Down east another block is this nondescript office building with more gorgeous trees.

Now we are getting a little further away from my apartments. This is one of my walking routes to work, taking me past some state offices on Capitol St.

Here are some very unusual trees in front of some 1920s era apartments. These apartments would have been my one of my choices to live in, but they don't allow pets.

Another shot of these way cool apartments which I walk by every day. Portland is full of these kinds of apartment buildings, as is Los Angeles, but Salem has very few that have survived the bulldozers.

The apartments themselves are beautiful inside as is the lobby. They are also very reasonably priced and there is a waiting list of the 1 and 2 bedrooms. The studios rent very quickly.

This building is where I used to work until they moved our office a couple of years ago.

The trees have not started to change colors, but the bush in front of the building has.

A beautiful shot in front of the University on State St, looking west. My office is one block east of this.

Since I was right next to the state capital building, here is a shot of it from east side of it. The trees around the building have not yet begun to change, so will have to get a snap of those another day.

Heading back towards my apartment, this building is the State Library on Winter St just down from me about 6 blocks.

Another shot of St Joseph's. This church is huge and takes up a whole city block. Much larger then the other churches in this area. Quite a political church. I am surpised they are so involved in politics.

They play a note, like on the piano, and then I remember it to this day. And then they’d ask you other questions, and then they’d play notes later on, and they’d say, ‘Which is the note we played from one hour ago?’ And I’d, like, get it right, I guess.”

DR MBarnum - Thanks for posting those pictures.  It's been a weird Fall here on the East Coast weather-wise, so there's currently a lack of Fall Color.

"Pesto and Art" - Isn't that the number that "Nonna" sings in the second act of "Sunday in the Piazza with Giorgio"?

This shot I took just because it sort of reminded me of PEYTON PLACE.

And that brings us back around to my apartments...the view of the northwest side of the building (my apartment faces east, so it is on the other side)

I have never heard of this guy before, but I imagine that Jennifer knows him,  His name is Rick Mercer and I guess he is a big star in Canada (mostly for getting Americans to say dumb things on television).

Anyway this video of him helping yo tag black bears in Algonquin Park is very funny and very sweet.  Who knew that bears cubs could be so cute?

I know of him but I've never watched him.

My niece is doing better. It turns out she had a really bad ear infection, even though she only mildly complained about her ear once. We were worried because she was having really bad stomach pains on Thursday and Friday. But since she got the meds yesterday she's been fine.
