Good morning, all!

Another bad night of sleep. I wish to hell the temperatures would drop down to freezing again.
-
Annabelle and Thatch are quite rowdy this morning, wrestling amd romping all over the apartment. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I think Stella is under the weather.
-
I have passed the halfway mark in "Faster than sound. My goal is to finish it today.

Health vibes for Stella.

Finishing the hat vibes for DR ELMORE.

I drove many family cars for a few years, but then I bought my first owned car. A lovely 1968 Rambler American....two door sedan.....six cylinder automatic....and vacuum wipers which were annoying.
This one is even the same color as mine.

Jrand, did you know Rocky Horror Show is coming back to Broadway in spring 2026?

I have always counted my first family hand-me-down as my first car: Like DR Jrand75's first purchase, it was a Rambler American! This one was a 1964. It was handed down to me in the summer of 1968, and I drove it from Fort Lauderdale to Cleveland for my second year at school. I haven't found the color online, but it was kind of a light mint green.
Jumping ahead a bunch of years, the first new car I purchased was a 1980 Datsun 210, bought at Miller Datsun in Van Nuys, CA. That car transported me through a couple of Los Angeles lives and a Schaumburg, IL life, until 1987 when it was replaced by my beloved Nissan 200-SX.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
The first car I bought for myself was a 1986 Honda Civic.
-
It was a 2-door, with NO air conditioning.

Do they even sell cars anymore with NO air conditioning?

What do we know about Sam Pinkleton and Luke Evans?
Sam Pinkleton is the Tony-winning director of "Oh, Mary!" among other shows.
Luke Evans has quite an impressive bio, per his Wikipedia page.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Evans
-
AH.....thanks. It might be a must see!
I loved Oh Mary!
It has the funniest reveal I have ever seen in a show....and I'm old.
-
Meat loaf and potatoes are resting.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep and I did manage two new pages before bed.
-
DR Singdaw, LOL regarding the pimple popper show.
-
DR Laura, I'm glad they fixed the brakes before they became a problem.
-
DR George, I liked the page six candle dance last night.

From Bruce,
Never got to post because the iPhone did an update overnight and nuked my ten o'clock alarm - luckily, I woke up at eleven-twenty and was out the door by eleven-forty and got to the theater just in time.
Wow, you would expect the phone to be the safest alarm to set. I use Alexa with Keith's phone as a backup if we must get up. My third back up is my clock on my end table.

My first car was an old AMC Hornet station wagon I begged my dad to help me get for $200 from a car dealer on Buford Highway in Duluth, GA.
-
Thus began a streak of lemons and catastrophes. I was onto my 5th car 2 years later. But that one, a burnt orange Mercury Capri, lasted me until the day I moved to NYC in 1996.
-
In between were a 1967 Olds 98. Biggest car in history, immaculate inside but with a dent about 2 feet long on the side.
Pontiac J-2000 that died on my way to Ole Miss to start college.
Plymouth Horizon, totaled by someone running a red light into me.
I enjoyed not having a car for my 20 years in NY.
-
My first car, around 1966, was a green Volkswagon bug. I loved it. It was a family hand-me-down. My second car- I cannot remember now its manufacture, but I believe it was a Ford - was a used car sitting in the field of one of my dad's country-living friends. The owner had written of the side of the car in water color paint "For sale Fast Green Roadster," and when I washed the car, I discovered the paint had faded enough that the orifinal color was preserved under the water color, so while I was in grad school, everyone knew I owned a "Fast Green Roadster." The theatre students found this very funny.
-
Here's a local TV news update on the repairs at Lick Observatory with my friend Elinor Gates. We've sung several shows together, most notably a semi-staged production of Sousa's El Capitan, where she was Isabel and I was Pozzo.

Thanks! She was lying next to me while I worked, and she just jumped into her dinner, but she seems a bit subdued today.

Interesting DR MICHAELG.
-
I think we can get to page 3 before 3 pm (Eastern).
-
We did! PAGE THREE!
-
I first car was an Olds Cutlass, the one I learned to drive on. It was likely the first year the Cutlass came out in 1961.
-
My first car was an Oldsmobile Cutlass with a white body and blue top. My sister Linda gave it to my sister Annaliese and me. We were both at the University of Kentucky. Parking was free at the stadium, except during football games. Annaliese didn’t drive st the time. I drove that car to death.
-
I can’t remember the year. Likely a 1970 or somewhere around there.
-
My second car was a convertable maroon Dodge Polara. My father had a patient who sold used cars and said it was a great car, so my father surprised me with it. I think it was a 1966 and I got it in 1969.
My father just called me one day and said to take my car to the dealership and to pick up the new car. Keith loved the new cool car ;D
-
I have been making a low-carb beef stew. It has taken hours.

Mine was all the same color, a light blue.
-
Keith didn't need a car before we were married as his mother rarely drove and he was almost always able to use her car.
-
Our first car purchase together was a Ford Torino. It was also our first new car. We took his parents with us and his father gave us a lesson in negogiating. We got the car at Town and Country Ford in Reseda. It was maybe in 1970 or '71.

Saturday afternoon greetings! I was outta here at 9:30 this morning for a meeting in Middletown that went on forever. Drove home in the rain, ate lunch, and took a nap.
-
SKI PARTY (1965) on TCM at 10:00 eastern tonight.
-

DR Rodzinski, my first car was also a Hornet, bought new in Michigan for my big career move to Ohio. It was cream colored sedan with no air conditioning, which might have been OK in Michigan, but it’s a lot more humid here. As soon as I could afford it, I bought a Buick Skylark with AC.
-
I am enjoying the posts about everyone's cars!
-
I used the Kinder's meat loaf seasoning pack. Very good.
I had been using the Kinder's Buttery Steakhouse seasoning and like it, so I thought i would give it a try.

The memorial service this morning was beautiful, and my work colleague appreciated my being there. I don't know if she realized that I forfeited about $300 in overtime pay to be there, as I was scheduled to work today.
-
It was in a Roman Catholic church. It was an extremely beautiful and modern church, less than 20 years old. All marble and glass and nicely designed.
-
The male cantor had a very nice voice. No one in the congregations sang on the hymns. They don't provide hymnals in the pews.
-
We stayed for a lunch afterward. The "undercroft," in this case, is not underground and the space was flooded with light.
-
Soon will be en route to the benefit concert. I am bringing my jazz hands, and will be sure to post a full repor later.
-
I had planned to make more cookies this afternoon, but I wasn't in the mood.
-
I am, however, in the mood for meatloaf.
-
Good afternoon.
-
No rant today. Everything went smoothly.
-
Sitting at the gate, waiting to board my flight home.

Keith got Wordle in three.

Safe and smooth travels, Laura!

DR Laura I hope you weren't too cold when you returned home.
-
I put on the jacket I carried around all day.
-
Back from the cue to cue, pizza, then run-through with sound and lights. The latter went very well, lights-wise, but sound has many fixes to do, so hopefully that will get done tomorrow.
-
I got everyone out an hour early - wanted it to be two hours, but that was not to be.
-
Just ordered an Islands burger.
-
They always forget to include the special season salt for the fried - every single damn time - which is why I don't order from there more. This time, I thought I'd call and make sure they included that. Well, they're not answering the phone. Isn't that lovely. If the salt isn't there I will leave them a nasty little Yelp review.

I’ve been listening to a volume of true crime called She Kills, a collection of Texas Monthly articles about female criminals from the Lone Star State. It’s exceptionally well written. The stories are fascinating. Some are murderers, others are thieves, etc.
-
This particular article, however, has given me the best idea for a musical.
https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/girl-talk/
-
It’s about a group of women singers and musicians who made it big on radio around the time of WWII. They were in prison and featured on a show called 30 Minutes Behind the Wall. Screams to me something along the lines of Radio Gals or The 1940s Radio Hour.
-
Home from the concert. It was fun and a true grab-bag of musical theatre genres.
-
My roomba just beat me to a Cheeto that I dropped on the floor.
This is how the war against machines begins.
-
I didn't realize you were flying, DR Laura. Don't you usually drive?
-
I guess it's too late for ~~~SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~
-
DR singdaw your repor was most interesting. I am sure your attendance was most appreciated.
-
I am sorry that we will not hear a rant from DR LAURA.
-
Glad to hear that MR BK's rehearsal went well.
-
I watched the finals of the men's free skate....and then I watched the final part of SKI PARTY as we were reminded by DR CHAS SMITH.
I shall reserve my comments.

Topic of the Day: my first car was an orange 1976 Volkswagen Super Beetle that looked like this (but the hub caps weren't this sporty):
-
My parents bought it for me in 1984 so that I could go to college in Centralia and work. I only had it for less than 10 years (I forget exactly how long I had it) because I didn't take care of it. ::)
-
Big regret.
-
After that, I got a 1989 Subaru Just with a switch on the stick shift for four-wheel drive on the fly. I had it until 1998 because I didn't take care of it. :-\
-
But then I got my brand new 1998 Ford Escort and had that for 24 years. I took care of that one. :)
-
And now, I have another Subaru, an Impreza hatchback (aka "5 door"), with the sport trim and it came with a CD player!
-
I plan to keep this as long as I can.
-
...even though it has an automatic transmission. ::)

It's the first automatic that I've owned.
