Best test results vibes to DR OZDerek. I'm not sure what the history of the situation is, but I assume it must be pretty serious if transplants are in question. My thoughts are certainly with him and his. (Was that correct, grammatically speaking?)

DR FJL: Yes, you heard correctly - Harvey was talking about his mother's friends who had survived the holocaust when Midge and her co-anchor guy cut to commercial. Classy. BLT 3 was broadcast last night on NJ's PBS channel. It was fuzzy, but I saw it. I would have wet myself to be in the audience when Ms. Julie Andrews did her medley of Lerner & Lowe. Or when Ms. Ethel Merman did her medley. I'm lucky enough to say that I've seen Stritch, Chita and Carol Lawrence in my lifetime. I guess those are the only living legends I've really seen perform.

I know it's kind of white trash, but I had myself some Hamburger Helper for dinner tonight. It was really quite tasty. Tomorrow night I shall prepare some spicy chicken teriyaki stir-fry. YUM! Or I'll order Taco Bell since they deliver. But I'm running low on fundage, so I'll probably stick with the stir-fry.

I tried to find my favorite Ben & Jerry's flavors (Vanilla Caramel Fudge Swirl and Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch) at the supermarket tonight. They didn't have either one. So I got shortbread cookies instead. Not a healthy choice, but a tasty one!

I hate when that happens. Sometimes it seems that stores stock up on the "heavier" flavors: New York Super Fudge Chunk, Everything But The..., Phish Food, etc., and "ignore" the simpler flavors.

And other times it's the other way around.

*And I'm sort of ashamed to admit this, but I don't think I've ever tried any of Ben & Jerry's "plain" flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee, etc. However, i know I've tried their Strawberry a few times at the Strawberry Street Festival in Richmond.

Jose, they had every single thing you listed! All the "specialty" stuff. They also had a plethora of Karamel Sutra, which I'm a little afraid to try. They also had Brownie Batter, which is really good, but a little too rich for what I wanted tonight.

Honestly, I don't know if B&J makes "plain" flavors. I've never seen them, anyway.

DR Jason - I noticed a listing on Playbill.com for some touring production that MTI is putting together to promote their "Broadway, Jr." line. Sounds... interesting.

Ha! After seeing the new Admin Assistant for B'way Jr., "BJ On Tour" seems like it could be entirely appropriate. He's what most would call "yummy."

I don't quite understand what they're doing with this tour - they're using actors in their early 20's to portray middle school students in a show that involves songs from INTO THE WOODS JR, DEAR EDWINA JR and HONK JR, I think. Sounds like a winner to me. I could understand if it were a school tour, but they're also playing some legit tour houses for 3-7 day runs!

I'm a huge fan of caramel in ice cream, but I've never had caramel flavored ice cream. Does that make sense? If you say it's good, maybe I'll give it a try...

I've never had B&J's caramel ice cream, but I have had caramel ice cream. I can't imagine ever passing it up!

As I recall, it's vanilla ice cream with a caramel core and yummy chocolate in it. It's been a year since I had any, but I remember it's really really good.

There was a recipe in Cook's Illustrated a few months ago for a roast turkey - maybe chicken - which called for letting the bird sit in the fridge uncovered for a few days before cooking it. This was it helped to "manage" the moisture content in the skin - which would, in turn, help it to cook more evenly.

Is this what will happen to the duck?

The first couple of days are unmarinated, the third day a marinade is added.

The only real greats I never saw live were Merman, Martin, Drake and Rait and Mostel.

I have seen Channing, Andrews, Rivera, Orbach, Verdon on stage. I even went to shows that were not very good to see Bacall and when I liked her Minnelli

Just a word about Colin Farrell. I think he does one of the best Mid Atlantic American accents I've ever heard (first noticed how good it was in that Bruce Willis-HART'S WAR film). And I thought PHONE BOOTH was a tour de force triumph for him.

I didn't know fried chicken was even partial to corn on the cob. Learn something new every day.

We've been selling white corn like crazy all summer. Code is 4077, by the way, but it's a code we've all memorized since a number of people like to strip off the husks before buying them, and the husk would be where the little sticky tab would be located.

A week or so ago, when der B's daughter handed me a half dozen ears of cooked corn that she didn't want, I made der B and myself some nice corn fritters. So if anyone has left-over corn, there's an idea for what to do with them.

Not one any of the THREE local PBS stations here this weekend, but I'm sure it's coming. I had read a rundown of the clips a month or so ago, and was very disappointed that so much of it was fairly recent. If they're going to do stuff from the 1980s and beyond, why not "Muddy Water" or the DROOD excerpts. They were great!

Ginny, I too remember Ruth Lyons. It was a fixture at our house in the summer when my mother wasn't teaching. And was always on at both Grandmothers' houses. I also remember Bob Braun, Paul Dixon, and Midwestern Hayride. Actually, my guitar teacher occasionally subbed in the on-air band Ruth had. Imagine that! A local TV show that had an on-air band. Them was the days! Two other Cincy broadcasting fixtures, Len Goorian and Bill Nimmo currently do broadcasting chores on my favourite internet radio station, WMKV.

JRand, I did not much care for the Vangelis score to ALEXANDER. But then after you've listened to Rozsa or Korngold, who really can compare for epics? Actually, I watched ROBIN & MARIAN on TCM the other night and what a fine John Barry score that is! But I've never been much of Vangelis fan.

MattH. All I can say is that Farrell's Irish is showing in ALEXANDER. Of course, it's utterly unclear to me what accents Stone wanted his cast using in the film. They're all a bit of a muddle. I think he just should have let everyone speak the way they naturally do and not worry about the bloody accents.

Had a wonderful time with my family at Triangle Lake this weekend.... swimming, inner-tubing, skiing, sun bathing, and just having fun!

Speaking of the Tonys, one of my side-trips was to the Museum of TV & Radio to look at some Tony shows. Quite enjoyed watching 1967 (skipping the CABARET and APPLE TREE sequences). Hadn't seen the show since the one night it originally aired, and it was terrific seeing I DO! I DO! and WALKING HAPPY and also such an array of stars as presenters looking so young and beautiful. Angela Lansbury was breathtaking presenting the award to Robert Preston. And so many other greats still in the rpime of their lives.

I also watched the 1976 show with A CHORUS LINE's opening and closing numbers. Just extraordinary getting to see the original company do those since by the time I saw A CHORUS LINE in NYC, many of them were long gone.

One of the nice male assistants in the "file room" saw what I was requesting, and we had a nice long talk about memorable Tony shows. He said he had stayed after work a few nights ago to watch the 1970 show, and I mentioned seeing Lauren Bacall's "Welcome to the Theater" on TCM's "Private Screenings" earlier in the week. He also mentioned the Ethel Merman tribute to herself medley which I told him was to be on the next BROADWAY'S LOST TREASURES. He hadn't heard and was very excited.

I adore Robin and Marian, both film and score. Such good actors in it, and a good script, and Hepburn is incredibly touching.

Colin Farrell is not my cuppa - haven't liked him in anything, but then I pretty much hated everything about Phone Booth.

I was lucky enough to see Merman, Raitt, and Mostel live. As well as Judith Anderson. Channing, way too many times. Robert Weede. Robert Preston (in Mack and Mabel).
