Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of The Boy Friend and Nuremberg, and now it is time for you to post until the Nuremberg cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BULLISH!

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Jane!! :D
-
I don't know if this was posted before, but the film of the London production of Merrily We Roll Along from 2013 that was the basis of the new Broadway revival and film is on YouTube:

-
Good morning, all.
-
Up early for a Sunday. It's a matinee day.
-
And after the show, we're all going out to Woodbury, CT, for a holiday par-tay at our director's house.
-
I must get out my Blu-ray of The Boy Friend. Been way too long since I've enjoyed that.
-
For now, it's time for:
More coffee!
-
Good morning.
-
Yesterday we saw the tour of Shucked. Very silly and fun.
-
Then we had our church Christmas party. I spent the morning setting up for that before we went to the theater.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I need more sleep
-
HAPPY HHW BIRTHDAY to our very own dear DR Jane!!!!!
-
Happy birthday wishes to Jane!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
BK - loved the "Too Many Ballads" lyric in last night's posts!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I decided last night to sleep in, if I could. In Friday's tum joints. I'ble, I scraped my right hand and knee, but most of the pain is in my neck and shoulders along with my usual knee and hip joints. I am moving better than I did yesterday, but the aches are still here, especially in my right shoulder.
-
So . . . I tried to do that, but sleep wasn't easy with three cats leaping in and out of bed or climbing and wrestling over me. It was hell, so I got out of bed, fed three devuls, and had some coffee and oatmeal while I listen to a Schubert Mass, conducted by the great Carlo Giulini, whose EMI recordings of Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro are two of the great ones.
-
I think King of Kingsmay be ny favorite Bible film, too.
-
BK and I have discussed Preview Harvey, and he's aware of my dislike of the book while admiring his accomplishment in pulling it off. I bring this up, not to knock the book, but to suggest that BK write his guide to the movies. Hs short comments in the notes about films he's watched are so good, even when you disagree with him, that I thibk it would be a wonderful book.
My once upon a time friend Ethan Mordden just did a book on show CDs. I like the text, although he passes along some incorrect gossip, but it needed a good editor, and the layout is horrible. BK would do a much better job of a similpar book on movies.
-
Happy Happy Birthday, DR Jane!
-
DR Elmore, do you still have that heated cat bed? Leonard spends the night in his. Maybe your kitties would abandon you and let you sleep.
-
After church next Sunday, we are holding the funeral for our church member. They are expecting around 100 people. That's a lot of people to feed. Glad I'm not in charge!
-
Happy birthday, Jane!
-
I think my favorite biblical film is The Nativity Story.
-
Or Pasolini’s Gospel According to Matthew.
-
Two!

CAUTION: SHILLING FOR YOUTUBE VIEWS AHEAD!
As the MERRILY movie comes out, recalling the first Sondheim revival that went premium: This week (Dec. 13) is the anniversary of the opening of the starry 2009 A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, first starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury.
My blog and YouTube parody timeline celebrated that in our usual way-
Here's a 10-minute mini-movie from 2009, a parody marking that first time a Sondheim show went premium. (This was done with the permission of Mr. Sondheim and his publisher.)
A LITTLE SITE MUSIC, or EVERY DAY A LITTLE NET followed the ladies of A Little Night Music (Charlotte, Anne, Madame Armfeldt, Desiree, Petra and Fredrika) as they dealt with the internet and premium tickets to the starry revival of their show.

George, thank you for those delightful photos in last night's posts of the lighted boats parade!
-
I think my favorite biblical film is The Nativity Story.
I dont know it, but I did like the BBC version.
-
But I also prefer Robert Graves' novel King Jesus to Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.
-
Good morning to all
-
Happy birthday to DR Jane.
-
Happy birthday to greatest living record producer of all time Bruce Kimmel.
-
I remember watching the Boy Friend on home video and I mentioned here that there was a jump cut during one of the musical numbers which I forget which one at this time and I wondered if they couldn’t find the footage and BK mentioned that’s how it was in the original released version.
-
Happy Happy Happy Birthday to DR JANE!!!
-
Dancer's Lingo is the title of the second volume of my memoirs.
-
I like The Boy Friend a lot.....so many funny things....the maid answering the phone by saying - "Bon" but not really pronouncing it correctly....or is that another movie?
-
Happy Birthday, DR Jane!
-
I certainly enjoyed your photos last night DR GEORGE.
-
Matinee & party vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Good morning to all
Hi Michael. Good to see you here!
-
DR MICHAEL!!!
-
I decided today would be wash day.....and so it is.
Since I don't have a matinee or a rehearsal or a commentary to write or a meal to prepare for.....
-
I especially liked the photo of the Fifa Peace Prize that DR GEORGE posted.....LOL....
The way he grabbed it and put it over his head making that idiot face he uses....
-
Bruce, thank you for the big birthday wishes :)
-
Happy birthday DR Jane!

Happy Sunday to one and all... on this week's Broadway Radio Show, author/historian/director Rob Schneider returns to share his 12 Favorite Show Tunes! Back in October, Rob was on the show chatting about his terrific book Queer Musicals, and now, he's back to reveal the dozen show tunes he loves the most.

Sunday afternoon greetings! After 5 of the prior 6 days with commitments, I’m enjoying a puttering day at home.
-
From DR George,
I didn't realize that my phone camera had a night setting, so I took this after the parade was all done:
WOW!
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Jane!!!
-
I enjoyed the photos from the boat parade. We are too far away from the river to see the boats well unless we use our telescope.
-
I forgot to look for the boats last night.
-
From George,
What's really cool is that building used to be an auto shop back in the 1980s (the restaurant kept the big garage doors!) and that auto shop used to be owned by Mona's late husband.
Cool.

Wow! Lovely page turn!
-
Thank you. I looked for three boats in a parade and could only find one or more than three ;D
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.
-
Been doing organizing since arising.
-
Food ordered. Rehearsal in fifteen minutes.
-
Should go quickly.
-
I've been hanging some stuff - window cards that were in the garage are now up - just rearranged a few things - if I have nice and fun and even rare stuff, I want to see it.
-
And I damn well will.
-
I will, I tell you.
-
After food, which should arrive at one, I'll finish up the commentary, then relax.
-
I must get out my Blu-ray of The Boy Friend. Been way too long since I've enjoyed that.
Me, too!

And now, I must be off. I'll be selling Johnny Cash tribute merchandise. :)
Be back later!

This Zelle nonsense is working my last damned nerve. I've now got my online bank account so screwed up, I will probably be on the phone all day tomorrow with my bank. Why the fat hell can't the damned bank offer Sunday hours for customer service.

I enjoyed them too. Thank you, George.

Reading something called Flashlight by Susan Choi. It’s an overwritten reworking of Henry James’ shorter and superior What Maisie Knew. And the author plays around with the timeline, which is irritating and unnecessary. And yet, I am taken with it, so far, despite its flaws.
-
I've been hanging some stuff - window cards that were in the garage are now up - just rearranged a few things - if I have nice and fun and even rare stuff, I want to see it.
Yes you should.

I may reread James’ wonderful novella afterward.

Glorious indeed.

I don't trust any of those money apps. My friend had her bank account drained by one of them.

This afternoon we saw A Christmas Carol at our local theater. It was a darker production than Scrooge!, which is my favorite. But it was very good. It was in their new theater, where our formerly center seats are now off center because of the layout of the theater. But still great seats.
-
Laura, I'm glad you are still happy with your seats and that you enjoyed A Christmas Carol.

Good evening!

Good night, friends.

Exhausted and need to get up early
-
Good night, all
-
Watched a documentary and am now trying to watch Jay Kelly - dozed off, though, so I'm taking an ice cream break so I can take pill two.
-
We all scream for ice cream.
-
I “listened” to a podcast documentary. “I’m Still Peter Bogdanavich” by TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz. It was interesting. Like sux parts. Doesn’t really discuss any films after Mask.
-
First I listened to another TCM podcast series about the making of Bonfire of the Vanities by the author of the Devil’s Candy book.
-
She had a lot of interesting old audio tapes that she talked over.
-
These were on YouTube.
-
After directing a musical that last thing in the world I would want would be have those hooligans in my house.
-
I watched A Night To Remember on TCM.....with Ben M. and a kiddie host.
I bought the book when I was about ten from my grade school book club.....and a couple of years later the movie Titanic was on NBC's Saturday Night At The Movies....
I didn't see this until it was on the CBS Thursday Night Movies in the later sixties. And I also got the German version on DVD several years ago.
Parts of each are favorites.....but there is not one that I like entirely. Of course the 1999 version was also good....
-
Page five???
-
Really?
-
Not very sporting.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
We really must get off this damn page.
-
We had to read A Night to Remember in 7th grade.
-
I'll write some damn notes shortly.
-
And soon I will be older.
-
Let’s move beyond 5
-
Perhaps not wiser, but one does strive, oh, yes, one does strive.
-
To six!
-
Finally.
-
Now, get me off this damn page.
-
Vitally.
-
But we just got ON this page.
-
Verily.

New notes are up.

Up are new notes.

Some would say seventy-eight is old.

But not if you follow the fold.

Or are bold.

Or stay out of the cold.

Or so I'm told.

Go for the gold.

Get a firm hold.

And avoid mold.

Flat or rolled?
