As for the Topic of the Day...

Beef, Pork, Chicken, Lamb, Veal.. Heck, even goat... It's all good when prepared well.

Are we including "Fish" as meat? -Just wondering about the aforementioned "Eel".

As for the specifics...

The osso bucco at Becco. The slow-roasted pork at Becco. The bisteca Fiorentina at Becco. -Notice a theme here?

The goat (chivo tacos from the taco cart up the street. *The New York Times just reviewed one of the other trucks down on 96th Street. Looks like the "roach coach" is going legit!

North Carolina-style pulled pork BBQ. Strangely, some of the best NC-style I've had has been in VA.

My mom used to make a Chinese Style Pot Roast - basically a beef roast braised in soy, five spice and star anise. Soooo good. And, I would also like the pieces of carrots and celery that braised along with the meat.

Philippe's French Dip - I liked the Lamb Version with Bleu Cheese. Bun double-dipped in jus, of course. Although, the original beef version if quite wonderful too.
The conchinita pibil - pork braised in sour orange juice - from the little stand near my friend's house. -DR Cason may know what I'm talking about - it's across the street from the Albertson's.

Watching BK attempt to eat vegetarian burgers was one of the comedic highlights of his visit to PDX.

Betsy makes many a vegetarian delight. Last night we had her homemade pizza, with whole wheat crust, soy cheese (at least for cholestophobic me), fresh (not canned) pineapple, mushroom and olive. Mmm-mm good.

I don't think I will watch the VERONICA MARS finale live. Here it is on from 10pm-midnight. I may watch the first hour.

I'm not sure if i will watch HEROES live or not. It has been on here at 8pm in the past. But because the same channel has 24 they are showing it at 10pm. Or i can catch it at 9pm on NBC. I usually like taping that one because so much happens, sometimes i like to rewind.

Today is a holiday here (Victoria Day). I just went out to lunch with a bunch of family members. I know i will definitely watch DANCING WITH THE STARS at 8pm. And I still have BROTHERS & SISTERS from last night.

Back from two nice meetings, and I've also been to the post office which, thank goodness, was practically empty. So, I've managed to squeeze most of today's stuff into the morning, and now, other than a few various and sundried tasks, the rest of the day is mine all mine.

I watched CAPTAIN FROM CASTILLE last night....this is the movie that my parents saw on their FIRST date.

I listened to some of Mr Nick Redman's commentary, but then I got interested in the movie and had to turn it off. Mr Redman certainly has a very nice accent. Mr Rudy Behlmer also had some nice things to say.

BUT - the featurette on the this DVD was titled Tyrone Power's Leading Ladies with some nice CLIPS...but the writer claimed that Power was under contract to FOX for "30 years".....so he either signed that contract in 1928 when he was 14...OR he was under contract to FOX for ten years after he bit the dust....

Featurette was written by someone named Bryan Cooper.
