After dance practice, I went with Joy to a Chinese buffet for a quick dinner. It was strange. Some of the food was beautifully prepared. The clams in black bean sauce was really good. The mushrooms were perfectly prepared with beef. The fried squid was light and delicious. But the drawback was that nothing was hot. You'd look at the buffet tables and see steam rising. And the heat lamps were in full order, but nothing was more than warm by the time you got your plate to the table.

The ice cream was cold. Thank goodness.

DR George re: your dead kindle

Have you tried contacting amazon customer service?  There are usually a few tricks that they suggest. Plugging it in and charging is one. And a hard reboot is another.  They also usually let you send back your dead kindle for credit towards your new one (if you buy from amazon). My guess is that they will have some good sales this Friday.

Jennifer, I did try plugging it in to try and charge it.  Nothing happened at all. :P And I can't send it back to Amazon because I bought it used for only $10.  So, I'm not really that sad about it...more annoyed than anything else. :)

I don't know that they care where you got the kindle from. I thought it was just a way to send in old kindles that didn't work and to exchange for a new one. I would still contact customer service.

At least it was only $10. But I agree it is super annoying. Although I would be very upset. I probably should have a back-up because I use my kindle every day and would be very inconvenienced.

I hadn't heard about trading in a Kindle for a credit.  I'll have to look into that.

Did you ever try to reactivate the other one after you found it?  You can reactivate phones.

I can still read the e-books that are already on it, but as far as I know, I can't reregister it as the "Kindle #2" that it was before and continue to download e-books onto it.  I could reregister it as a new Kindle to my account, but that would make all the library books go away, and I don't want to do that.

This is what I would do (re-register it). Read the few library books you want to read first.

Well, I don't have just a few library books.  I have a whole bunch.  Since they're free (from the library), I did collect quite a few series, and most were complete.

It sounds like you have more than enough books to read on it.

True...very true.  But it's especially nice to be able to collect books in a series and not have to wait until I've read them to be able to get the next ones.

That I very much agree with you.  Even worse is when the last book takes forever to be completed-lol

Or the first!  I saw the movie to Crazy Rich Asians and was going to request it, but the first book of the trilogy has 211 holds!  Book two has 38 holds and book three has 35 holds.  Before my Kindle died, I was actually able to get book two (and turn it right back in), but I'm number 12 for book three, and number 51 for book one! :o

I had to place another hold on book two and I'm back to hold #38 of 38. :(

Well, I need to leave work now.  I'm going to my sister's to make a cheesecake for Thanksgiving, and to also help her put up some shelves, or something like that.

Be back later.

Next up: Netflix sent me a Fritz Lang I hadn't heard of: The Woman in the Moon, a silent film dating back to 1929. It's close to 3 hours long, so I don't know how much I'll watch tonight.

Listening to music is what I'm currently doing.  I could watch The Old Man and the Gun via streaming, but I just don't like watching stuff on my computer screen and am hoping we get a screener.
