I got such a touching note from a former Times reporter, under whose articles I'd written a lot of my comments in the form of lyrics for several years. The former Times reporter is recalling part of the time of the late Tatiana Schlossberg as a Times reporter (taken from the world so young). I redacted some parts that identified the reporter by name.
"Dear Freddie,
[ ... ] here — we were in touch when I used to write the New York Today column at NYT. It’s been a long time and I hope you are doing well.
As I’m sure you remember, Tatiana wrote the column just before I did — teaching me everything I needed to know to thrive — and revisiting her wonderful work has brought a smile these last few days. Though it was a decade ago, I so fondly remember the songs you used to write us in the comments section, and how much we looked forward to reading them each day as we finished our very early morning shifts.
Are there any particular favorites you wrote about Tatiana or her columns that you can send to me? (They’re all on her author page from 2015-16, comments still intact.) I’m writing to her family and would love to try to include.
Wishing you all my best for 2026 and would love to hear how you’re doing. [ ... ] "
