In profile, Cabot sorta resembles a scraggy wolfman.

I listened to the Kiss of the Spider Woman soundtrack today. Stripped of the movie, it sounds really good. Lopez is in great voice when she needs to be and Tonatiuh is wonderful. I just wish my favorite song, Dear One, hadn’t been mangled and, well, the direction still sucks.

But like The Wiz (and Hello, Dolly!), I think the soundtrack is better than the movie itself.

DR John awhile back did you mention you were reading a book and one of the characters was named John Griffin?  Of so, was the book Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid?

I did not pay much attention to the last cut on the soundtrack, Come Out, which isn’t in the movie and doesn’t sound like Kander and Ebb at their finest.

I’m starting to watch a potentially intense movie called Familiar Touch.

The great Kathleen Chalfant plays a woman who is slipping into dementia or memory loss.

I’ve liked all of her books, some more than others. This one was upper middle for me.

I was also coming off an amazing read, The Tale of Genji, the first novel ever written.

This movie is wonderful and very sad. It’s sad to watch someone you love devolve.

It used to be that the Academy would remember excellent performances in independent movies. If that were true, Chalfant would be up for best actress this go-round and Liz Larsen would be nominated for The Baltimorons. But both will be forgotten.
