Talking of Glenn Scarpelli. He left One Day At a Time before the last season to do the worst Broadway musical I ever saw called Street Heat. (Starmites was better) The only musical/play on Broadway I ever walked out during intermission. And Scarpelli hasn't done much since.

Well, I've been scooped! But it is true, I have met my very first in-person HHW'er (not counting IRIS, who it turned out I had met well before I had posted on here). The great Elmore3003,  who looks precisely like his picture, for those who may have had doubts. A GFO (Gentleman First Order) and graduate of Miami University in Ohio, rival of my grad school Bowling Green Falcons. So of course we spent the whole time talking about the great football clashes between our schools... Don't believe that. But DO believe that if Elmore's bookcases ever fall on him again, he has an HHW pal who can go dig him out of the rubble.

Here is a picture of Glen Scarpelli today. This is what years of not acting does to you.

Whew!  Patsy Parsons who played the evil Suzaraine of Oficious named Cleolanta is the widow of William Powell Jr and was President of the Agouras Hills Chamber of Commerce in 2000, although she is no longer listed as an officer.

For the Pat Harrington fans out there, both of you, as JRand would say, he gives a fine performance in THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST, one of the great movies ever.

Pat Harrington and Bonnie Franklin....for me that's a double whammy!  :P

The only thing that would make me run faster would be guest appearances by Beverly Garland and Bernadette Peters.  :P :P

Good Evening!

Whew!  What a nice number of posts to come back to!.

Whew!  I did this, I did that. I picked up this, I picked up that. I drove here, I drove there.  Quite a nice couple of semi-productive hours for me today

And I also managed to get a two mile run in - well, two one-mile runs.  Lacrosse practice was starting at the track, so they asked all the joggers to leave, then I drove over to the park to run the second mile.

And I made dinner tonight too.  Mexican - Chicken Molé. Good, not spectacular.  I just always forget how "subtle" molé can be - and should be - at times.  I guess I was looking for a bit of a kick tonight.  I'll probably spice up the leftovers tomorrow with some habanero hot sauce.

Whew!  And I even did some laundry.

Whew!

LUMBAR!

As for the "One Day At A Time: Reunion Special"...

I liked it.

Michael Lembeck looks great.

Glen Scarpelli looks... OK.

;)

But I thought it was a good reunion show.  They even acknowledged MacKenzie Phillips drug abuse problem and her subsequent "hiatus" from the show.

Now I'm watching that PBS Frontline show that has been distributed to the affiliates in both a "dirty" and "clean" version - four-letter words.

I find it very sad that PBS had to state that they could not help out the local affiliates if someone chooses to bring obscenity charges against them for the use of the four-letter words in tonight's show.

As one commentator stated, it's about war.  It's real.

RE: tonight's American Idol.

I really feel like those who didn't get much air time until now got shafted.

My favs are: Nadia (is that the name of the rocker girl with the big poofy hair), Carrie (blonde country girl who the judges raved about), Amanda (las vegas showgirl).  And I sometimes like the loud girl (mikala sp?).  And I think I might like Lindsey.

There were a bunch of girls who are in big trouble. Sarah is one.

Anyhow, more tomorrow.

OK, folks...

I'm afraid I must depart for now... Not sure if I'll be back later "today".  I need to take care of a bunch of things here before heading to bed, and they may take a bit of time - and a lot of attention.

Laters...

Goodnight.

Elmore you gave a very nice tribute.

Rodzinski, what chocolate concoction did you have?  I don’t drink coffee, don’t care for the sweets at Starbucks and I’m hoping you will solve my problem of what to order the next time I’m forced to go there.

Did she talk about the time she spent going to schools and talking to teens, urging them not to use drugs?

Jane- I don't drink coffee either, so I am happy with this new thing they have which they seem to be under strict orders to refer to as CHANTICO DRINKING CHOCOLATE, as if "Chantico" was not pretentious enough as it is!
It is really rather incredible, if you are a chocolate fan. It is just incredibly rich and thick hot chocolate. I mean, as close as you could come to drinking a melted chocolate bar. It is so rich, they serve it only in tiny little cups.

But I had a big decaf caffe latte!  And I brought home a slice of banana nut cake for breakfast.  Yum!  The penultimate episode of NYPD BLUE was quite wonderful tonight.  It's going out with a bang.  I hope I do!

Actually, now that you bring up SONG OF THE SOUTH, Splash Mountain is probably one of the best rides I've ever been on. It lasts a long time, has a great buildup with the music from SOTS, has a couple good hills before you get to the top of the really steep hill for the big splash. It is satisfactual.

When I rode Splash Mountain, I wondered how kids today would even know who these characters are since the movie has been out of general circulation for so long. I guess "The Laughin' Place" is on one of the Disney CDs of song hits, but I still think those Br'er Rabbit stories in SOTS are exceptional examples of animation, and the framing live action story is no more demeaning to the various races than JEZEBEL, GONE WITH THE WIND, or THE LITTLE COLONEL.

Love Ferris Wheels, and in the old days, there used to be double and triple decker ferris wheels which were really fun!

Trude Rittman - oh, that name brings back such memories. Lots of piano music I learned as a kid was arranged for piano by Trude.

Got 2 of my zillion packages that are coming to me via USPS/UPS/FedEx...2 Allison Hayes photos (one that I think I might already have..oops!), and a DVD of SKULL AND CROWN which is an old 1930s Rin Tin Tin movie...my first, which I just finished watching...and it was sort of fun!

AMERICAN IDOL tonight.

I thought it was as close to a total disaster as a show could be. I found NONE of the women exceptional, and a couple were verging on tone deafness. Maybe not quite as bad as Leah LaBelle last year but very close. A couple were so terrified they couldn't move and couldn't get their voices to cooperate with what they were trying to do vocally.

And the girls who the judges raved over were at best mediocre. One of the ones they gave a fairly hard time to that I liked the best was Celena. She started low and quietly and built to a peak of power. All of the other girls kind of started off blasting and had nowhere to go.

But there was NOT ONE FEMALE tonight who could carry the shoes of Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, or LaToya London from last year.

Though there were some fine singers over the two nights, I truly did not see a star in the rough. But perhaps some will catch fire in the coming weeks. It took Kelly Clarkson several weeks to build up her courage and turn on the charisma. It could happen with one of these 24 as well.

Scott Foley was the guest star on HOUSE tonight playing a baseball star with unusual, life-threatening illnesses.

Can I simply ask this: was Jennifer Garner crazy? That is one fine man!

SWW I suggest you change Fletcher’s diet. ;D
You mean, regarding his "toot"-elage?

Today, we took him to see the woman in charge of the local Dalmatian Rescue group.  She was thrilled to see him again, as always.  She also told us that he's always had the toots (she took care of him for several months before he joined us), as do about half of the Dals in her care.  It's just one of those breed things.

We're already careful about what he eats.  Beef and beef by-products aren't good for Dals, as they can develop kidney problems.  As a result, we've switched the whole pack to a lamb/rice mixture, and everyone is happy.

I've been very good, food-wise (and have been for the last week), but I am REALLY craving something sweet.  I've considerably under 1500 calories for the day, so I think I could do something.  We'll see if the rain lets up so I can go to the store and see what's what.

Here's some very exciting news.  In a mere 1000 postings we shall achieve our new posting plateau and it's a pretty amazing one and will require a huge celebration.  Yes, in a mere 1000 postings we shall achieve to new grand total of 100,000 posts.

House was a very good reason to miss the ODAAT reunion.  Not that many good reasons were needed, of course, but House is a very good reason for missing most everything that's on the tube these days.  (With the exception of Good Eats, of course.)

I particularly love how the show gives Hugh Laurey different, eccentric spins and interests for his character.  This week: monster truck rallys!  Whooda thunk!
