Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both virgins and ten thousand thrills, and now it is time for you to post until the virgin cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WINDFALL!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK!!!
-
You know, charcuterie is just Lunchable that majored in musical theatre.
-
Watched Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man on Netflix. It was OK. Daniel Craig returns, and Glenn Close is in it, too.
-
It is a "locked room" mystery, and it features a list of prominent published "locked room" mysteries:
The Hollow Man — John Dickson Carr
Whose Body? — Dorothy L Sayers
The Murders in the Rue Morgue — Edgar Allan Poe
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd — Agatha Christie
The Murder at the Vicarage — Agatha Christie
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR John G, what is the new Sondheim book?
-
I just checked IMDB. I have never seen a Jennifer Lawrence movie.
-
DR John G, what is the new Sondheim book?
:)
-
Vibes for BK for a modern major miracle to make an appearance!
-
Sickness-stay-away vibes for BK and all HHW-ers!
-
You know, charcuterie is just Lunchable that majored in musical theatre.
LOL!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning.
TOD: I haven't had a television in the house since you had to get a converter box. When was that? I've never had cable. I have no idea what TV shows are on now.
-
Probably the only current thing I watch that is on network tv is Saturday Night Live clips on Youtube.
-
However, I am totally engrossed in the Chit series on Youtube.
-
When I go to a motel, I turn on the tv and go through all the cable channels wondering why in the world people pay for cable. I usually find old reruns of something, like Friends, or my favorite: The Weather Channel.
-
I woke up with a headache. Three cups of coffee, two advil, and a purring black cat in my lap made me feel human again.
-
:)
That is so Annabelle! She woud be the prize employee at any DMV.
-
Whew. I shoveled for about 20 minutes this morning and then gave up.
I may go out and finish in an hour or so.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
I still enjoy The Gilded Age and Ghosts.
Heated Rivalry is fun.
-
I will shortly be off to a school rehearsal which, thank the lords, was NOT at the crack of dawn this time.
-
Still a bit offish today....but time will tell as the day goes on...
and on....and on...and......
-
Such terrible news from all over this weekend.
And after seeing the news about Rob Reiner all I could think of is Rob Reiner is dead and the big fat orange menace is still living.....where is the justice in that?
-
Uh oh....knock on the door.....could be ICE....I'd better deleted that last post.
-
Two!
-
I slept around 10 hours, thanks to the Robitussin.
-
Our driveway cleanup yesterday was a pretty horrendous job for a fairly simple 2-3" of (you know), what with temperatures in the single digits, at least as a wind chill factor, and wind blowing it all back in one's face. But I got enough done to get me out to the show, and the plow guy and Nathan did a lot more work on it while I was out.
-
I need to get ready for teaching.
-
Still a bit offish today....but time will tell as the day goes on...
and on....and on...and......
More feel-good vibes, Jrand.
-
Yes, news from all around is just sickening.
-
I want more sleep. Is that so wrong?
-
Feel better vibes for DR Jrand75!
-
Uh oh....knock on the door.....could be ICE....I'd better deleted that last post.
LOL!
-
TOD:
All Creatures Great and Small
The Guilded Age
-
I filled the tank yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the $2.59 price. We haven't seen that in a good while.
-
And that would be $2.44 for the BJ's credit card holders (such as our E&T DR vixmom!).
-
TOD:
Brilliant Minds, though I'm sorry the new season has less of Donna Murphy's character
The Pitt
The Gilded Age
Matlock
The Morning Show - even with the weird AI development of this year's season
Adolescence - though very grim subject matter
The Madame Blanc Mysteries
In more arguably "potboiler" subject matter, though well-produced:
Heated Rivalry episodes 1, 2 and 4 so far (episode 3 was too tasteful somehow)
Malice
All Her Fault
The Girlfriend
DR Chas, our HHW calendar says it is your birthday yet you have not mentioned this fact.
This feels too timely to not repeat this parody, with TITANIQUE announcing for the St. James Theatre
The idea of a Celine Dion parody show like TITANIQUE, that started small and (one assumes) is ready to charge Broadway premium prices of whatever the market will bear, is a joy to contemplate for those of us who traffic in parody! :)
Monday afternoon greetings! We are still housebound because our driveway has not yet been cleared. Richard had to reschedule a routine checkup with our primary care physician.
-
From DR Singdaw,
Interesting, DR Jane. So you use those as a preventative before going out in public?
Yes, as a preventative. If I know I will be wearing a mask then I don't bother as I have a very good KF94 mask. I prefer not to wear a mask at the gym, and only put it on if someone is working out next to me. Most of the time I feel comfortable with the space around me. We do also talk to people while we are there and I don't put a mask on to talk-lol
-
The nasal thing has a strong oder and I found I need to hold my breath while I am rubbing it in. After that is doesn't bother me.
-
And the driveway clearers are here!!!
-
Singdaw, I have the bottle Keith purchased from the Nozin.com. I haven't finished the bottle yet.
Nozin® Nasal Sanitizer® 12mL Bottle
$24.00
I guess the sticks you are looking at would be could to carry with you if you need to reapply it.
-
DR Kevin, thanks the the great last night.
-
Kevin, good for you getting four.
-
DR Kevin, I saw the original news report on the Reiners and then watched for an update. So very sad :(
-
From DR George,
I came across video of someone pulling a rifle out of one of the attacker's hands. :( Fortunately, the rifle-puller did not get hurt!
I'm guess by now you know that he was shot twice and had surgery.
-
George, thanks for the congrats to Keith.
I woke up with a headache. Three cups of coffee, two advil, and a purring black cat in my lap made me feel human again.
Im glad you are feeling human again.
Birthday wishes to Karen Morrow. Lovely clip!
-
I'm up, I'm up - another six hours of sleep. Was trying for eight.
-
Totally forgot I'm being taken for a belated birthday dinner by the Pearls tonight. Problem is, I already ordered food before being reminded of that factoid. I'll just eat half of what I got and save the rest and I'll try to be a good boy at dinner and just have a little filet mignon and veggies - very low calories for that. Or maybe a cup of clam chowder, a shrimp cocktail, and a wedge salad.
-
We shall see.
DR John, I just saw the wonderful photos/video on Facebook from your dance last night.
-
Another favorite show, this year and since 2023, is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
-
We continue to enjoy Call the Midwife.
-
We are currently watching Pluribus. It is an original concept. I won't know if it is a favorite show of the year. until it is over.
-
Anthony Geary from General Hospital has died.
A half hour favorite is Nobody Wants This.
I also forgot about the new comedy Chad Powers.
Back in the same special ed bridge class as last time. Some new, some of the same kids
Are you still enjoying it?
I asked Alexa this morning to play some Karen Morrow. For the first time, I think, the mix included two BK-produced tracks: Baby, It’s Cold Outside and a song cut from Ballroom.
We did not care for the 4th season of Stranger Things that aired in 2022. This year it returned with the 5th and final season. The final season, so far, has been very good.
-
I almost forgot the wonderful Slow Horses. I am looking forward to season 6 next year.
-
Time for my weekly injection.
-
Good afternoon.
-
I went for a walk this morning and took all the leftover Halloween candy to -- of all places -- the dentist's office. They have a candy dish in the waiting room with mini candy bars and things.
They were very happy to take it off my hands.
LOL! His first rescheduling was to February 9, but when our driveway got cleared he called to see if today’s was still available. It was not, but they offered him one for tomorrow. I imagine the scheduler has been pretty busy today.
You're right, I didn't mention it. I am rarely one to mention my birthday, I've just always been like that. I'm happy if someone says something, and if they don't, that's totally cool. But I thank you!
Was too late to cancel. I ate a bit of it so I could take pills. I'll be fine by five-thirty and I'm sure food won't be on the table till six. Lowest calorie option is the filet and that's what I'll have, along with only veggies. Under 500 calories.
I don't think that photo is Karen Morrow. Looks like Ruta Lee to me.
A half hour favorite is Nobody Wants This.
My half hour favorite is The Chair Company, which is quite cynical, but had some amazing twists in its last two episodes. Also, there was added fun to watch because our next door neighbor has a nice role which featured him really well with a few showy bits of business in one of the episodes, and fun too getting to spot him as one of the people in the office in the other weeks.
I'm seeing if I can link this.
Jrand, not sure if I got this exactly right - I quoted (and attributed to you by name) your thought that DEATH OF A SALESMAN might want to add that famous line by Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) for Linda Loman. This link might work. It's the 8th of 8 comments.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/12/theater/little-bear-ridge-broadway-closing.html?regi_id=8230676&template_id=744&tracking_id=biza-R4iJNb27fmHK3jC8&user_id=f5652f70984fbabcced404e6318dc852#permid=147291925
In case that link doesn't work, this is what I'd posted in the Times comments under the article "‘Little Bear Ridge Road’ to Close Early on Broadway"
Freddie
New York, NY
@Grittenhouse
I'd never have guessed before this that in the Broadway climate of 2025, while Lea Michele's TV fame was a license to print money, Laurie Metcalf's TV fame with those Broadway reviews was not box office.
Regarding your saying "Maybe if she studied for a year or two in Britain, she might be a great actress."
Watch her in this classic moment from "Roseanne" giving a master class in comedy laced with pain, at 0:50 here.
Roseanne, Jackie - DAD'S DEAD! - "He's fine, he sends his love!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0-QswAafVc
(A very funny person named Jack Earles on the net quipped that while they're adjusting "Death of a Salesman," in order to make it more 2026 box office, they should sneak in adding "Dad's fine, he sends his love!" for Linda Loman!)
I'm very confused about details and even at times who is who (or is it who is whom) on this show, but Skip is really enjoying it, and I'm finding it involving. I've had to read online episode synopses after viewing an episode on this show; That doesn't usually happen to me on these streaming series.
I went back out about 11 a.m. to finish shoveling the driveway.
I was about 15 minutes into the work when a young man = probably a high school student - came running down the street and asked "Do you want me to finish that for you?"
Of course I said yes. He finished in about 10 minutes and shoveled from where I stopped until where the snow plow had gone by on the street.
I gave him ten one dollar bills. He was very happy....and so was I!
Watching the movie Prancer, which people either love or hate. I love it, but it’s tough. Perhaps a little too much realism for a Christmas movie.
As long as it has a happy ending and no animals die I would say it is safe to watch. Maybe we will this season, if you say it is safe.
Happy Birthday, DR ChasSmith!
From DR George,
I came across video of someone pulling a rifle out of one of the attacker's hands. :( Fortunately, the rifle-puller did not get hurt!
I'm guess by now you know that he was shot twice and had surgery.
Sadly, yes. The video that I saw was fairly short and didn't show him getting shot.
I don't believe there is a photo of him getting shot, at least not so far.
I would hope not. :o
Keith got Wordle in five.
Good for Keith.
Enjoy the your weather, Laura! ;D I'm enjoying the rain that we're getting. :)
Surprised to see Criterion is finally releasing A Man and a Woman after all these years.
-
What next? A box set of La Strada and Sweet Charity?
-
I hope you had a very happy birthday, DR Chas
-
I'm sorry to have been so E&T things are rather hectic lately
-
I haven't seen or spoken to WFO in over a week
-
I was asked by work to drive up to Midfketown to conduct a closing on Friday
-
I headed up at 630 am and made it in 2.5 hours but the return trip took closer to 4
-
Fortunately I just put a new radiator, heating coil, headlights and transmission fluid as well as an oil change so the van was warm and comfortable for the 250 mile round trip
-
We had 6 inches of the white stuff here on Sunday.
-
The plan had been to hsve the Sunday school.concert, advent festival and greeni g of tge church Sunday.
All were cancelled, along with both services
-
On the bright side, we brought the tree in on Saturday and I hung the lights, so on Sunday while we were snowed in I pulled out the ornaments and decorated the tree
-
Im not feeling very Christmassy
-
Oh!!
Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate!
-
Im not feeling very Christmassy
Me either.
250 miles?? Yikes! :o
-
Glad you were warm and comfortable, Vixmom!
That's too bad.
-
Im not feeling very Christmassy
Same. I feel like I've done it twice at church already.
-
Well, speaking of not Christmassy, look what arrived in the mail today:
-
It's the original Broadway cast recording of Damn Yankees in "Digitally Extracted Stereo."
-
Here's what the 2025 Digital Stereo Remix Producer wrote in the CD:
-
Back from a lovely dinner with the Pearls at the Smoke House. More about that later.
-
Now to finish the movie I'm in the middle of.
-
I'm quite full.
-
Mono recordings are mono, period. Splitting them off into four sections doesn't make them stereo - it may give you panning and separation but they were not miked for stereo and can never BE stereo, no matter how self-serving this guy is. He was not the first to use Pro Tools - I can tell you that WE were the first to use it on cast albums - Vini was always ahead of the curve in that regard.
-
Thank you for the nasal information, DR Jane!
-
And apparently they only press 100 of these things so how they're not losing money, presuming they're actually paying this guy to do what he's doing, is anyone's guess.
-
Oy. Today was a long day. Our department took a record number of calls. On the line the general public uses, there was at one point 2,500 folks on hold, and the hold time reached over 5 hours.
-
HAPPY HAPPY HHW BIRTHDAY, dear DR ChasSmith!!!!
I was wondering how "stereo-y" (technical term) it could actually be.
-
I'll listen to it on my computer with headphones so that I can hear the "stereo" effect better than just from speakers since it's getting late and I don't want to have to play something very loudly.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Good to see DR vixmom here.
-
I hope she wins the $1.1 Billion Powerball tonight.
It sounds like they're using AudioShake for splitting into stems to do their simulated stereo. So I suspect someone along the way is also paying AudioShake (or perhaps a competitor) for their technology.
-
Or maybe it is someone else. Last I checked AudioShake didn't do well with large ensembles, just small combos, but maybe it's better now.
-
He never said he was the first to use ProTools, just that he was an early adopter of SoundDesigner II.
-
As they used to say on cheap reissue labels in the ‘60s…
“Electronically processed to simulate stereo.”
-
I always wonder if I play a fake stereo reprocess like that but switch my receiver to mono, am I getting the true mono or some muddled other creature entirely.
-
The Pickwick label is a bad one for stereo simulations and reissues where there are 10 songs instead of the original’s 12 or whatnot.
-
Yes, exactly, but now there's AI to help the electronic processing! And it probably does sound better than those older fake stereos.
-
I really doubt you'd get the true (e.g. original) mono. Especially with these newer ones where there's supposed to be a lot more processing going on than just panning separate stems.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
We used tech to separate the vocals from the band on the vocals we could save for The Sherman Brothers Album. Doesn't work on duets at all and even on some solos.
-
I'm listening to the "Digitally Extracted Stereo" Damn Yankees and to my untrained ears it does sound pretty good.
-
I couldn't find my original mono CD release, so I can't compare. :-\
-
BK, you and some of the others here know what to listen for, but I don't, so I'm enjoying it.
-
If nothing else, it just sounds a lot better than my original CD.
-
George, why don't you make me an mp3 of the CD and send - that way I can hear what they've done.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
You can read them if you so choose.
They won't give you the blues.
You might see the word Jews.
But not the word pews.
But you'll get some news.
And we'll get some views.
