It’s a Blake Edwards kind of evening. Starting A Shot in the Dark.

I used to buy fresh cut slices of white American cheese.  It was much better than yellow American cheese.

That arrived soon after I got up, so I didn't have time to post then because I'd had to answer e-mails.

Not to mention read the review I knew would be bad, although its nastiness is not going to do this cheerleader reviewer any good. He thrives on being known as a cheerleader - takes his photos with cast members - he's only done this a handful of times that I've seen - he just did NOT like the play itself, thought the use of public domain tunes didn't work for today's audiences (I love when people say what works and doesn't work with today's audiences), singled out three performers in a negative way, which he rarely does and which really bothered me, did not even say a single word about the four leads' performances. I think people will understand exactly the issues when they read it and while the theater community in LA loves him for his 99% raves, no reviewers in LA really get people in seats. I get mentioned once - a he did his best kind of thing.

On the other hand - we got an advance quote from a review that's hitting Wednesday - that's a rave - and it, too, will not get people in seats.

Then I went right to futzing and finessing - I went back to the beginning of the book and adjusted several things, too, then I just wanted to get the first batch to Muse Margaret and didn't want to write new till I knew she was okay with what there was. So, off it went.

It was the Muse - I knew she was having a long day and I told her tomorrow would be fine, but she started anyway and read the first six pages - then her eyes were just too tired so tomorrow it is. She did say she loved the first six so that's a good sign because they're very much what the book is - and she loves the title.

When can you share the advance quote?

Got another Deanna Durbin musical, Mad about Music. Back then, they didn’t cap prepositions in titles, no matter how many letters it has. That’s because people knew their prepositions back then.

I survived Deanna. It helped having Herbert Marshall in the picture. I enjoy watching him, even when he’s the bad guy, as he was in Foreign Correspondent.
