For a hot minute during the 1990s, I was into the music of Michael Nyman. Except for 8 1/2 Women, Nyman wrote the soundtrack score for all the others that you mentioned.

I first heard of him from his one-act opera, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. I really like that one.
