My question for ASK BK DAY.

How many dear readers and former dear readers have you met in person?

The answer:
Show: The New Moon, 1928
Orchestrator: Hans Spialek

I responded. But my guess was a show from 1939.

I remember a product called Social Teas. Any connection between those and Sociables?

Did I miss it or was our DR ChasSmith the only one to respond to my vibraphone question yesterday?

Oh, yes! I forgot.

DR Rodzinski made a guess of Lionel Hampton.

I have postponed the getting until tomorrow.

Speaking of forgetting, I am so happy for your award, DR Jrand75!

I've met quite a few former and current dear readers, but in those days, people really would come to various places - several came to the opening of The Brain from Planet X - that was fun. We had some really big gatherings in NY, I went to Portland and saw quite a few folks, David and I went to see George's production of The Brain and I went to Indiana to see the Buck Creek production and met Jrand. Much less so in recent years, sadly.

I saw a Starfighter reading at some point at a theatre space somewhere. Then I saw the full festival Brain production on 42nd Street.

I am taking it very easy today. My Social Security landed, so I will pay some bills and that's about it.

Don't spend it all in one place, Larry! ;)

I just got an email from our DR singdaw:
Can you please let everyone at HHW know that I arrived safely in New Jersey.

However, the Internet connection is not working. Should have a new router Thursday morning and then I will be back.

Thanks for the update.

Anniversary of our musical "The Last Starfighter" (original cast album is on BK's Kritzerland label - it's 20 years from its Nov. 2005 release in a few weeks)

Today (Oct. 15) is the anniversary of a show of ours that really came together with everyone on the same page, even crucially the writer of the original screenplay - the opening night of our musical "The Last Starfighter" - book by me (Fred Landau), music and lyrics by Skip Kennon, based on the screenplay by Jonathan Betuel.

We debuted at the Storm Theatre, a non-profit theater company run by Peter Dobbins which is coming back to NYC this spring after having been based in Texas several years.

Here's the love ballad "Reach Out" music and lyrics by Skip Kennon sung by Julia Motyka and Charlie Pollock, from the original cast album on Bruce Kimmel's Kritzerland label.

More samples from our show are on the site for YouthPLAYS: (for ages 12 and up)

And we also have a "family version" of the show which debuted in 2019, suitable for all ages.

Very cool!  I love the show, Freddie!

Was it in a rehearsal studio with wooden bleachers?

Having seen the concert version in Issaquah and then the fully staged version definitely cemented my opinion of it.
