I remember when Mad Magazine did The Cute Rook and in the next issue they had to explain what movie they were spoofing.

Cool & Lam. I bought a VHS of this a couple of decades ago!

Thanks to MR BK for posting it for all.

DR CHAS SMITH yes Ben M talked before and after Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. He was quite nonplussed at the special effects but gave the cast credit for playing it "straight". He did make a mistake when he said that to 50 Foot Woman dropped a car and when it hit the ground it was a different car.

That happened - but it was the giant from the satellite that dropped the car.

His closing comments were about director Nathan (Juran) Hertz and DOP and Executive  Producer Jacques Marquette.

Marquette later spent many seasons as DOP on Little House On The pPrairie - which BM didn't mention.

TOD:

The Color Purple

Lesley Gore's Mercury recordings. If you listen to Lesley singing especially "Maybe I Know" you can hear a lot of what he later did with Michael Jackson.

The last time I watched Our Mother's House by Georges Delerue - I was startled to hear how much the main title sounded like The Color Purple.

From DR Kevin,

Quote
I took Metro into DC this afternoon and had a nice lunch with former DR Ben and his DH Anthony.  They were in town for a wedding.   We went to a restaurant near their hotel in Dupont Circle and had a nice time.

Somehow I missed this post last night.  I hope they are both doing well.  I miss DR Ben here.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep - first rough night I've had in ages in terms of falling asleep.

Looks like two hours ago the power went out for about ten seconds - unlike two weeks ago, this one not only shut off the computer, it screwed up the clocks. I just don't get it - no rain, no wind, no nothing. I believe that it has something to do with the monstrosity across the street.

Had some leftover ham, so I made a vat of soup. I discovered I had no lentils to add, so I used a tiny shell pasta I had. Turned out very well.

Turkey sandwich eaten, a couple of new pages written, more to come, and that's the news so far.

Quincy Jones’s theme from Ironside is also top drawer.

What a cast: Marlene, Roland Young, Melville Cooper, Franklin Pangborn, Mischa Auer, Andy Devine. Only leading man Bruce Cabot is a bit of a stiff. But the script lets them all down. It’s sorta sodden.
