I looked at the DVDs next to me and was surprised to see I have a dozen of Allen's pictures, a couple of which I really dislike but I only paid $1 for (Whatever Works, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger).

Finished Manhattan and started The King and I. It's been years since I've watched this. Funny, but everyone complains about the theatrical lighting in South Pacific, yet they never mention the same lighting effects in this movie. I actually find it more distracting here because just about everything was filmed on a set, so it's all rather claustrophobic. Granted, you're supposed to feel that somewhat so you understand why Anna wants to live outside the palace.

I think it was discussed here that Morton DaCosta directed Auntie Mame and The Music Man, and both of them have very theatrical lighting. I enjoy the look of both.

I do not understand why I ate very fattening food at Stanley's but it's ALL I ate so hopefully will do no damage. I couldn't not have my favorite grilled chicken pasta with red onions, cashews, broccoli in a lovely cream sauce. I couldn't not have that or the small Caesar to start or the one piece of bread.
