Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of being hacked, and now it is time for you to post until the hacked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BOUFFAGE!
-
Hi, all!

Here it is. Congrats!

I was debating which word would be my fourth guess, but I should've picked the other word which was my fifth and correct guess. ::)
-
Oh, well...at least I got it. :)
-
Iris sent me the review. Not sure why the theater hadn't sent it out but I intend to find out. It's a wonderful rave and she really "got" the show.
-
Twelve pages and now to bed.
-
Having trouble falling asleep, so I wrote a couple more pages. Why not?

Congratulations, BK, on that great review!
-
And terrific to see Iris posting this morning!
-
Having trouble falling asleep, so I wrote a couple more pages. Why not?
BK, you're at post #163,910. You might hit a new record-breaking Millstone tomorrow, if not today.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Iris! Hello, Gorgeous! It's so nice to find you here, however brief it was. And thanks for the review!
-
Niw, I've got to find the time to read the bad review from two days ago. My all-time favorite bad review - and during my friend John Simon's reign of terror there were a lot of them - came in the New York Times 1935 review of the Cole Porter-Moss Hart musical Jubilee, which said thast the song "Begin thed Beguine" was just another rhumba. Since I've worked with BK as a director, I trust this positive review, and I want to see what bothered the writer of the bad review.
-
I am looking forward to Jack Smith's appearance before Congress today.
-
TOD: I'm pretty sure my first hot dogs were made at home by my parents, and that had to be before we moved in 1970 from Flatbush to Luna Park (which was between Brighton Beach and Coney Island). Once we lived near Coney Island, Nathan's hot dogs were nearby and extremely delicious.
Our Yeshivah cafeteria also made wonderful franks in a blanket, and being a Yeshivah, that had to be a kosher brand of hot dogs.
-
DR singdaw, I loved the northern lights photo. I still think NATO needs to find a good hitman. I'm surprised several groups in the USA haven;t done that already.
-
TOD
Best hot dogs ever were the legendary ones at the Liberty restaurant in Middletown, Ohio. I am not crazy about hot dogs, but I don't recall any disasters.
-
IRIS!! Thanks for posting the terrific review!
-
And the notes are back in their proper place!
I did have to clear my cache......control-shift-delete took care of that.
-
Before I started school....probably even before my first sister was born....our parents would take my brother and me to downtown Mooresville where a diner had a bar and stools.
right behind the bar on the corner was a hot dog machine. The hot dogs were stuck on spikes and went around and around.
I loved getting a hot dog with mustard and/or chili sauce.
-
The clerk would hold the bun in her hand and then grab a dog as it spun!
Food AND entertainment!

Greetings to the much missed DR DR Iris! And thank you for the link!
-
LOL DR ELMORE.

My county is under a winter storm watch.
-
Page Two page turn.
-
Yesterday I asked my brother Kent for a favor.
He came by and took the old five year old battery out of Petey the PT Cruiser....took it over to AutoZone and bought a new three-year battery for $204.
He then put it back into Petey and now once again I have TWO cars!
-
Good morning, all.
-
It is now 20 degrees with feels like of 18 degrees and temps headed down to 5 degrees before morning.
-
Hugs and vibes for Iris!
-
And SN*W for Friday and Saturday.
-
What a review, BK!
-
I made some fried chicken and salsa corn for lunch for my brother yesterday. - my sister Paula will be by today and we shall consume the rest with gusto and wine.
-
I think it's timely that just yesterday it was announced that Nathan's Famous (which I believe includes the flagship location in Coney Island plus all other Nathan's outlets) has been SOLD for over $400 million. If its new owner, Smithfield Foods, touches so much as a hair on the Coney Island site, it will be the end of civilization as we know it.
-
By the way, I don't know if DR singdaw or anyone else is aware of the latest disastrous news from Connecticut. As of last week, maybe two weeks ago, the Sycamore Drive-In IS NO MORE. It's unthinkable. The restaurant (or the lease to operate there, it's all kind of murky) was bought by the owner of another restaurant in Bethel, and the makeover has begun. There are a lot of details to unpack, but America has lost one of its primo mid-century food spots that still had car hop service, home to the most delicious "smash burgers" for half a century before anyone invented the term. And the most delicious homemade root beer. All of it. Gone. Just like that.
-
We're under that storm watch, too. And the freeze that accompanies it. Our local guy just pointed out how that storm's projected mass reaches from Arizona to New England.
-
Hugs and vibes for Iris!
Ditto!

:) a/k/a going out for dinner and a show

Coincidentally (like, a day or two before the news broke), I bought an 8-pack of Nathan's "bun size" hot dogs, and, in a moment of insanity (these things happen), a package of what have to be the SHITTIEST hot dog buns ever created. Store brand. They hold up to, literally, nothing. They just manage to get a few bites of flavor up to my pie hole before disintegrating. Next time I'm going for whichever ones look to be the BEST. If I can find anything close to the Vienna poppy seed buns (cf. BK's reference to same), I'll get those. They may or may not be carried here, but I'll try.
-

I was not. That is so sad.
-
I hope Orem's Diner (Norwalk/Wilton line) is still going strong. They had the best split pea soup on Thursdays.
-
For commercial dogs, I've always preferred Nathan's. In a physical store. I don't know how the supermarket version stacks up.
-
Looking forward to the upgraded HHW.

So good to see ya, DR Iris!

They're going very strong as far as I can tell. Were you here when they moved some years ago to their newly designed building farther south on Route 7? It's a beauty, and I always see lots of cars in the parking lot.
The "greater Danbury" area has lost a couple of diners in the 30 35 years I've been here, but only one of which really mattered to me. As far as I know, New England (and NJ and NY) diners, bless their little souls, are still a strong viable institution.
-
That is sad DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Oh....and does Nathan's have hot dogs on a spinner?

Is it worth filling a page with the Oscar nominations?

We haven't watched Song Sung Blue yet.
-
The first episode of the new season (after a nine or ten year hiatus since season 1) of The Night Manager, starring Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Coleman, felt very chockfull of information. We're thinking we'll try watching episode 1 again before proceeding to episode 2.
-
Iris! Iris! So good to see you!
-
TOD: My DH is from Chicago. There is no discussion in this house. The best hot dogs in town are at a Chicago Hot Dog stand a few miles away. They are good.
-
That is good to hear, DR Laura.
It's a "thing" now for hot dog places around the U.S. to include a "Chicago STYLE" dog on their menu. But in all of the years since I lived in Chicago for one wonderful year, I've only known one (1) place to get it exactly right, and that was in Long Beach, CA called, I think, Mustard's or Mustard Something.
-
Sadly, our cholesterol levels do not allow us to partake of hot dogs often any more.
-
DR Kevin, thanks for the great to Keith.
-
DR Singdaw vibes for your 93 year old aunt. Extra vibes that her energy returns.
-
DR George, thanks for your congrats to Keith.

FromBruce,
Sometime in the next few days, we're going to take the discussion board off-line during the day for two hours, so they can do what they need to do to get us on a new server with great security.
YAY!
-
Watching the Jack Smith hearing. Some of these MAGA Rethuglicans like Brandon Gill and that Issa ass from California are like little rabid dogs. I would love to see them taken behind the barn and shot.
-
Hope you are all well and thriving.
Wishing a very Happy 2026 to everyone, albeit a bit late.

TOD: My first hot dog was probably from Howard Johnson's. My favorites are Detroit Coney Island. We grew up with Lafayette in our house but I had American for the first time last year and it was really good too. I'm heading back to Detroit in April, so I'll have to revisit Lafayette to see if my taste memory matches the current state of things.

That's right, totally shut out. And that was the only new 2025 film we saw this year. We wanted to see several others but they didn't play in theaters near us, or they did for one weekend when we were busy with other things.

I don’t know when my first hot dog was. I still eat them at Costco.
I love a ballpark dog with mustard and onion sauce. I also love a Chicago dog right down to the celery seed.
