we moved to 3003 Goldman, where I lived on and off until 1979, when I moved to New York.
Both houses still haunt me and still frighten me. If either of them turns up in a dream, you can bet your life that before long the dream will become a nightmare. Last night I dozed off sometime around 9:30 and I was back in the Goldman Avenue house. I don't remember anything about the dream now, except that something happened the dream took a turn and I woke around 10:45, grateful that I'd missed a badm frightening dream.

DR Freddie, Ann did not work on Chess. The husband of one of her friends - a fellow teacher, I believe - worked on the show, and they gave Ann their tickets.

Good morning, friends.

I have no idea what pitting or tracking involve.

But I just googled them.

Exhausted, but survived our tech Sunday. Some very good food was brought in by the cast and we ate well. Most of the day went well. Back at it tonight.

I haven't had catfish since ... well, very likely not in 40 years or longer. I love many kinds of fish, but I never think of that one when faced with a decision.

Dentist today! Cleaning and checkup. I had to postpone this one a couple of times, so I've got to get it done!

Monday.

As MR BK mentioned there are many videos on YouTube about pitting and other chase techniques.
And there are always a couple on each episode of ON PATROL LIVE that airs LIVE on the REELZ network on Friday and Saturday night. The show follows eight different police departments LIVE on each three hour episode - starting at 9 p.m......although there is an early bird special starting and 8 p.m. as well....but 4 hours might be too much.
-
Now and then I watch the shoplifting and traffic stop videos on YouTUBE.
People are really idiots - to say it kindly.
-
I think The Fuller Brush Man used to come to our house when I was younger than school age.
We also had the Jewel Tea Man who had a great truck and had some great merchandise. I think my mother once bought a full set of multicolored Melmac dinnerware from here. That stuff lasted forever and I still may have a saucer or two.
-
Doing well thanks DR JOHN G.
-
And of course The Fuller Brush Girl is a wonderful and funny movie with Miss Lucille Ball and Mr. Eddie Albert.
At that particular time a local channel WTTV Channel Four had a movie series. They would show the same movie at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day for FIVE days in a row.
I always watched on Monday morning - and if i liked it - I could watch it ten times in five days. Many Astaire & Rogers films, King Kong, Stage Door, etc. the RKO catalog with some Columbia throw in....the RKO movies had a new title card that said C & C Presents.
-
And that's enough of me for now.
-
I think one of my aunts might have sold Tupperware. I remember going to a lot of Tupperware parties. My mother loved Avon parties.
-
Fuller Brush man, yes.
Jewel Tea man, yes. I don't remember what they sold, and I'm not cheating by looking it up yet. Aren't those the parked brown trucks in the "Cool" scene of West Side Story?
I remember my mom at least going to Tupperware parties, if not having them herself.
Of course there were the encyclopedia salesman, which is probably how my parents bought the "Book of Knowledge" one which was so lacking in quality in relation to Britannica or World Book, etc. And Bible salesmen, which might be how they bought our first "modern" 4-speed record player in the mid-1950s that came with "the talking Bible" complete on 16rpm records.
And the Charles Chips home deliveries of potato chips. Something else, too, was it popcorn?
-
The Avon Lady! Or Avon parties. How could I forget that?
Like DR Elmore, I think I was at a couple of the Tupperware parties. Maybe we did have one or more at our house. No way of knowing unless my sister might remember.
-
I'm watching Youtube videos about Thanksgiving cooking.
Does anyone really eat green bean casserole made from canned green beans? Sounds really gross. No one in my house would touch it, I'm sure.
-
And these $20 or $40 complete dinners at grocery stores.
I don't think so.
-
We ate so many things from cans back in the day that I'd guess we might have, DR Laura.
I remember asparagus from cans. I grew up thinking that's what asparagus was like.
-
I never ate a fresh peach or pear until I was an adult. Only canned.
-

Every Thanksgiving until 1975, which was most often held at my Aunt Jean's home in Hamilton, Ohio. She died, I believe in late 1975 or early 1976.
-
From DR Rodzinski:
Sky over Vancouver looks purple tonight. Thought it might be the northern lights some folks have been seeing lately, but no, it’s a marijuana grow operation that uses purple lights a couple times a year.
:o

Ah yes, Charles Chips....and yes DR CHAS SMITH there is a JT truck in WSS. I wonder if it was product placement.
We had a photographer who would also come to neighborhood.
There are several photos of us that he would take. He came to your day and then give you an appt. for a few hours later and come back and take the photo.
-
Weird morning. Can't tell if this day will be irritating or not. So far, a little irritating, but hopeful news could come in a bit, which is what I'm holding.
-
In other news, at some point in the next week or so, the site will be down for two hours while they finally get everything updated and move us to new servers where we won't have any of the issues we've been having.
-
I'll have that info well in advance.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to a birthday lunch.
-
Then to the mail place.
-
Then home. Need some excellent vibes and xylophones.
-
Mary Kay is a latter-day Avon Lady. In the 80s and 90s, I heard tell of sex toy parties with an Avon Lady-style proprietrix.
-
I have a Charles Chips tin. Those were excellent things.
-
Today was more an employee orientation day. I have to do a six-hour online training.

It’s substitute teaching
That is all you have said, not the subject/subjects or where you would be teaching.
-
Maybe substitute teaching means you go for any subject they need you for.
-
A 2 a.m. phone call from Nigeria woke me up.
What a coinkydink! A 10:00 a.m. phone call from my mom woke me up! ;)
-
My mother was an Avon Lady. Today, we would call this a multi-level marketing, but the difference was, back then, Avon had some products that people wanted. Recruiting friends to sell was secondary to that.
I spent many an hour sitting in the car while mom called on her core customers. And our basement had an area full of Avon merch.
-
Maybe substitute teaching means you go for any subject they need you for.
Possibly, or maybe just a few subjects.
-
My mom also had a couple Tupperware parties. Again, back then, Tupperware was kind of unique, not found in stores. They had a line of Tupperware toys I liked.
-
Is it for a private school or for the public school district, or both?

But I did answer it. She had a plumber/heating guy coming over to inspect the furnace in her rental house here in Tumwater and she wasn't sure if she would be able to get there in time, so she asked if I could get there and let them in if she's not there. I said that I could, so I took a quick shower and was able to go over before the guy got there.

I started selling Jafra before I had children. I did parties after work, and also did some at lunchtime at work.

I remember coveting Tupperware in my 20's and thinking I would never have all the pieces I wanted. I still have some of those early containers.
-
The Fuller Brush man was a regular at my parents house. I remember him as being very nice. Once I left home I didn't see a Fuller Brush person until we lived in our second Michigan home. The neighbor across the street suggested the Fuller Brush woman stop at my house. I enjoyed seeing all the brushes an cleaning products. I don't recall if I purchased a brush. I liked a number of the cleaning products and used them.

I don't think my mom ever got into those sell-at-home kind of enterprises. She was born and raised in Germany, so the idea may have been too foreign to her. Just a guess.
Did she buy any Tupperware? If so, she might have gone to a Tupperware party to support a friend.
If she did, I either didn't know about it, or just don't remember. We did have Tupperware when I was a kid, though.
Then she purchased it from someone hosting a party or selling Tupperware. She didn't actually need to go to the party.
Anything is possible.

I just have to get through jury duty.
Hope it all goes well!

Vibes they don't need you!

Never having heard of the Jewel Tea man I did a search which is how I found the Autumn Leaf dishes. Not melmac which I couldn't find with my search.
Very interesting, I inherited the bowl that I posted from Keith's mother. The bottom of the bowl looks like this.

DR Jrand, thank you for mentioning the Jewel Tea Man.

Page turn!

Seven!

Howdy, Rupert!

Has anyone heard Idina Menzel’s holiday album, Christmas: A Season of Love?
-
My sister did host some Pampered Chef parties that friends of her were selling. The pizza stone that I have (and got from my sister ;) ) is from Pampered Chef.
That rings a bell. I did buy some Pampered Chef products that my cousin was representing.
-
Oops, that was seven dogs. One was hidden until I opened it.
Terrific picture anyway!

Dozed off for ninety minutes after watching some woman trying every meal that Costco sells. I'm not a member anymore, but I must say the mac and cheese does look great and so does the shrimp salad.
-
Given the under 1000 calories today, I'm thinking a little sweet might be in order.
-
Yes, I'm thinking a sweet would be sweet.
-
Perhaps a suite of sweets.
-
Or a fleet of sweets.
-
A meet and greet of sweets.
-
NOW I really want a sweet.
-
Think I'll go looking around. Pie perhaps - that sounds like a rather good treat.
-
In other news, at some point in the next week or so, the site will be down for two hours while they finally get everything updated and move us to new servers where we won't have any of the issues we've been having.
Huzzah!
-
Two boys are walking down the sidewalk and bouncing a basketball as high as they are tall.
I wonder if they are related to MY basketball boy. Who hasn't been around for a while.
-
Congratulations, DR Jane, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

~~~NEW JOB VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!
Donuts on their way from a great place in the Bank of Bur - located very close to where Doug Haverty used to live. I used to stop there often - it's been around forever. Even the Darling Daughter and I went there in her youthful youth in the early 80s when it opened. Open twenty-four hours, all donuts made fresh every few hours. Got a chocolate chip muffin for the morning, and an Apple Fritter and chocolate buttermilk bar for NOW.
-
We got a streamer code for the new Paul Thomas Anderson movie. Not a big fan of his overlong, overstuffed movies, but I think that's what I'll watch tonight.
-
Thanks for the link about Tupperware, DR Jrand75.
-
After the donuts, of course, which should be here shortly.
-
It IS dangerous, of course, to know that it's open twenty-four hours.
-
Just wrote a follow-up review for Capital Grill, where lunch happened. It's quite the rave. You'll hear more in the new notes.
-
and an Apple Fritter and chocolate buttermilk bar for NOW.
Maybe they should take a page from MSNBC's playbook and call themselves DonutsNOW.
-
It's been raining steadily since around three. Prior to that, it was just kind of a drizzle.
-
I'm glad you had a superlative early birthday lunch, BK.
-
Page eight. That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
EIGHT is GREAT.
-
It ain't sedate.
-
It we don't hate.
-
But it's getting late.
-
Posts are innate.
-
The nun was an oblate.
-
Who did not pontificate.
-
To avoid making others irate.
-
But the eye doctor did dilate.
-
The hobo hopped freight.
-
The doctor had to intubate.
-
The chef had to grate.
-
St. Peter stood before the gate.
-
Ready to berate.
-
The balloon had to inflate.
-
After the donuts, of course, which should be here shortly.
It's amazing, that you can sing "After the Donuts" to the tune of "After the Lovin'" with little to no changes in the emotions.
So I sing you to sleep after the donuts
I brush back the hair from your eyes
And the crumbs on your face
Are so real that they make me wanna cry
And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new
Oh, but after the donuts
I still am nuts for you
-
;D
-
Donuts STILL are not here - it is now over an hour since I placed the order. I don't get it. It's a twenty-minute drive. Perhaps I'll ask the driver. Grubhub doesn't drop and run - they hand you the order.
-
Hope they arrive at long last, BK.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Good night, all.
-
Thanks DR JANE & DR singdaw.
DR JANE I also have some knock-off Tupperware....it's just as easy to lose the lids of those items as the original products.
Lovely bowl and thanks for the pictures DR JANE.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on her millstone.
-
I am glad MR BK enjoyed his early birthday lunch.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE.
-
Vertigo just came on so I think I will watch until I fall asleep.
-
It seems that the FREE way from IRS.gov to file your taxes - good for use by many - will not be in operation this year.
Some say it's just a coincidence that this was preceded by a million dollar gift to the Trump campaign by Turbo Tax.
-
Page Nine.
-
I wonder how DR GEORGE's read thru went?
-
DR singdaw do you have music playing during your parties - that is so sophisticated.
-
And when it comes to sophistication, we here at HHW are the first hogs to the trough.
-
Jrand, thank you so much for commenting under my YouTube!
-
Didn't watch anything due to snoozing all night.
-
Donuts were very good.
-
Guess I should write some damn notes.
-
Donuts arrived. Yay!
-
I wish I had a 24-hour donut place right now.
-
New notes are written.
-
Apple Music put up the John Wilson Oklahoma and My Fair Lady complete recordings. I will have much to say about them when I'm done listening.
-
Oh, yes I will.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
