Back from our third music rehearsal, which went well.  Met with both costume and lighting designers, too.  One of our actresses was forthright today in saying she was concerned that her voice is not going to suit the songs she has to sing and that she was willing to drop out without any bad feelings.  The character is a one-hit wonder who hasn't really recorded in quite a few years.  I've always thought Carole King in my head for vocal quality, rather than the belter that Ann Crumb was in the original off-B'way production.  But our gal just has this wonderful edge, great comic chops and is a terrific actor - and I'd rather that than a lesser actress who has more of the sound that the composer wrote.  So, I'm for keeping her, which is what I told her.  Besides, it took forever to find her - everyone else we'd approached couldn't do it.

Plus, as she said, she'll keep working the songs till they're more comfortable for her.

Then I took the final book file to get copies made - I forgot to make a PDF of it before taking it there, because sometimes different computers will do wacky things to Word documents - but we looked at it and the font was right and the page layout and count was right, so it should be fine.  I'll pick up the copies around seven tonight.

Vibes she improves and becomes comfortable with the songs.

My poor cousin's wife, the one you gave vibes to a long while back, has been in the hospital over three months now.  I pray she is able to leave sometime soon and enjoy life again.

Today I heard my two favorite words repeated four times in a row

Not Guilty, Not Guilty, Not Guilty, Not Guilty!

Congratulations, Cillaliz!

And something very good just happened here at work...our a**hole of an HR manager is no longer employed (and he DIDN'T retire)!!  We just got the e-mail about 45 minute ago and we've all practically been celebrating since then!  He's been the bane of the union since we decided to unionize several years ago and he for whatever (I think, personal) reasons made it very difficult every step of the way.  FINALLY he's gone! :D

I've been trying to clean out a drawer or cupboard every day.  I need to get moving except I'm tired from not sleeping last night.  Four nights of sleep in a row was way to much to hope for.  I was lucky to get three ;D

So..... it has been five years since we signed the lease for the printer. You know what that means --- meetings with printer salesmen!

Oy.

It's time for bed.

Perhaps tomorrow there will be lots of work offers, although I'd settle for one.

Went to a Thai restaurant with a bunch of bloggers tonight. I don't really know them, but the food was good. I was the only male and there were plenty of motherhood/child birth stories.

Enjoy the party, George.

Thanks, John...of course, there won't be a "real" party at work.  Someone has already announced that there will be a party at a local bar downtown on Sunday!
