DR JOHN G is closed - that's a good thing.

Loved the Levon in the car picture posted by DR JANE yesterday!

A COMBINATION AFFAIR is the title of my new musical comedy.

Congratulations to MR BK on his writing prowess - if not his roast beef - maybe you needed a sharper knife.

Thanks DR CILLA LIZ - I know appeals are automatic on DP cases.  I liked how the judge wrote her opinion on each motion that really makes each one less likely to be overturned, especially in this case - a felony murder one with premeditation and something about the violence of the crime....the horrible way it was done:  27 stab woulds, slit throat-near decapitation, gunshot to the head.....

DR BEN is correct, I should have gone after a nomination rather than waiting for one to come to me.

I could have been like Jennifer Aniston, who reportedly had rented two rooms at the Four Seasons hotel so she could talk to reporters about her Oscar nomination.....only....well....I hope she got her deposit back.

Friday morning greetings!  I have a very quiet day ahead, which is fine because yesterday was pretty busy.  My visit with Mom was not the most upbeat, but I got some business stuff accomplished on her behalf.  After a quick soup supper with Richard, I packed up the my special cookies and some fruit and went to Katie's for my book group's discussion of Under the Wide and Starry Sky by Nancy Horan.

Well that was interesting, DR John G.

I read your post and thought, I didn't know that Strauss had written a Requiem!

When I went to the symphony's website, it all became clear. The Requiem being performed tonight is by Mozart!

Oh well, you know. Strauss, Mozart. It's all equal.

So, a couple of weeks ago I was musing with my friend Sharon about finding a food clue in this month's book group selection.  She said, "It's too bad Girl Scout cookies aren't available yet - you could just bring Samoas,"  because the Stevensons eventually settle there.  So I Googled "homemade Samoas" and came up with a recipe.  Here is what's left:

MacMan will know DR ELMORE.....or message DR JOSE on Facebook, he is an Apple guru.

And polish your pennies on the window sill......or if you have them separated, put them in a stack for awhile.

Thanks for the advice, DR JRand64!

My Mac tells me the LaCie cannot be repaired, so I am backing it up onto an empty LaCie I discovered I had and forgotten about.  i hope this will work.  As long as the corrupted LaCie is on my desktop, I can access things but we'll see if this 12 hour backup (oy!) saves everything.

I will pnly contact the Mac Man if this fails.

I beg to differ.  No one is equal to Mozart.

And on that, I must run to City Center and see Joshie.

Thank you, DRs John G and JRand!  The cookies were fun to make, although I had to tweak the recipe a bit.  It called for 8 ounces of chocolate, melted, and I used almost 20.  And I used my stand-by shortbread recipe instead of the one they provided.

Meryl as Phyllis or Meryl as Sally? Maybe she'll play both!

FJL, loved these lyrics about the forthcoming revisal of Gigi:

Update to tune of The Night They Invented Champagne, as "Little Gigi" reads the tweets and writes back.

LITTLE GIGI:
What day in April will it get here?
Would the seats put us in debt here?
Why must chatters be curmudgeons,
Over casting of Miss Hudgens?
AUNT: Gigi, they are absurd. Don?t read ? another word

LITTLE GIGI:
Is everybody celebrating,
Or do some folks find this grating?
Can?t they read her acting hist?ry?
She?s an actress, it?s no myst?ry
AUNT: Gigi, stop sending tweets. Now come ? let?s buy our seats

GASTON:
Let her ask the questions, let her spread the chat
If she has suggestions, let her tell them where it?s at

LITTLE GIGI:
The chatters who kvetch and complain
Will learn they have a pro
Who?s more than just B.O.
The chatters who kvetch and complain
Will learn they have a star
Who?ll take the part real far

The people who go won?t complain
And she?ll charm everyone in sight
So let the buzz begin
The casting is win-win
And all the casting promises a special night

After reading the reviews, even the bad ones, for Honeymoon in Vegas, I really want to hear the score. Sounds like fun. Words not generally associated with Jason Robert Brown's work.

I'm up - got up at nine-thirty but stayed in bed an hour while I got the house warmer.  Then I futzed and finessed and wrote a new page-and-a-half.  Now I'll get ready for the noon meeting - once that's done, I'll finish the chapter I'm on and move to the next chapter and try to do six or seven pages, after which I'll eat and go pick up packages.

Thought my cellphone was dying once again because it wouldn't recharge. I took a toothpick to the area where the charger goes and removed quite a bit of lint. That did the trick. Guess I can't keep my phone in my coat pocket anymore.

I've polished my three pennies and stacked them on the window sill, which faces north.

Thanks DR John.  We finally received a couple of photos, both of the girl.  I was a bit freaked about that worrying where the boy was.  The babies are cute and a good, and fairly equal, size for twins.  There is a large family all looking forward to help take care of the twins.
