I just looked on his Wikipedia page and what a coinkydink!  His birthday is August 20, 1988, exactly 50 years after my dad's birthday:  August 20, 1938!

My friend Steve has a birthday tomorrow. He wanted to go to Brazilian steakhouse for his big day. So, I am here a half-hour early waiting for the 2 pm opening.

Hope you had a great time and a great meal, John!

My beloved Kim Criswell just posted the 24th 5-star review for Annabelle & Thatch on Amazon.com.uk:
What can I say about a book that gave me hours of unmitigated delight? JUST READ IT—you won’t regret it! Full disclosure: Larry and I are friends, so I know just how perfect the picture that he’s drawn of his life with these lovable felines is. Knowing him as a musician, I had not really seen the full extent of his literary imagination, and am utterly delighted by his whimsy, warmth, intelligence, and open heart! I can’t really describe this book—just READ IT! It will brighten your world, move you and tickle you in equal measure—give yourself a delightful present; I promise you won’t regret it! I LOVED IT LARRY!

That's wonderful, Larry!  I love Kim Criswell!!

Our little family will go to one of the two functioning restaurants in our little hamlet for an early NYE dinner.

Enjoy!  My housemate Shelly and went to Costco and had their $1.50 hot dogs. :)

We just got back from an unexpected trip to Buellton. College friends of ours from Boston were visiting their son in Newport Beach. Yesterday they had a day off while he was working.
So we picked someplace in between with wineries and good restaurants open on Tuesdays, and Buellton was it.

Very cool, Michael!

I've been out all day, it seems. Just when I thought I was in for the night at noon, my DIL asked for a ride to the grocery store. Man, it was a madhouse. That took a long time.

I have been wanting loaded nachos for the longest time. I've always said I was going to get some after the conferences in November and enjoy them in the hotel room. But I never did. Tonight I made some. White grandma style.

Dozed off. Made a last-minute Instacart order so we had some donuts for tomorrow, and a few other little items like - whipped cream.
