Well, you've read the notes, the notes said nay to bah humbug and yea to holiday cheer and good tidings, and now it is time for you to post until the cheerful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EUPHONIOUS!

So yesterday, my sister and I went shopping at Costco and Fred Meyer in preparation for the family's Christmas Day Do at my sister's house. We were gone for more than a couple of hours...just slowly walking through both places and making sure that my sister got everything that she needs. After we brought everything to her house, I had to go shopping on my own for the things that I'm bringing: eggnog, diet Pepsi (and a couple of other soda flavors), and something else that I forget but I know I got.
-
Then, a little later in the evening, Shelly and I had dinner at my mom's. Shelly made shrimp for her and my mom. My mom made some steaks that she got from QVC, and I had a couple of homemade hamburgers (I'm not a fan of steak or shrimp). We all also had baked potatoes and it was all quite delish. We played a game of Phase 10 and I won! Then we came home and I zonked out. ::)
-
Today, we both have separate errands to run, then we're going over to Margo's house to help decorate her Christmas tree, and then Shelly and I (and maybe Margo) are going to the free annual Messiah Sing-Along downtown at the Washington Center. :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm waitiing on an Amazon Fresh delivery.
-
Should be here at any minute.
-
Amazon Fresh is moving very slowly this morning, but it has arrived, the delivery is put away, and have to pick up all the empty bags and put them in the trash.
-
DR Ginny, about that church production of The Business of Good Government that Richard was un: do you by any chance have a program? If so, could you scan it?
Thanks!

Regarding BK's mention of The Graham Norton Show -
I really enjoy this clip, where Graham Norton so spontaneously brings Dame Judi Dench into the story with such humor

Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I've got to get moving soon on some - naturally, last-minute - errands that need to be completed today.
-
Must also top off the tank, which I believe is going to run me $2.59/gallon.
-
We're supposed to have an inch or two of SN*W tomorrow morning, which will certainly require some cleanup, and then tomorrow night I'm going to my friend's annual Dec. 23 bash. So everything else must get done today.
-
Good morning, all.

It may hit 80 today.

Monday....40 degrees. And that's okay.

DR RODZINSKI - Huntz Hall as Jesse Lasky was good.
There was a scene at Lasky's house where he was watching his albino gorilla that was in a cage. The commentator said: "This is not the first time Huntz Hall had worked with a gorilla, but it was probably the first time it was a real one."
-
I watched two documentaries on HBO MAX last night.
Class Action Park - about Action Park in New Jersey during the 1980's. Lots of injuries and problems and of course grift and graft by the owners.
Lula Roe - about some MLM scam involving women's clothing - and it's still in operation.
-
I shall have to think about the TOD.
-
Thanks for the information DR JANE.

I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep.

We should probably get to page 2 before noon (Eastern). It shouldn't be that difficult.

Another Graham Norton Show quick excerpt. Amazing to realize this is the same Jack Whitehall who is so menacing (and something of a lust object by the women) co-starring with David Duchovny in the streaming thriller MALICE.

From George,
I had taken potassium supplements in the past, but at some point my doctor told me that my potassium was too high and wondered why. I told her that I was taking a supplement, and she said that I didn't need to, so I stopped.
Interesting. Without the supplements is your potassium still good?

I've been busy digitizing my concert and show programs, tossing out all the ads and anything that isn't a list of the program, time and location, or the performers. This way I should be able to file more of them away. Maybe eventually I'll toss the remaining paper, but not yet.
-
Anyway, I thought I'd never seen Robert Yacko live and in person since he's based in LA and I'm not.
-
But as I was scanning in the Fiddler program from the national tour in 1980 with Herschel Bernardi, there he was as the last villager. So I have seen him in person, albeit a while ago.
-
I did remember correctly that the first show I saw on Broadway was The Wiz back in 1978.
-
It's fun going back, seeing both the shows I remember and those I don't.
-
TOD: Can we do radio commercials, including fake ones? WBCN used to do all sorts of comedy and had some great fake ads.
-
My favorite was during one of the elections - a very quick 5- or 10-second thing:
"Nobody in Massachusetts uses turn signals and nobody's gonna make us. Vote no, Question 4, mandatory turn signals."
I may not have that exactly right because unlike the next one, I can't find a recording of this on YouTube.
-
Here's the other favorite fake radio ad. Of course on the radio, all the F-words at the end were bleeped out. I think the bleeped version is even funnier but I couldn't find that online:

Ah - I turned on TCM and Metropolitan was starting.
I hadn't seen it in a long time - so I watched it.
I still like it.

The set is almost half up already, a first for the Group Rep. In fact, the entire set will be up by tomorrow. So, when we're back on the second, we'll be spending some time getting used to doing the show on our set.

I didn't see anything at Gelson's that seemed fun for my light meal. So, I'll either make some tuna, although I don't really want to do that because I'll be eating a LOT of tuna pasta salad, nor do I want to have dirty dishes.

So, maybe I'll bring in a sandwich.

I used Calgon when we didn't have water softeners.

I did not expect it to rain while we walked & did not wear a raincoat. Now my clothes are drying.

Keith got Wordle in four.

I think I got Wordle in four, also.

I use the same three words every time to find and/or rule out the common letters. I usually guess it after that.

We are expecting rain on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

After I do Wordle, I watch a guy play it on Youtube. We use completely different strategies.

That is interesting. Keith looks up the stats on the word. I don't think he has ever watched anyone play it.

I asked Keith. He said after he plays he goes to Tom's Wordle. He started to show me and stopped quickly as it is already Dec. 23rd wherever Tom is.

I had a three day burst of energy, probably due to a combination of chocolate and panick of all I needed to acomplish. I even got up early this morning to get things done, including writing and mailing my last three Christmas cards. I really did not want to do these cards as they are sad.
Now I have crashed and I still have much to do. If I sleep tonight maybe it will return tomorrow.

I did not expect it to rain while we walked & did not wear a raincoat. Now my clothes are drying.
Calgon, take me away!

I love the Stan Freberg/Ann Miller soup commercial. I love the We've Only Just Begun commercial. There was a acne or skin problem commercial I loved that had a song called It Won't Hurt to Try It - they tried like the dickens to get it to be a hit, but it didn't work. Several singles were released, sung by Tony Scotti, Jim Nabors, Tim Morgan, Brit Georgie Fame, and my actor friend Michael Burns - in fact, he gave me the single of his version. It's a really pretty song and some of the arrangements are lovely. I have all the versions in my music folder, although I keep searching for more and more importantly, I keep searching for the actual commercial with no luck.
-
Listening to the Georgie Fame version.
-
Back from Christmas dinner with friends.
-
We decided to graze tonight. 27 small dishes. Quite wonderful.
-
I brought quick pickled carrots, a radish dip, crostini with pork tenderloin and pimento cheese on top under the broiler, spiced almonds, crudités and more.
-
They provided beef tenderloin, pork belly, plenty of garden-grown veggies like cucumber and radishes, homemade bread and more.
-
And wine, of course. A brunello and a barolo.
-
Yesterday morning we took the 953 into Penn and arrived just before 11.
-
We knew the holiday train started at 2nd and Houston at 12 so we walked over yo Herakd Square to take the downtown F to 2nd .
-
Much to our delight and surprise the train that showed up was the holiday train!
-
So we rode it down to 2nd and then up to 96th and then back to Houston
-
There were quite a few people who were dressed in 1930's fashions.
-
It was quite a lot of fun.
-
Everyone was chatting and admiring those who dressed up.
-
When we were back in the East Village we walked over to my favorite Ukranian restaurant, Veselka.
-
It was Vixdads first visit and he enjoyed it very much .
-
After lunch we walked up to Union Square and wandered through the stalls at the Christmas market
-
Then we grabbed a subway uptown and went to Rockerfeller Center to see the tree
-
Then we strolled back the subway and rode up to 42nd Street .
-
We had a while before the show, and it was getting nippy so we went to the Brooklyn Diner for dessert
-
We had a lovely waitress and we ended up chatting with the folks at the neighboring tables
-
Finally we wandered down the block to Town Hall.
-
We arrived just after doors opened and the crowds had not yet arrived sold were able to peruse the merchandise table at our leisure.
-
We had second row orchestra seats, I had tried for first row but they weren't available
-
It turned out they hadn't sold front row on that side of the theatre so we were essentially in the first row
-
It was a fun Christmas show, and included some audience singalongs of Christmas hymns.
-
It was a lovely day and it raised my spirits immensely
-
To make the day complete we walked to the subway and arrived on thd platform just as our train was arriving
-
When we got to Penn our train home was already on the track and we walked into a nearly empty car and snagged a plum seat.
-
A perfect day all in all
-
Watching a movie, but cramping is ridiculous tonight. I have no idea how I'll write the notes if this continues.
-
What a night, Vixmom! Made me nostalgic.
-
Sounds like a wonderful time, DR vixmom.
-
Cramping-be-gone vibes for bk!
-
Today, we both have separate errands to run, then we're going over to Margo's house to help decorate her Christmas tree, and then Shelly and I (and maybe Margo) are going to the free annual Messiah Sing-Along downtown at the Washington Center. :)
Well, Shelly and I helped Margo with her tree. :)
-
It was a tree that Margo and her middle daughter cut themselves.
-
It's only about 5 feet tall, but it's pretty full and is nice green color.
-
The problem is that that Margo's tree stand is too big for the smallish diameter of the tree trunk. :-\
-
We put it in the stand, but the screws to hold it up can't get tight enough around the bottom of the trunk.
-
Shelly got all the lights on the tree, but it tilted, so I sort of leaned it against Margo's couch so that it wouldn't fall into the front window.
-
She just needs to get a tree stand for a smaller tree, then it'll be fine.
-
After that, Shelly and I went to the local Applebee's for dinner before the sing-along downtown.
-
I had the Chicken Wonton Tacos appetizer) and they were quite tasty as usual, AND they were half price because we were there within their three-hour Happy Hour. :)
-
The Messiah Sing-Along was quite full of audience members!
-
I couldn't find my copy of the score in time, so we sat up in the mezzanine (which is the second balcony of three at the WCPA):
-
It was a free event and general admission, so we could sit anywhere seats were available, and the very back row of the mezzanine was where we ended up.
-
What was cool is that we sat next to a couple, and the guy turned out to be Devon, who was in the play Incorruptible that I stage managed last year! What a coinkydink! ;D

I've seen them.

I've read them.
