I also saw The King and I tour in SF on Friday and it was phenomenal.  Just as good as the Lincoln Center staging.  Trying to see if I can get back one more time.  The orchestra wasn't as big and it did include a lovely keyboard, but it all sounded authentic and real - you wouldn't even know there was a keyboard.

This is the national tour, right?  And that would be DR Elmore's adopted son Josh's orchestration, which I very much look forward to hearing when it plays the eastern seaboard.

It plays Philadelphia (March 22 thru April 2) and Hartford (May 30 through June 4).

And it's already shaping up to be a busy winter/spring for a bunch of us.  But I've got to get to it.

When I order hot chocolate at a coffee shop, unless I have to take it with me, I order it in a regular cup.  I prefer not to drink out of those lids.

If you don't have/buy the plastic cup with the lid, then you can't take your drink into the theater.  That's their purpose...to help prevent spills.  Also, these cups are not for hot drinks.  Sodas, wine, and beer only.

MR BK - are there any current productions of The BRAIN going on?  I would think there would be lots of high school productions in the fall and spring.....

George, it depresses me that a production of a fine, funny Moliere would only draw two people to a performance. I hope the rest of your run is better attended.

Thanks John, but actually, the Molière (The Physician in Spite of Himself) hasn't opened, yet.  That's still in rehearsal.  The latest in our series of readings, "WORDS, WORDS, WORDS: Hans Christian Andersen" is what drew only two people on the second of two nights.  Since that cost literally nothing, the total of eight audience members between the two nights is not a total loss.  And we actually had fun with the two people, so it was not a sad night, at all. :)
Sorry about that mixup. Still, two people seems awfully low

Haven't heard of any Brain productions in the works.  There were two recently, but those closed already.

Had an omelet and a bagel for my meal o' the day, picked up no packages, did some banking, and had a package waiting for me at home, a screener of a movie I actually want to see - The Girl on the Train.  It was a bomb and got bad reviews - in the Gone Girl mold but they simply hired to worst possible director for it - the guy who made The Help - whatever his talents may be, why on earth would you give that guy (who's only made two films I think) a glossy thriller?  From everything I've read, he was the problem with the film.

Not easily, and they're not supposed to in the theater

BK mentioned eating at Lenny's, which used to be Junior's, and I had to refresh my memory on where Junior's was.  Did that, and was stunned at how familiar it looked.  I don't think I ever ate there, but from going by it literally hundreds of times, it was just the most iconic image for me.

Which brings me to this:  Was there a deli, at least in the 1970s, on the south side of Pico in the general vicinity of the Picwood?  My first thought was Zucky's (I was thinking of their signage), but that was in Santa Monica.  I'm also thinking this deli wasn't in its own standalone building, but who knows how mixed up this memory is...

The next chapter of the story of my car's tires:
Three mechanics have now told me that the tires were vandalized, that this was not the result of driving over glass or a nail. I was trying to think where and when this could have happened. A week ago Friday I had parked my car on a city street in Santa Monica--my stomping ground--and it looked like someone in a black pickup truck had also eyed the space. He'd double-parked his truck as I left my car. The following Sunday I had the first flat tire, and on Monday, the second, both slow leaks. We don't know for certain, but this may have happened on Friday--revenge over a parking space.

My car now has two new tires and there have been no more flats. The uneasy feeling, however, is still with me.

Junior's was about a 2 minute walk from there.  While it was on Westwood Blvd it was almost to the corner of Pico.

Is this the same Junior's that's also in NYC?
