I remember vividly sitting with Lauren Bacall in her favorite Chinese restaurant while we had her favorite appetizers while waiting for Brent Barrett to join us after Chicago - she was so charming and funny and I got great stories about Bogart. I really adored her and she was a dream to work with in the studio, and I will never forgive the idiots at Varese for not letting me do a solo album with her - she wanted it so bad and I knew we could do something that would really surprise people. And I'd convinced her that that final track had to be As Time Goes By - she wasn't sure at first, but boy did she embrace it ultimately. And then all those obsequious idiots trying to kiss the owner's skinny, ugly behind would not support it. Same with Ann Miller, same with Nancy Sinatra. At that moment in time, I hated them all thoroughly and hated Chris Kuchler for stoking it. And, of course, I was history a nine months later, when he broke his promise to me of having a job forever.

I hope he's sitting at home miserable because that is the karma he so deserves and so do the little boys who kissed his ugly behind. They know who they are.

The other is Oliver Hardy, the first husband of the wife of a different second cousin twice removed on my Dad's side.

Wonderful. Actually both celebrity relations are.

It's so easy to shoot something down, so much harder to bring great things into the world. That would have been wonderful.

The boulders scene is Seven Chances was indeed Mick's choice. But we got him to start earlier so we could also see the football scene, which he didn't remember (it's much shorter).

Alas he misplaced the disc that had his selected scene from Key Largo on it, so we won't know what that was.

Could you please remind us when you worked with her in the studio? I'm sure you must have mentioned it in one of the books, but I'm not recalling.

Topic of the Day (in no particular order):

Sausage gravy
Tartar sauce
Marinara
Various kinds of cheese sauce
Brown gravy
Ketchup ;D

I like tarter sauce.  Funny though, I wouldn't have thought to mention it.

I probably wouldn't have either, but in my kitchen, I have a jar of a brand that I'd never tried before.

DR John, I also don't enjoy pesto as much as I used to.

I tend to think that I like pesto more than I actually do.

Scrooged is one I’d call “unwatchable.”

Interesting.  We'll see how I feel about it.

I like creamy pasta sauces, fettuccine alfredo and creamy tomato.   Sometimes I like a plain marinara.

Ditto to all of those!
