This topic was just WAITING for DR Laura to show up!

Gets me in the mood for a good salad. But I'll have to go shopping.

Bad night of insomnia led me to finish The Briar Club, which was highly enjoyable. I guessed one of the two big twists, but not the other.

Great news, BK, on the cramp-free writing yesterday. Long may it continue.

DR George, you might think about using earthquake hangers.  I'm sure they would be easy for you to do.

DR John G, I spoke to Hugh Martin several times in 1998, when I was working on The Boys from Syracuse for Encores! He had a great sense of humor, especially about himself and his own work, and I found him absolutely charming. I sorta feel the same way about the score for High Spirits. I think the music and lyrics are great - for reasons I'll never know, "If I Gave You" breaks my heart - and I would love to see Martin's original sketches; I would love to know what Harry Zimmerman brought to the arran gements in his orchestrations, which I think are really good. The wonderful overture for the show was written by Luther Henderson.

I think that recording of Boys is a desert island disc for me, and Martin’s vocal arrangements, especially on Sing for Your Supper, are out of this world.

I had a chef’s salad yesterday for dinner. A crisp iceberg mix with carrots and red cabbage topped with ham, turkey, hard-boiled egg, cheese and tomato. It’s a favorite of mine at the local diner chain, Jim’s.

I forgot to mention, after the horror show of the cramped hands, yesterday was a complete day and evening with not a single cramp. Isn' that weird?

That's great!

Jim’s used to have the most hilarious billboard and I could never tell if it were intentional. Imagine on one side a huge photo of a cowboy’s crotch with a large rodeo-style belt buckle at the top. Then a smaller image of his backside. The tagline was “Meat me at Jim’s.”

The video quality isn’t great, but Karen Morrow is. Here she shows you don’t have to move a muscle below the neck to put over a great Cole Porter song.

The mountain ceder pollen level is high when it hits 100. Today, the count is 16,100. That’s just insane.

I love all kinds of salads but DR John G.’s posts reminds me of the chef’s salads I LOVED at Ben Frank’s and other wonderful LA coffee shops. Norm’s, too, on La Cienega.

LOL!  But the lyric in that line doesn't even need to be changed.

The only arrangement Hugh did was "Sing for your supper." I did the "Come With Me," and that duet of "The Shortest Day of the Year," which was supposed to be a solo for Rebecca Luker's character in the original libretto was a faux duet put together by Rob Fisher. I never knew if that happened to give Malcom Gets more to sing or if it was a harebrained idea from that great harebrained director Susan Shulman. Ugh.

I went outside to water plants and plant two irises. I had my mask on, but it didn’t help much.
