Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Legrand, and now it is time for you to post until the Legrand cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BLESSING!

And now - Dino at the piano.

BK, you bought a two-CD set of the Umbrellas of Cherbourg...in 1965??
;)
-
Two LP. And a two CD - Choice Delights.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well until 4:30 or so. After I checked the clock and realized I had 90 minutes before the aarm rang, I spent the time dozing and cuddling with Thatch and Annabelle. At one point, Thatch wandered off to the litter box, the kibble boel, whatever, but after a loud scream and some hissing from Stella, he ran back to bed.
-
This morning I have a FaceTig with an old friend in Dayton. Ohio. Before that, after kitty cleanup, I'll have a bath. I have couortant emails to write as well, and I need to wrap up a copy of my book for my friend Chris.
-
DR John G, I hope things resolve well for your brother-in-law.

TOD:
"Windmills of Your Mind". (from "The Thomas Crown Affair")
most of the songs in "Yentl"
"Summer of '42"

I hope there was nothing really bad going on between Stella and Thatch.

Good morning, all.

Survived the first of the two "Sondheim" auditions. Details after tonight's, I don't want to jinx it.
-
My cold is making its way out of the building. Right now I'm using my willpower to not succumb to the usual cough. I need to pick up more Robitussin DM.

Alarming moments with cats who love each other do happen. I remember a couple of times with my first two girls, Muffin and Taffy, sisters. If one just happens to alarm the other at a weird moment, it's like one suddenly doesn't know who the other one is, and goes into defense mode. One time happened when Muffin was intently watching the squirrels or birds out the window and Taffy suddenly poked her the wrong way. This, I remember after 30 years? Yep.

More coffee!!

I wonder what that could have been in the Jersey Mike's sandwich with just cold cuts. Doesn't matter, of course, since once you're grossed out, you're grossed out.
Couple of years ago I was put off by a piece of gristle in a Marie Callender's chicken pot pie. It so grossed me out that I discontinued getting the chicken ones completely.

Good morning, friends.

There is a new jazz Sondheim album out. I'm undecided about it.

The hitherto undisclosed subtext behind "Nobody's Side."

Good morning, all.

I liked the idea of Chesterfield’s selling CDs well before anyone knew about them.
-
My German-Canadian MIL uses the word “chesterfield” synonymously with “couch.”

The hitherto undisclosed subtext behind "Nobody's Side."

-
My German-Canadian MIL uses the word “chesterfield” synonymously with “couch.”
That's interesting. I vaguely think I've heard that before. The word my family always used was "davenport".

TOD: the Theme from Brian’s Song, which brings back memories of the sheet music we had, and hearing my older siblings practice that song all the time.
-
singdaw, how does that fit with the song "Nobody" sung by Sylvia, saying
"Well, your Nobody called today. She hung up when I asked her name"
-
My parents has an LP I still have, with a pretty blonde girl on the cover. Scarlet Ribbons: Michele Legrand’s Folk Songs for Orchestra.

Sylvia can love you like Nobody can. Even better.

Bath and kitty cleanup accomplished. No injuries, but I did have to stop Annabelle from doing her reckless dives into what is usually an empty tub.

That was an interesting look at that song! The performers looked very flexible.
It hasn't erased Aaron Tveit's rendition from my playlist, though. :)

I was home in time to take my prednisone before 9:00 and eat breakfast.
-
There was even time before breakfast for Keith to cover my healing wounds after I cleaned them and put the antibiotic ointment on them.
The one on my arm from the surgery, that needed the stitched removed that did not disolve, is looking much much better and not so ugly.
The one on my hand that had the double spray to zap what is probably skin cancer is beginning to look better.
Fortunately I treated them before they became infected.

First day without rain here in a week. I took a long walk to the bank to pay the credit card bill.

Four hours into the training. It’s long, but not as long as a school day

DR RODZINSKI the comments are that video are AMOST as entertaining as the video itself.

I've been seeing previews for Hamnet, which I would like to see. Has anyone read the novel? I'm puzzled that Anne Hathaway in this new film has been given a different name - Agnes - and I am puzzled.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

The thing that arrived but didn't arrive and was a pain in the A, arrived. Hoo and ray. One less thing to worry about.
-
Must order some food now.

Laura, regarding this quote:
"So you want to wash your hands? Or, like me, I want to wash my hair. I lather up. And I turn that … there's no water. The water's, drip. They call it. They put a restrictor on. I won't mention the third item in the bathroom because I always get criticized. I used to mention that but I don't mention it anymore, because you know what I … I think you do. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you shouldn't be owning a McDonald's franchise. You wouldn't do well even with a McDonald's franchise."
I assume the third item in that bathroom is the toilet. Or am I wrong?
-
I'm not the one who said it. A world leader said it.

TOD: "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life" and "Windmills of Your Mind" are my particular favorites.

Not Michel Legrand, but how have I not known before today that Ronan Farrow did a music video?
Leigh Nash sings "Cry" with Villiers (Official Music Video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvdFtOU9QVI
Villiers is his mom's (Mia Farrow's) middle name.

Food was good.

As to rules about when to let the author see a rehearsal - the only time I keep them away is when I'm blocking and working with the actors. That is OUR time - to play, to experiment, to try things and throw them out, and not be inhibited by people sitting there watching that process. Once we're past that, which we will be after tonight, hopefully, he can come watch as much as he likes.

I really loved Hamnet. It was a pandemic novel that came out during the pandemic. Some of it was truly brutal and beautiful at the same time. The scene where a body is prepared for burial had me tear up.
-
Four!
-
I think Hamnet was my favorite book of that year. So, I am nervous about the movie measuring up.

I survived the training. Tomorrow I get fingerprinted. Then I can start.

During one of Rachel Ray’s SXSW parties, I got into the photo pit and watched Cliff play from about five feet away. It was a thrill.

Congratulations though I expected as much.
-
Glad you are progressing with your new job, DR John G.
-
Thanks for answering my question, BK.
-
My prediction of a hectic (short) work week were borne out today.
-
It was a bit stressful.
-
Hope the rest of the week is better, Singdaw.
-
Watching the latest and last Downton Abbey movie.
-
Two Noel Coward songs in the first 10 minutes.
-
Less stress vibes for DR singdaw.
-
Glad to hear that it arrived MR BK.
-
DR JOHN G what is the dress code for gentlemen teachers nowadays?
-
I was thinking I might be able to skip getting this week....but I do have to go in the morning for some this and that.
-
No flip flops, no T-shirts with garish writing, no jeans, no shorts.
-
Yes I think DR LAURA's post was from a very stable genius who is now negotiating a big peace agreement now that will make the world a better place.
-
The Noel Coward recording just used was written about 10 years after the setting of the movie. And though he’s singing, the song, I’m Old Fashioned, was written by Jerome Kern. Nitpicking, to be sure.
-
I just got a minor character in Downton mixed up with a character in The Gilded Age.
-
The Queen of Versailles is closing.
The last performance is January 4. This is why I wanted to see all these shows in November soon after opening. Of the three musicals I saw, this was the clear candidate to close the earliest.
-
It was a bit stressful.
Sending calming vibes to you.
-
The credits are rolling. Downton Abbey is now at rest. A lovely final image in the credits.
-
Five!

Great news that was expected to arrive has arrived, BK!

:) But what is the third item in that bathroom that he's been so careful about not mentioning? He said "I won't mention the third item in the bathroom because I always get criticized."
Does he mean the toilet?

I had a fun book discussion with my group this evening. All but one liked the book which was nice since I picked it. We read The Secret Book Society by Madeline Martin.
-
I was too tired to pick a book and chose it since it was the next book in my library queue and I like the author ;D While I liked it, I prefer other books I have read by her.
