Last night before watching WHERE EAGLES DARE, I stopped by the STARZ Encore channel.....and there it was a 2024 version of BONJOUR TRISTESSE.

I was intrigued and began to watch it.

Chloe Sevigny in the Deborah Kerr role and Claes Bang in the David Niven role were the only two who got with the program. The daughter, her boyfriend, and the husband's young mistress were just NOT WITH THE PROGRAM.

I'll stick with Otto Preminger's version. Thanks.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe seven hours of sleep - must do quick errand and then eat.

When the show’s open and the director goes AWOL, it becomes every man for himself. El Gallo went rogue, and it was up to JRand to bring him to heel.

DR JANE with that particular director - once the show opened, we were on our own.

And then the other actor figured it was ok to mess with you.

Totally agree on the new Bonjour.

Started listening to Virginia Giuffre’s autobiography. Sad, scary life.

Costco is a madhouse today. Do people think today is the holiday?

We were shopping today, too. It is a madhouse here, as well.

After a weekend away, I'm back to big-ass salads again. The food was good, though. Mostly.

TOD: I'm a heathen, as far as movie knowledge goes. But I like The Princess Bride.

Assuming my flights aren't cancelled, I'll be seeing Ragtime, Queen of Versailles, and Chess on Broadway next week, in that order. After my experience with Opening Night, I wanted to get to them soon after they opened, just in case.

This Saturday I'll be seeing a community theater production of Fun Home, which I haven't seen before. The actress playing Helen was the Isabel to my Pozzo when we did a concert production of Sousa's El Capitan.

Now there's something I can recommend to DR Jrand75! If you're not allergic to operetta on principle, Sousa's El Capitan is way less musty then you might think from an 1896 show. It also shows how politicians manipulating the press for their own ends is nothing at all new. The only complete recording I know is the one by Ohio Light Opera and it's pretty good.

That looked like something really sweet for the right person. Glad it's going to a good home!

I'd love to do a fully staged version of El Capitan sometime. Pozzo is just about the only musical theater character where I am the exact right physical type. And as long as I can keep singing, I don't think it's a role I'd age out of.

Watching Let’s Dance, perhaps my least favorite Fred Astaire movie. The script and Betty Hutton are largely to blame.

There’s a Frank Loesser score. It’s lesser Loesser.
