TV -- Well, let's see. Last night on TCM (it was Angela Lansbury night) I got through both Gaslight and The Picture of Dorian Gray before conking out. And the first couple of scenes of The Manchurian Candidate. (I fought bravely, but Mr. Sandman won out.)
Blu-ray -- A few nights ago in my Twilight Time travels, I watched The Sound and the Fury (1959). (Did I already post this? I hope not.) I thought I hadn't watched this one, but I recognized one thread running through it, so I guess I'd simply forgotten much of it. But what a movie, and what a story. And the cast -- I'd never appreciated the young Joanne Woodward like I did in this. Confession: To the best of my recollection, I've never read any Faulkner. This makes me want to begin.
CD -- I've been listening to some of the Kritzerland / Ben Bagley albums in the car, and have been hugely enjoying a few that I hadn't previously heard. This week's pleasure was George Gershwin Revisited, but it contained a real surprise for me, which brings us to: Confession #2. I somehow never knew about the 1928 Paul Whiteman version of the Concerto in F, so when it started playing, I was stunned ... at the arrangement, the orchestration, the playing style, the recorded sound ... all of it. This will require further study on the Big Speakers.
