The fake newsmongers are saying Daniel Radcliffe has coronavirus. Don’t believe it.

I watched Go, Johnny, Go - a rock n roll film about that great rocker Johnny Melody - who was discovered by Alan Freed and rocketed to stardom.....

It has TWO directors of photography - one of whom is the uncle of DR JEANNE - Ed Fitzgerald.

It's a Hal Roach, Jr production.....

Johnny Melody is played by Jimmy Clanton - who must have given singing lessons to Arch Hall, Jr......they sound the same....

Since tomorrow's surgery has been rescheduled I have a relatively free week. Hooray! MUCH to catch up on. I'm really glad I'm not having surgery in the midst of the coronavirus. It really knocked me out last time. I did lots of errands and shopping ahead of time to prepare for it, so that's behind me. And I now can have a few days to putter and relax.

Yes, Eddie worked for Hal Roach Studios in Culver City for many years. I don't recall that film, but I was too young to have heard about much of his work. What I do recall were THE GALE STORM SHOW and LASSIE. Campbell's Soup sponsored LASSIE and gave my aunt and uncle a big wicker basket of soup each year at Christmas, which also included a set of drinking glasses with a decal of Lassie on each one. These are the things kids remember.  :)

Thanks for mentioning it.

Well, things are getting real here. Or should I say "real"?

Got word late last night that the Willy Wonka musical and all other spring events at this high school (including all concerts and assemblies and I believe some sporting events) are officially CANCELLED.

This is devastating -- for the school, the students, and the extra hired personnel like yrs truly. Everyone involved is in shock at the moment. But it's particularly scary as it could so easily be the start of a statewide domino effect.

So sorry you're affected by this. Vibes something good comes out of it.

Ouch!  That hurts.

Scary times.

We have a cruise booked for late this year.

Thankfully, we have until September to cancel without penalty.

Hopefully, this will all be a memory by then.

I truly hope it dies out sooner rather than later. For all our sakes.

We have friends on two different cruises.  I am tracking them, especially the Princess ship returning from Hawaii.  They said extra precautions are being taken on the ship.  It sounds like what they have done on cruises where there were a number of cases of the norovirus.

I'm glad to hear they are taking extra precautions. I spoke with my friend in Hawaii the other day. He is quite well-informed on health issues and told me that they are not going out in public places any more than they have to--no movie theaters, minimal grocery shopping trips, etc. One of the infected ships had stopped there and loads of people went on shore. There's no way to know how many may have been infected and unknowingly spread it around the island. My friends are being quite cautious.

Carnival and Promises Promises, like A Little Night Music, are certainly indebted to their source, but they very much have their own tone anmd style and are not slavish imitations of the films they were adapted from.

And that’s the critical thing. These weren’t even remotely conceived to be Lili: The Musical!; The Apartment: The Musical!, etc.

Found some Lysol wipes today.  It was like discovering gold.

I use the disinfecting wipes by Seventh Generation. I can't compare them to Lysol or other conventional brands in terms of effectiveness, but I choose them because they don't bother my allergies and sensitivities. If someone is looking for disinfecting wipes and the conventional ones aren't available, they might have better luck with the health store brands.

And what does one say about The King & I, supposedly based on and credited to the book by Margaret Landen, but actually based on the Sally Benson screenplay for Anna and the King of Siam?

The musical Oliver! owes more to David Lean's film of Oliver Twist than to Charles Dickens.

SpongeBob: The Musical is very much in the style of the TV show, but the adaptation is quite unique, IMHO (in my humble opinion, in Internet speak), and it's otherwise an original story.  I've watched it again since the original broadcast and I still like it. :)

What beer pairs best with Jane Austen?

I would think sherry would best.

I would not like the idea of an infected ship stopping in my port.

Good idea if they aren't also sold out.  The price online might not be inflated.

Our Washington governor Washington Governor is considering taking mandatory measures to prevent an increase in coronavirus cases.

Asked by reporters whether he was considering mandatory measures like school closures statewide, or just in hard-hit areas, Inslee said he expected to have news on that “in very short order.”

“Shutting down any social activity has profound consequences in people’s lives,” said Inslee. “You have to see if there are ways to reduce them or ameliorate that.”
