They're saying on the net that Andrea Martin will be Madame Arcati at Encores.

Yep. I knew that. I think it's perfect casting. I swore I would say nothing.
It is. No benzedrine in her Ovaltine.

Starting an 80s miniseries, Nutcracker: Money, Madness and Murder. Lee Remick is on the edge. Inga Swenson, Elizabeth Wilson, Tony Musante and more. How did I miss this the first time around?

If only I'd been given that advice in my 20's.  Oh wait, the song HAS been around since then.  :)

DR George, thanks for the post of "Sing for Your Supper." I saw it when PBS first broadcast that Sylvia Fine (Mrs Danny Kaye) series. I loved Kaye Ballard, eho was a dear friend from 1988 to her death. The last time I saw her was when BK recorded Jason Graae's album of Charles Strouse songs.

I've worked as well with both Donna McKechnie, whom I helped organize her music for a Theatre Guild cruise show, and Roberta Peters, whom I've adored since she sang "Glitter and Be Gay" on the Perry Como show around 1964. She also sang with Como the Don Giovanni duet "La ci darem la mano." I got to work with her when she was guesr artist for one of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus holiday concerts. Ahe was one of the best.

That's so cool, Larry!  Thanks for the info!

And that leads in to Blue Moon, which I very much want to see. I wn't get to it until it turns up on Amazon, Netflix, or DVD, but it's something I'm looking forward to. After Oklahoma!, Rodgers and Hammerstein parted ways; Oscar to adapt Georges Bizet to Carmen Jones, and Rodgers & Hart to revise with Herb Fields A Connecticut Yankee. It was at the opening night of this show that Rodgers had a very drunk Hart forcibly thrown out of the theatre. Hart died five days later on Nov. 22, 1943.

Today is the 82nd anniversary of his death. I think this is the saddest lyric he ever wrote:

Thanks for the link, Larry.

Perhaps that’s why I am doing it.

This "Nobody's Side," sung by Jodi Benson, is on Robert Yacko's YouTube channel, which must mean he was involved with the production.

I normally buy this every year to keep out on my kitchen counter as it is cute, and tasty.  Since I like looking at it I can go a good while before I break down and it it.  They are in the stores now, but alas, I really need to avoid milk chocolate as and stay with dark chocolate until I get my prednisone down and I know that it did not kick me into diabetes numbers.

Google's AI seems to be saying that Robert Yacko produced that staging of CHESS as well as playing Anatoly.

"Jodi Benson and Robert Yacko starred together in the West Coast premiere of the musical "Chess" in 1990, with Benson playing Florence and Yacko playing Anatoly. This collaboration was a notable production of the musical, and Benson often credits Yacko for finding the show.

Jodi Benson: Known for voicing Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid, Benson was the lead actress in the 1990 production of "Chess".

Robert Yacko: He was a co-star in the production, playing the role of Anatoly. His participation was instrumental in bringing the musical to the West Coast.

The production: "Chess" was staged in 1990 in Long Beach, California, as part of the Long Beach Civic Light Opera, with Benson and Yacko as the leading cast members. "
