Well, you've read the notes, the notes didn't have a day off, and now it is time for you to post until the day off cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CELERITY!

~~~Continued Vibes for a Modern Major Miracle!!~~~
-
Ten pages done. Whew!
-
And now to bed.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Apparently I was logged in all night, and never said "Good Night."
-
(last night)
-
I've got two (count 'em, two!) medical appointments today. Better get hopping.
-
Thanks so much for posting that Met Opera link last night, DR George!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very badly, even with two Tylenol PM tablets. Annabelle tolerated my restlessness and stayed with me the entire night. Thatch and Stella stayed until my restlessness drove them up the wall.
-
My last attempt to have a bath was rather precarious: I slipped and nearly fell, the rack I hold onto while I'm getting my legs over the edge of the tub did not want to remain steady. I emerged from the bath terrified. Well, today I have to undergo the process again, and I am very concerned about falls. I could use a lot of vibes.
-
DR George, if that egg salad is more than three-four days old, I would approach it with caution. About ten years ago, on - I believe - the CBS News, a food person gave a short Thanksgiving lecture on Thanksgiving leftovers and how long to keep them in the fridge. Then she went on to talk about items like ytna salad and other items. It was rather scary,
Sending those vibes, Larry! So relieved you're OK.
Vibes for DR ELMORE!
-
Wonderful writing news from MR BK.
-
It is 37 degreess with a real feel of 31 degrees.
It is supposed to stay on the warmer side until Saturday....then more single digit temps.
-
Since I am up, I am going to the getting place.
Not much to get.....but that's okay.
-
I got Wordle in 3 yesterday, so I may try again today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept pretty much okay, but man, I need to learn some proper stretching exercises for morning. Oy!
-
Friends, countrymen, lurkers...
Does anyone have piano/vocal sheet music for the song "All the Things You Are" by Kern & Hammerstein?
Thank you!
Not exactly the same, but we're expecting an Amazon Fresh order this morning.
-
Awaiting the text that they have everything ordered in stock, and can then know what lunch will be accordingly. Some days, knowing what lunch will be makes a difference.
Planning out the day's calories feels productive, even though often violating that calorie count by the end of the day.
Good morning.
Soooo, a caesar salad without the dressing is ... romaine lettuce and a few croutons?
-
Good morning, all.
-
In spite of wearing a mask at the airport and on the planes, I have picked up a virus somewhere. So I'm taking it easy today. It seems to be an old-fashioned cold.
-
Two!
-
Slept well. Would love more sleep. But I have a busy morning ahead of me.
-
George, we’re both enjoying the book, which is a dystopian thriller.
Sending feel-better vibes.
Feel better, Laura.
And vibes for all of us.
And vibes for all of us.
Yes, vibes for all of us as needed!
-
Feel better vibes for DR LAURA.
-
I'm fine. It's just a cold. I hope I didn't expose anyone at church, though. I tried to be careful.
-
I only spent $75 at the getting place.
AND Dollar (25) Tree had aluminum cookie sheets back in stock for $1.25, so I bought two - since they are $9 at WalMart.
I also decided to try the Best Value Frozen Cheese Ravioli....though it will be awhile before I make it.
-
DR FREDDIE vibes that you get your first choices!
-
Success! Those vibes must have worked because this was one of my easiest baths since my afflictions began. My supports were solid and I had no slips or falls. Thank you!
-
DR Laura, I'm so sorry about the virus. I hope it's no Big Ass virus and that you are feeling spry very soon.
-
I'm glad you had a successful bath, Elmore. I do wish you had a walk-in shower. Bathtubs scare me. Even at my age.
-
I do wish we could get immunizations for the common cold.
-
DR FREDDIE vibes that you get your first choices!
Yes, we got all the first choices.
even the Rao's frozen lasagna, which they seem to have so rarely, so I ordered three of them - and got all three.
Those are the absolute worst. What in the HELL are they thinking?
-
Thank you, Elmore, for the egg salad info. I tried mine this morning. It’s very good, but next time, I will use dill pickle relish instead of fresh dill. I like the texture it brings, and the flavor is a little more prominent.
-
I’m on hold and the hold message is repeated three times each minute. Argh!!!!
That needs coping vibes, so sending them.
After about 8 minutes, it sent me to leave a message. I will never hear back from them.
Good news DR FREDDIE.
-
DR CHAS SMITH I have checked my music and books and I do not have a copy of that song - sorry.
-
Now when someone mentions being on hold - I think about Leonardo DiCaprio in OBAA when he can't remember the answer to a question when he is trying to get in contact with the terrorist organization he had been a member of......
He finally demands to speak to the manager and he is put on hold and music plays....his reactions are priceless.
Got my new health insurance set to start Feb. 1. It’s the same company as the old insurance. But it’s a little less per month.
Let’s move on.
Good news DR FREDDIE.
Sometimes the little things are very satisfying!
Helps to deal with times when big things go wrong.
We had a little rain this morning. Unexpected, but welcome.
Whoa, that sounds like fun. Now I really want to see it.
From DR Singdaw,
They are doing pretty well and are all independent now. But there are dependability/attendance issues. That seems to be the way with young folks nowadays.
I haven't been out unplanned in over 8 years.
I hope it is because you are simply smarter than they and not the future of the younger generation.
-
DR John, I have been undecided if I want to read Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy. I look forward to hearing what you and your sister think of it.
-
From DR Rodzinski,
Where I live is right near the ferry terminal. On a calm day on the ferry, you won’t even know you’re on a boat.
I will mention this to Keith. What about windy days?
Sorry. I guess you picked it up when you weren't wearing a mask.
-
George, we’re both enjoying the book, which is a dystopian thriller.
I put a hold on it at my library.
-
I'm fine. It's just a cold. I hope I didn't expose anyone at church, though. I tried to be careful.
Hopefully a short cold and you feel better quikly.
I do wish we could get immunizations for the common cold.
That would be wonderful.
Indeed DR FREDDIE.
I hate that.
Yes DR CHAS SMITH once you get past the first 15 minutes - it's golden. But the set up is needed.
Got my new health insurance set to start Feb. 1. It’s the same company as the old insurance. But it’s a little less per month.
Less money is very good.
One of my most favorite things about HHW is that i get to be friends with such wonderful folks that I otherwise would NEVER even be in contact with.
Beginning with MR BK.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
Social Security did NOT arrive. Last month it arrived on the ninth. It all depends on where the tenth falls, I think. Hopefully tomorrow or there will be major hell toupee.
-
Now to futz and finesse.
-
Social Security did NOT arrive. Last month it arrived on the ninth. It all depends on where the tenth falls, I think. Hopefully tomorrow or there will be major hell toupee.
Mine has always arrived in my bank account on the second Wednesday of every month. Mine has never depended on the date.
-
Mine's the third Wednesday, as I believe DR Elmore's is, regardless of the date. Never been a lapse (knock wood).
-
SS vibes for MR BK.
-
I always get mine on the 3rd of the month for some reason.
And the January payment will include your COL increase.
-
As I was going to the getting place this morning there were MANY lovely jet streams in the sky.
-
Today is Tuesday.
The Pair of Keets do NOT like the dried strawberry additions to their treat bowls.
I guess I need to play some MUSIC YouTube videos to get them excited.
Well they liked Lucky Lips by Gale Storm but they LOVE Im Ein Rossll.....introduced to me to DR ELMORE.
Maybe strawberry is "in" these days, at least here on HHW. Amazon Fresh offered (and I bought) strawberry coffee creamer, which I'd never seen before. It sounded like it might be exotic to have strawberry flavor in the coffee. It's just very tasty without being exotic at all.
-
The Pair of Keets just voted Jane and Bing as the BEST.
Strawberry is TOPS.
The pair of keets love it!
-
Futzed and finessed close to twenty-five pages, started a new chapter, and now waiting for sandwich to arrive.
-
Thanks DR FREDDIE I appreciate that comment from someone who knows!
-
Twenty five pages!
Congrats to MR BK!
-
And it's only Tuesday!
Here's what I don't understand about Caesar Salad. I thought the whole idea of a Caesar Salad was that getting one was an event. They started with the egg and added the fish part and whisked that around and created the dressing in front of you. And they added the rest. It was event.
-
But maybe I'm wrong.
-
But I'm pretty sure I'm right.
-
And this is pretty much the only thing I want my mind to be filled with these days. Dumb stuff. Because the world *should* be at peace.
-
DR LAURA you are correct.
-
The Pair of Keets do NOT like the dried strawberry additions to their treat bowls.
What dried fruit do they like?
Mine always lands via direct deposit on the third Wednesday of the month.
An event yes, in the same way that guacamole is made at the table. A good Caesar Salad is delicious, IMHO. It just isn't the healthiest of salads.
DR George, additional thanks for the link to the MET Gala for Rudolf Bing.
I watched it live at a friend's house somewhere in Cleveland Heights, and bought the Deutsche Grammophon LP as soon as it was issued. Yes, I still have it.
It's amazing to think that the telecast was never preserved in any professional way, and I believe this version, while close, is still not complete. But how great to see and hear those incredible singers who [a few of us of a certain age] knew and took for granted.
This is an interesting article.
I have another silly "does anyone have this?" music question, and I know it's a long shot.
Here's a Sinatra/Basie arrangement of "I Only Have Eyes For You":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjkN7SY_A1o
Is there any chance in HELL that a transcription of this arrangement exists? I don't care if it's ridiculously complex or simplified sheet music, as long as it more or less captures this arrangement. Anything will be of help. Otherwise, I'll be stumbling my way through approximating it myself, and that may not be a pretty sight.
-
Wow, 5 pages so far and I didn't see any answers to the TOD. I can start...
-
First ice cream was probably chocolate ice cream at Howard Johnson's. They had 28 flavors before Baskin-Robbins 3-upped them with 31.
-
Although when Baskin-Robbins unveiled 32nd Flavor, that became my favorite for a while. A Heath bar / toffee kind of flavor, if I recall correctly.
