Barbra is doing an interview in LA on January 5th. It's a fundraiser for the Grammy Museum. I was thinking of going but seem to have come to my senses.

And now, I must be leaving. I'm not going directly home, though. Since tonight is the winter solstice, my friend pug is having her annual Yule feast! She invites just about everyone she knows and has a (mostly) potluck dinner. She usually fixes some kind of Indian food. I don't know why. I'm not a particular fan of Indian food, but there'll certainly be something for everyone. I'm bringing a box of various flavors of Trader Joe's Jo-Joes cookies for a dessert item. It'll definitely be a fun evening!

I usually find the shortest day of the year a bit depressing, not tonight. The charming town of Fredericksburg is filled with beautiful Christmas lights.

I love Fredericksburg at Christmas. Gorgeous little town. Great barbecue and German food to be had. And the wildflower farm. And the wineries. And the herb farm ...

We had a posada at church tonight. It's the Mexican tradition of following Mary and Joseph about as they search for an inn or someplace where she can have the baby. There was a mariachi band performing the carols and the kids had their pageant. It was really nice. And we had a better turnout than I had expected.

Started listening to Christmas musicals today. Got through The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Elf. Here's Love, A Christmas Story, She Loves Me and a few more to go.
