Well, you've read the notes, the notes were properly working, and now it is time for you to post until the properly working cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GENEROUS!
-
There, all done.
-
That was fun.
-
Shortly, I must run.
-
Perhaps have a sticky bun.
-
We've only just begun.
-
Become a nun.
-
Make a pun.
-
Here comes the sun.
-
It weighs a ton.

Perhaps have a sticky bun.
...or four! (An Into the Woods reference. ;) )
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm up early because they're supposed to come and start the laundry room floor repair today. Don't know what time, but we're up and at 'em.
-
Last night's rehearsal was good. We had our regular bass player back for his only rehearsal. He's fantastic and has played the show multiple times. The other guy is good, but someone is stupendous, there's such a difference. It's too bad he can't play the whole run this time.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was up so early yesterday morning that I was wiped out by 8:00 last night. I slept solidly until arounmd 2:15 or so when I woke up, knowing I was going to bhe sick and to get to the bathroom ASAP. I made it, accompanied by Stella and Annabelle, both of whom were completely rotten as nurses. Stella kept brushing against me while Annabelle sat on the edge of the bathtub and complained.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
So, when I finally got back to bed, I lay n the dark, trying to get to sleep and hearing three cats romping about the apartment. Finally, thigs quieted, Thatch jumped back into bed with me and curlerd up next to me. Shortly after, Annabelle jumped onto the bed, climbed onto her princess pillow (she's a princess, you know), where she's been sleeping nightly for the past couple of months, and I finaly fell asleep. When the alarm rang at 5:30, I turned it off and went back to bed for another hour.
-
It's nice when the Internet is properly working.
-
Today is Social Security day, so I will pay all the bills I can and hope to God there's some money left over for cat food and groceries. At 11:00, I have a FaceTime meeting with my friend Geoff, who live in Dayton, Ohio.
-
DR John G, I'm sorry to learn your friend Bonnie has died. I send condolences to you and all who loved her.
-
I'm happy to learn that Kerry Conte is in Ragtime! She's a really good frend of Joshie, and I've known her since she was a little girl in 1994 in the New York State Theatre Institute production of A Tale of Cinderella.

Her husband was 32 years old when she was born. She has no problems defending pedophiles.

My question for ASK BK DAY:
What is your favorite Jacqueline Susann novel and movie made of her books?

I am making some chicken and noodles today.

Hmm, some chicken noodle soup sounds tempting all of a sudden.

Workers just left. Talk about bankers' hours! But they got all the first stage work done, cutting out and removing plywood and strips of sheetrock (in case there was any mold to be found, and there wasn't), and they'll be back tomorrow.
-
Back from the theater, everyone is now on the exact same page, I have a set model, and all is well.
-
I got home and realized I'd left my sunglasses at the theater. Not good. So, there was someone working there and I got the number from Doug and was just about to call him, when I looked down and saw the sunglasses were hooked on my sweater, which I'd done while using my readers. I gotta tell you.
-
Food ordered. Should be here a bit after noon o'clock.

Excellent! She's a swing and understudies Mother and Emma Goldman. I don't know how often she goes on but she did great last night.
-
Tonight's show is The Queen of Versailles.
-
I watched the movie on the flight over; it's currently included with Amazon Prime. I can see why they thought this could make a good musical. We'll see what they do with it.

After the gym we stopped to pick up a new prescription of an antibiotic ointment the dermatologist ordered (the incision on my arm still looks bad two months after having the stitches removed from my cancer surgery).
Because it is a new prescription I had to wait for the pharmacist to tell her I don't have any questions.
She was on the phone for ten minutes. I asked if I couldn't just shake my head at her. I know it is the law, but really what can she tell me of interest regarding an ointment you put on your skin.
-
Then we rushed over to the specialy pharmacy in Portland to pick up a month supply of my injections.

This is old news (but new news to me somehow), but there's a Michael John LaChiusa musical in the works about Jolie Gabor.
This is from an August 2024 article.
"Mary Testa will star in a three-week workshop of Beautiful Jolie Gabor, Her Glamorous Three Daughters, and Always the Happiness Is Life, a new musical penned by Michael John LaChiusa and commissioned by Transport Group. The musical centers on family matriarch Jolie Gabor, a Hungarian WWII immigrant who is fighting to create a life where persecution can never affect her family again. "

Split, also mentioned in the article, sounds as painful as Out of the Blue, the ludicrous Hiroshima musical.

I'm up early because they're supposed to come and start the laundry room floor repair today. Don't know what time, but we're up and at 'em.
I went to my mom's rental house in Tumwater so that I could be there when Home Depot delivered new kitchen appliances and took away the old ones.
-
However, about two hours into the delivery window, I got a text saying that the delivery has been rescheduled for Saturday, so I went to Urgent Care.
-
I got a cold during the last weekend of J&H and the worst of it is over, but I've had this lingering cough this whole time since, so I figured that I'd better do something about it because Shelly has also been sick for the last several days.
-
She went to Urgent Care and got some medications, but she had symptoms that I didn't, so she has something else.
-
I never got a fever. She did. Hopefully, she'll get better and my coughing will stop with the stuff that I was just prescribed.
-
Alas, the second act didn't work as well as the first act. It catches us up on what happened (more or less) after the documentary came out. But it can't resolve the fundamental problem of why we should care about this couple.
-
The correct answer would be we don't, we want them to fail like they did in the movie. But when your subject is also one of your producers I guess you have to pull some punches.
-
What is it with late-career musical writers and their interest in unlikable Florida real estate people? First Sondheim, now Schwartz.
-
The cast is all fabulous and the sets and costumes are stunning. It was a real treat to see Chenoweth and Abraham live on stage - I might have seen him before, but not her.
-
Younger performers Nina White and Tatum Grace Hopkins were especially fine as Victoria and Jonquil.
-
But even with all the clever adaptation ideas that I enjoyed, like using the real Versailles as a framing device, this show is pretty tone deaf for a week where Epstein, his billionaire buddies, and his victims have come to the fore so much. The performers can't fix that.
-
Act one worked because it ends with the crash, so you think they are getting what they deserve, like in the film. But it is not to be.
-
Thanks for the repor, DR MichaelG. Even when Schwartz's shows don't always work, his scores are always interesting. So I am looking forward to listening to the album.
-
Glad you are starting to feel better, DR John G. Hope that trend continues.
-
Tonight I rehearsed for a combined choir event taking place a week from tonight; Thanksgiving Eve.

Thanks for the report, Michael G.

Thanks, John! I was prescribed benzonatate, a.k.a.Tessalon pearls (never heard of either).
-
They look like vitamin D capsules, but they're to help with my cough.
-
I can take one, up to three times a day, so we'll see how effective they are.
-
The PA also recommended (over the counter) Delsym for cough medication.
-
I got the Fred Meyer generic equivalent...they have the exact same active ingredient at 1/4th the price.
-
She also recommended Cepacol for my (not so bad anymore) sore throat, but I forgot about that when I was at Fred Meyer, so I'll get some tomorrow.
-
She didn't think I had bronchitis because my lungs sounded pretty good, and I'm not coughing up anything, so she didn't prescribe anything for that.
