Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a hint of pink, and now it is time for you to post until the pink cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHARISMA!

Congrats, BK, for receiving the most important of the important envelopes!
-
Well, this is an interesting video about the recent 4K restoration of Eyes Wide Shut:
when the restoration "ruins" the film (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5aFWmciA8S8)
-
I've never seen it, so I won't comment, but the video is pretty interesting, and he brings up some interesting restoration issues in general.
-
And a Happy Birthday to (former) DR DakotaCelt!
-
BK, good news about the arrival of the most important of the important envelopes!
-
And a Happy Birthday to (former) DR DakotaCelt!
Happy birthday to DakotaCelt, if you're reading HHW today!
-
Good morning, all!
-
The heat in this apartment is ridiculous. Yesterday I turned off the radiator, and that did no good at all. Lasy week we had no heat and froze. Go figure.
-
I slept very poorly because of the heat. Around 12:30 I woke, thinking I'd better get to the bathroom fast.
i made it, was sick, which hasn't happened in some time, and got back to bed a little past 1:00. I slept fitfully with three cats and no blankets until the alarm rang at 4:30.
-
Joshie is getting anxious about Encores! deadlines, so I must get a bath and get to work.
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today, a few errands must be run, and some neatening up of the house must be accomplished.
-
Good morning, friends.

I do not belong to the school that believes everything Kubrick directed is a masterpiece, and this film is at the top of evidence list as proof. But I will say that the film I saw looks more like the Criterion version than the one in the video. That said, there are overzealous correctors out there.
Eric Rohmer’s The Marquise of O was like an impressionistic painting on the big screen. The “corrected” DVD makes everything naturalistic, which partially ruins the film. The classic tale of a soldier who drugs his beloved, then has sex with her is a little too Bill Cosby for today.

I've been very lazy lately. Well, not really. Yesterday I tidied up and decluttered a couple of rooms. But I have not gone for a walk in a few days.

Notes cheesed. Parmesan’d.

Creme anglaise
Hard sauce, which isn’t really a sauce
Marinara

Definitely a bit of lethargy here too.

Very lazy here.

From DR Jrand,
DR JANE that is a LOT of books.
I have read more in previous years, and DR John reads more books than I do.
-
I hope DR JANE is doing better.
-
I just marked a book unfinished on Goodreads. It gave me credit for the book in my official book challenge, yet didn't change the number of books read on my stats page. It is all very odd.
I could pull it off of my challenge page as read, but I suppose two half read books equals one read book ;D
-
It is 19 degrees with feel on 15 degrees here.
-
I like a day when I don't have much or anything to do.
-
The lunch MR BK describes in the notes made me hungry.
-
DR Jrand I watched YOU'RE A BIG BOY NOW many times as it was playing at the Bruin Theater when I worked there.

DR George, thank you for the good vibes. The odds are the pain will never be gone, I just don't want it bad enough that I have to increase my meds. I can deal with the pain, it is my vision I worry about. I like being able to see.
-
From DR George,
I love that movie! And it was directed by Bonnie Hunt. I really enjoyed her (sadly, short-lived) talk show and sitcom.
I forgot that she co-wrote and directed Return to Me. I always enjoy her.
-
DR John, aside from the punctuation, do you like Loving by Henry Green? It looks like a book I might enjoy.
-
George, do eBooks still bother you at times? I still have issues with them at times.

Good feeling and keep seeing vibes to Jane!

Thank you.

Yes. I am.
I added it to my wishlist since I already have two books checked out at the library. I'm finally reading My Friends. It is a good book to end the year with, and maybe beging the new years if I don't finish it before then.

Just go for a short walk.
I did, and I found a purse dumped on the side of the bike path. Probably stolen and dumped. A police officer just picked it up.
-
It is good you went for a walk today.
Was the wallet still in there? When Keith's wallet was stolen we wondered why they didn't simply take the money and leave the rest.
-
I went to my Goodreads stats and removed the books I don't want counted in my books read and pages read. Now I can't open any books in Goodreads. All I get is "Sorry, we couldn’t find the page you were looking for.
It may have moved or the web address you entered was incorrect. Visit our Help Section or Home Page for a fresh start." >:(
-
I looked briefly for ID. But I'll let the police take care of it.
-
I'm just worrying that someone is visiting and won't have necessary ID to fly home.
-
George, do eBooks still bother you at times? I still have issues with them at times.
I don't have any trouble with ebooks. It's just that I don't love reading them on tablets because of the glare.

Very interesting that MR BK & Peter Kastner and his wife were friends.
I was thinking they were making the rounds and doing stuff at the same time so their paths may have crossed.

Interesting DR JANE.
Did the movie seem to be a hit. Did audiences like it?
Oh yes, it had a busy first run at the theater. We loved it.

We went for a walk and when we returned my Goodreads books had also returned.

My stats are still off even though the books I intentionally removed are gone.

In answer to Jane’s earlier post about books this year, I read 190 in 2025. Well, 191 if you count the one I wrote.
-
I’m knee-deep into one I might finish by tomorrow night: the new Hercule Poirot mystery, The Last Death of the Year. It’s fun, takes place on a Greek isle.

I think you can count the one you wrote.

My Goodreads numbers are now in sync. I did not like them being out of sync. All my previous years are also good, except for last year. I didn't notice the two book discrepancy.

Now, it says, they are still in transit, and FedEx is working hard to get me a new delivery date.

What the heck?

We are working the whole day tomorrow - no early dismissal - because for many folks in certain situations, tomorrow is the last day to enroll and still get health insurance coverage starting 1/1/26.

You would think with something that crucial, people wouldn't wait until the very last millisecond.
-
But you would be wrong.
-
It snowed here today.

More snow starting overnight and until 2:00pm or so tomorrow.
-
I'm glad I don't have to go out.

It's already very hard to stop at intersections.

What the HELL kind of day was this?
-
I haven't stopped.
-
Eight hours of sleep.
-
Lots of e-mails to deal with.
-
Lunch meeting that went two hours.
-
The Gelson's run.
-
Get home and I've got a ton of stuff about the play - I'm expected to do everything - not just direct, make lists, get people this and that. Had they had an assistant for me none of this would be an issue.
-
So, that.
-
Then listening to the mixes one last time in album order. I think the order works well, actually, so I'll lock that. There were five little nitpicks on the mixes - shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes to do. He had to go out, but will do them later tonight. Once I hear those, then that part's done.
-
Then Doug sent me his ideas for the album cover - none of them really spoke to me - not bad, but not magical, which is what I want. He went ballistic as he does. Once he does something, he doesn't ever want to do anything else, and that is NOT how it works. Of course, he threatens and says find someone else, and then I have to go to the bad BK place because in the thirty years we've been doing this, I think that maybe there have been three instances where I've asked for more options. THREE. And he pulled this same crap back then. I don't think I've had any issues for the past twelve YEARS, and yet I get this crap. And he doesn't want to use my title - The Sherman Brothers Album - well, that's what it was going to be called in 2001 and it's part of a LONG series of albums with that title - I counted at least twelve - The Stephen Sondheim Album, The Kander and Ebb Album, The Alan Menken Album, The Ira Gershwin Album, The MGM Album, The Paul Simon Album, The Burt Bacharach Album, The Michel Legrand Album, well, you get the idea. It's such a pain sometimes. We'll see what happens.
-
I haven't stopped since I got up.
-
And I need to sit down and relax now.
-
Obviously no movie.
-
I have no idea who this person is.
I hope you think he is funny.
Dreadful.
-
And the second show is wrapping up.
-
That video about Eyes Wide Shut if filled with so much silly information it's not even funny. First of all, it's not "restored" - there was nothing to "restore" - the negative is fine. They just color timed it with the cameraman of the film. I'll take his word for it. Mr. Kubrick did not supervise the theatrical release of the film as he was quite dead at the time. And those were the worst release prints I've ever seen in a theater.
-
Why are we on page five?
